Chapter 6: Habitat System…

Moderator) "Ok! Settle down! Settle down!!!! We have a True Carnage match ahead. Legendary Creatures are set to battle each other until one of them enters the Under.... So let's get the wagers going by showing the Holder's stock in the battle..."

-Bafe- Dredk, Two stars & one planet located within the beautiful Jazca Galaxy... Everything is on the line for this Holder...

(Crowd) "That's a 200 year nest egg, woo, this is a serious battle. What about his heir? If he loses this match there won't be anything left..."

-Ayu- Snag, One Magma Quasar located within the Energy enriched Zogo Galaxy. She has many other estates of prestige but this one has picked the interest of Bafe...

(Moderator) "So now that you see the importance of this Carnage Match, we must make one the favorite... Who takes the Favor and gains the advantage? Remember the wager stage is sealed by blood-pacts... Will it be 'Dredk' the split headed Devil Drake, who was captured as a hatchling from the unsavory Volcane Catacombs? Or will it be 'Snag' the Bunyip who was dragged away as a young one from the Eye of the Milky Way?

The crowd murmured amongst themselves and finally someone blurred out "I want a return of 50 Harlem Mountains in the wake of the Devil Drake winning..." Someone else made an offer, "I'll make a pact for 10 Moons but I say the Bunyip wins...." Two more took votes on the Bunyip, (Moderator) "The results of the wagers is 3-1 in favor of the Buniyip!!! Now let's prepare for our Carnage to begin...

The Kouncil stood up and each put their hand out and sliced open the palm, allowing blood to spill in this golden bowl sitting upon tusks from some former beasts... They all proceeded to drink the Golden Saucer and pass it to those who made the wager. This sealed the deal and put a binding spell within both parties to keep them within proximity of the match....

-shhhcaaa- The thunder crackled across the sky. Right on time as if sending a signal, the white sky would turn grey which further progressed to a dark foggy nighttime sky, all in an instant. The air was thick and sticky. Upon the area of the pit was a marshy swampland. Dark brown water with huge skeletal remains lining the floor nearest to the edge of the water... There were two bone structures replacing the mountain cliffs, the water was not deep as there were a few dead oak trees protruding from under the surface. This was the ugly truth of the Bunyip's dreary & death-ridden marshland of a Habitat...

(BlackBlood) "My opportunity has finally revealed itself... Next bout we shall join in on this Blood-pact and find out everything we need to know about this circle of trash, once the details are revealed we can tidy up here ok little one... Oh and no worries you'll get a snack or two before we leave..."

Dredk cautiously made its way to the edge of the habitat in order to find Snag but couldn't find any tracks alluding to Snag's whereabouts. Dredk jumped onto an oak branch inside the marsh, -Splooosh- The whole tree trunk crumbled beneath its weight. Dredk found its footing within the marsh but something was different, as a noise not too fond of the ears was being echoed throughout the Swamp. The waters around the Drake started to circulate and mix with a red oozing blood surfacing from within.

-yrl-yrl- It was cawing out making this sound as if it was in distress and even moved as if a limb was severely injured in the fall... (Crowd) "This will surely prove to be disastrous for the Devil Drake. It's no way Dredk can win in that death slosh of a marsh with a wound to its lower extremity."

But Snag did not bother with the Drake, where exactly was this Yip? Dredk was sniffing the air to get a scent of where Snag could be. Dredk mucked his way deeper into the swamp. It must've found a scent trail and due to its injury the battle must be hastened...

(Bafe) "Damn it Dredk, now you've found yourself in a real unfavorable position. What will you do now? It's no longer time for the planned attack, you must be able to adapt. That is why I captured you from the very first time I noticed your powers. I knew you would gain the strength to keep us alive."

-Craaaaaoooor- A roar rang out in the opposite direction from the area of the marsh heavily littered with trees and moss and bone piles... -Craaaaoooor- it bursted out again causing Dredk to move in that direction. The area was perfect for an ambush as visibility was limited due to all the buildup of moss, bone and the fog was thicker...

Dredk prodded the area in frantic form tossing moss over its shoulder vigorously. Moving from the moss over to the bone piles, sniffing and clawing away at the base until they crumble, nothing....

Frustration sets in for the Devil Drake, as it hears the sound again but deeper into the marsh as he turns to head in the direction of the provocation -sopsopsopsop- with a leap from behind a tree covered in moss, the Bunyip jumps on top of the Drake and attempts to lock its tusks into the neck of the Dredk....

(Ayu) "Good hunting Snag, now end this wounded creature and let us be done for the day... I trained to be a hunter, we don't fight head up, and coming into Dead Opal Marsh was the perfect set up for us... I feared it was a bad matchup but that BlackBlood took away the voters for Bafe and we were rewarded with being favorites... It must have been fated to us..."

The two beasts interlocked with each other, blood mixing with the water, moss and bones coming up from under their claws, as they pounced on one another to take the advantageous position. But none could be had, both creatures reset themselves a bit then Dredk pressed forward to engage, but in a split second Snag had disappeared again...

Snag submerged itself back under the murky, blood mixed swamp. This is what made Snag very dangerous inside its habitat; he can move freely within the water without giving off any hints to his whereabouts. Dredk did not panic this time, instead it went to a tree trunk and sniffed inside the hollowed bark and Dredk repeated the tendency a couple more times....

(Crowd) "What has he found within that bark that has him repeating this pointless act?? It's no way the creature would be inside there, it's lost all its senses..."

Dredk then stepped back from one tree and Inhaled deeply, then with his exhale came a ball of fire directed at the moss -whooooohhh- the moss rapidly ignited into Hell flames and in a matter of seconds the whole swamp was now ablaze...

With Dredk setting the whole habitat's surface area ablaze, Snag has few options left when it comes to his hit and run tactics...

To be continued...
