Chapter 13: Liam
Autumn’s no longer afraid. Curiosity has taken over and she grabs Duncan’s hand before hurrying forward. She doesn’t know where they are going, but she wants to explore.
“We have to go see Liam first,” Duncan says as she tries to pull him into the city.
Autumn's disappointed, but she allows Duncan to lead her in the opposite direction. She keeps forgetting she’s there against her will as they move past storefronts and even a playground.
“Hurry up, Dunk,” Shane yells as they march along toward a large house.
Autumn starts to worry again as they enter the home. She had been around others while they walked and now she would be trapped behind closed doors again. They step inside a grand kitchen.
The smell of breakfast food causes Autumn’s stomach to growl. She hadn’t looked at the clock back in the trailer, but she guesses it must be early in the morning. A slim woman wearing a patchwork apron walks around the counter to greet them.
