The words replayed in Susan's head. Soulmate! She couldn't believe it. Was he joking? How was he so sure that an 8 year old was his soulmate? It wasn't even funny. But somehow, it felt relieving. She smiled.
"I... I wasn't disappointed!" She said.
"Sure you weren't!" Derek smiled. It was clear he didn't believe her but let it go.
He brushed the loose strands of her hair, which had been dangling with freedom, behind her ear.
"I just didn't want to see you sad, even if you weren't disappointed." He grinned and sat down.
"Does that mean you lied just now?" She asked but he shook his head.
"No! I meant every word." He said and got up again. "Come, there are other places I presume you would like to go before meeting your parents." He extended his arm.
"Yes but," she took his arm and got up. "... before we continue, do you mind if we visit the salon?" She asked and he looked at her puzzled.
"Salon? Who's getting a haircut?" He asked and she smirked.
