Chapter 8

pov Katie

I awoke extremely early, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and went downstairs to prepare breakfast for the three of us. When Auntie Maria entered the house, I was almost finished making pancakes.

"You know that I'm here to handle everything, right?" Auntie Maria simply grinned at me as I jerked back and dropped the knife I was carrying by accident.

I responded while holding the knife and she started laughing, "Good morning to you too and did a good job scaring me off."

"You know you shouldn't be doing all of this, but I didn't mean to scare you away, cutie". She responded.

"But Miss Alexander told me that I wasn't supposed to stay here for free and that I should help you with the housework instead".

"She didn't mean it that way, I'm sure of it, allow me to assist you in setting the table because she will be down soon". When she finished, I realized there were just two dishes on the table.

"Aunty Maria I made extra food so Miss Alexander could take it to work and plenty for the three of us to eat".

She added, "I don't eat in the dining room, and there's no need to make lunch for Lenexa; just give it to Adren," and I remained silent.

After setting the coffee down for Miss Alexander, I went to the table and picked up my plate.

She continued to stare at me silently as I stood in the kitchen and consumed my meal. When I was through, I grabbed the bag as soon as I spotted the huge guy and gave it to him.

Even though my hands were extended to him, he didn't take it; instead, he simply gave me a questionable look.

I told him, "Breakfast, I made lots of pancakes, and Auntie Maria told me you always drive Miss Alexander to work, so I decided to give this to you," and he grinned. His smile made him appear cute.

"Thank you, I appreciate it," he grinned. Just then, I overheard someone clearing their throat just as I was about to speak to him.

When I looked around, Miss Alexander was staring at me suspiciously before turning to Arden and stating, "Let's go." What is wrong with her, I thought to myself. I walked upstairs and began carrying out the tasks she had given me.

As she ate in the kitchen, I saw her get up from the table. I said nothing; I simply let her go and do as she pleased. She grabbed a bag and hurried over to meet Arden as soon as she spotted him. I observed their conversation as he took the bag from her and grinned.

As soon as I got there, I cleared my throat and muttered, "Arden, let's go," without giving her any attention at all. We departed.

When I questioned Arden, "How did you know her," he had already started the car. I could see the surprise on his face as he peered back at me in the rearview mirror.

Unconcerned by my chilly demonstration, he replied, "I don't know her from anywhere, she just brought the food for me this morning and gave it to me."

All I could say was a "Ok" before my sister's call startled me out of my meditative state.

Still lying in bed, she asked, "Are you already on your way to work."

I greeted her with, "Good morning to you as well." She gave me a curious look before laughing.

I looked at her and began giggling. "Anyways, I just called to make sure, you are alive and nothing else so bye."

I constantly urged you, sister, to quit calling me everyday, but you wouldn't budge.

"I just care about you, that's all, but I don't think you need my love," She responded by acting abused and wiped off her fake tears.

As I hung up the phone, she simply stuck out her tongue and I said, "Elena, I have to go by and take your lazy ass out of the bed."

After a meeting, Arden came in and said, "Miss Alexander Katie is missing," and I was still working.

I picked up my phone to call the guards at the house and questioned, "How, when I thought I left her home alone with Maria".

He said with a single breath, "Yes, she claimed after cleaning the up floor she went to have her bath so she didn't bother checking up on her till the evening when she went to check why she hasn't come down yet and she couldn't find her".

Since it was already late, I guess I'll just keep working from home.

I informed Arden why I had contacted my personal assistant and that we should leave, adding, "Go set the car, let's go." To move quickly, I used the personal elevator.

Arden only stated, "I just completed a chat with Elliott. He said she went out to buy some things she needed in the afternoon and she hasn't returned".

I had to look for her as I said, "Drive me to the nearby malls." Honestly, I'm terrified. Just please tell me she hasn't escaped. I'm wondering why I failed to inform them this morning that she shouldn't go outside alone.

The last person we questioned mentioned someone like her, but she left with someone who paid her bills; they both left 5 hours ago, and she is still not home. We sent a driver to many malls, but we still couldn't find her in any of them.

I instructed Arden to park so that we could explore the nearby park since there was one there. When I noticed two individuals kissing on the chair in a tucked-away area, I was already exhausted from walking around. I chose to move in that direction, and when I discovered that Katie was kissing another woman, I was beyond furious.

"What are you doing, Katie?" I yelled. She gazed at me after unwillingly ending the kiss. She wasn't responding at this time, so I grabbed her hands and began dragging her. The jerk who was kissing her was unable to even follow and simply stood by and observed her.
