Divorce

Scarlett walked in to some noise and she groaned, here it goes again

"We have debts everywhere and the last money left, you decided to spend it on gambling!" Her mother screamed

"I thought I could win that one but don't worry, if you give me a little more money I can use it and win..." Her father said

"And win what?! Your whole life's a mess. Everytime you go back there and waste money gambling and drinking, you think I don't know? Oh I also found out you were cheating, you have been cheating on me for months now and I didn't say a thing, I wouldn't have said anything if you hadn't used some of my money on that whore!!"

Scarlett was getting a headache already.

She chuckled at how distinct her life was at home and in school.

She, Isabella Scarlett Smith was the most wanted girl in all of Moses Lake's High and her life was perfect according to everyone.

She had the beauty and brains, the perfect boyfriend (which she had broken up with but he still called her his gf in front of everyone), the perfect siblings, perfect social media followers (4.2m), the perfect family (as in everyone's view) but, she suffered from depression every day.

All these were fake, she didn't have the perfect life, her family was breaking apart and she and her siblings had to suffer from it. Only Kira knew what she was going through.

Her parents got married due to love but that didn't last since her father was a drunkard, gambler and womanizer, and it made her mom go crazy.

Her twin sister couldn't take it anymore and moved in with her maternal aunt taking her younger brother with her and her elder brother had gotten into college leaving her all alone to deal with them.

Not that she didn't want to run away too but she didn't want to come back hearing the news of her father's or mother's death and she couldn't bear to leave Kira.

"I can't take this anymore! My friends told me, they told me! You can't control this man, leave him but I didn't listen and where am I now? In the middle of debts! I'm done! I'm tired of living this kind of life, for 22 years I've been putting up with you but I can't anymore, let's get a divorce!" Her mother screamed

"What?!! You can't do that!" she screamed

Her mother turned her head to her and her gaze softened.

"Scarlett, babygirl you're back from school. I have something to tell you, come here..." Her mom opened up her hands for a big hug and Scarlett ran into her mother's arms and cried.

"You can't get a divorce mom! You can't leave dad! You can't leave us!"

"Mom knows, mom will take you guys away"

"First you scream at me, then you ask for a divorce and now you're trying to take my children away from me?!" her dad screamed

"They'll be better with me"

"Mom no, think about Mason, what will he have to go through choosing between his parents, he's only 9 years old"

"He won't have to choose, mom will take him and take care of him"

"You can't get a divorce!" she screamed again

"Mom understands how you feel but I can't take it anymore. Think about me too, this can't work out anymore. Scarlett, you've been the only one sticking and dealing with us for the past year, I know what you're going through, I hear you everytime in your room crying. You don't have to choose, you can be with both mom and dad, you can switch at any time" her mom patted her head gently

"But but..."

"It's okay... It's okay"

She burst into tears as both her parents agreed on the divorce.

"It's for the best, we're not compatible with each other anymore"

She went into her room and called her sister.

"They've ended it. They're getting a divorce"

"Oh really? Took them long enough"

"What?"

"You have to admit, a divorce is better than them shouting at home everytime"

"... But they still can't get a divorce"

"It's for the best, they're not compatible with each other anymore. It's okay Scar, I and Mason will come tomorrow"

They chatted for a while until later.

Scarlett fell onto her bed and looked at the ceiling with red eyes. Everything's ended like this?
