Chapter 34: The Confusion Never Ends

Caleb walked me to my bedroom, his hand on the small of my back as he guided me. It wasn’t a kind of sweet gesture. It was controlling. One wrong move and he’d rip my spine out.

“Are you going to invite me in?” he asked when I stopped at my bedroom.

“No,” I said, shaking my head.

“I’ve been in your room before,” he pointed out.

“Yes, when I was a child and you weren’t a creep,” I reminded him.

“Hmph. Well, this is my mansion,” he said. He opened the door and nudged me inside. Caleb followed and shut the door behind him.

I winced and walked to the window, putting as much distance between us as possible. I could feel him standing at the door, the heat of his body, the scent of his skin filling the space. It wasn’t my room anymore, not with Caleb there, infecting it with his presence.

“What do you think is going to happen?” I asked. I clutched the curtains in my fists and willing Caleb to stay on the other side of the room.

No such luck.
