Black Blood Mage

Stealing mushrooms and drinking urine is the only way many in the underground and Demon-controlled city of Adonia know how to live. In such a world, how could anyone–much less a young boy no older than five-years-old–survive?

There weren't always Beastmen living in the workers' areas of the Demon Kingdom. They came about only recently.

The reason for them was this: the Demons wanted to create a race that was as strong as beasts but able to follow complex instructions like humans.

So, the Demons enlisted the help of the scientist Kreechur to create the new best working race.

For a whole month, humans were being taken from their homes to aid in the creation of this new race. This month was called "Homeless Hell", named for the fact that a vast majority of the humans taken were those that were living on the street.

The beasts that were used were those held in Cocytus and the surrounding cities, as they were less for work and more for entertainment or training.

By combining bodies, genes, and forcing them to mate, Kreechur tested every way possible to create a new race.

Kreechur found success with all of these methods, except for forced mating, and raised most of his newly created beings himself.

Finally, Kreechur stopped his experiments after creating his final and most perfect Beastman, Donovan, the now-leader of the entire Beastman race.

Then, he released them into the newest area built for them, right next to the humans' area. At first, they were very successful–they were very strong, being able to complete tasks much more efficiently than humans. This led to them being paid more than humans, leaving no Beastmen living on the streets.

The most important part about the Beastmen was not their strength, however, it was their extremely fast reproduction rate.

Despite this high success with the new race, Kreechur was forced to stop their production, as they were more aggressive than the humans, leading to a rebellion that the Demons were slowly losing.

This leads us to today–the Beastmen took Dylan seemingly for the fight against the Demons, but that doesn't make sense to me at all.

For one, he is very young and relatively weak compared to Demons. And the most important fact: he's not a Beastman. The Beastmen hate humans for not choosing to fight the Demons alongside them, breaking a former alliance that had formed between the two races.

'They must know something about him. I have to save Dylan.'

Approaching the Beastmen and Demons I saw earlier, it seemed like I was coming up on a fight that was just ending.

There were three Beastmen, covered in some sort of cloak up to their heads, exposing their monstrous faces.

Two of them looked strangely like Stony Cows, while the other was taller and more humanoid, except for the massive fangs coming up from their lower lip.

The two Stony Cow Beastmen took the bodies of the two Demons, hauling them with ease around a corner.

Checking to make sure there was nobody around, I slipped out of my cover and followed them, only to find that they were gone.

'Where could they have gone? I was right behind them.'

Looking all around, there was no trace of anyone being here except for my own bloody footprints that tracked through the remains of the battle.
