Chapter 19: Unmasked Intentions
Vix, Caine, and Mirra made their way down from the flat plateau where they had first emerged, following a winding trail down to the cavern floor. Vix turned her face up, smiling, enjoying the rain, which was oddly warm and pleasant.
A loud, disbelieving laugh burst out of her. “This is amazing!” She thumped Caine on the shoulder. “Can you believe it?”
Caine shook his head, still looking too overwhelmed to comment.
“How can a place like this exist?” Vix asked. She gestured helplessly around her. “This bugging cave is half as big as the mountain! You’d think the whole thing would have to be hollow!”
“The Little Giants are big enough to hold ten Nostroms,” Mirra said. She seemed to be enjoying herself, watching Vix and Caine stare around in amazement. “And the entrance is well disguised. Designed by the Brevali, actually. It’s still a source of pride for many of us.”
She laughed. “Even the young people, like me, who had nothing to do with it at all.”
