Did your parents teach you nothing?“ “Pedophile!” She accused to his face. “Did your parents teach you to marry little girls?” Adrian scoffed. “it’s your father who is trying to marry you off. Take it up with him.” She tried to open her mouth, by the looks of it just blow her garlicky breath on him again. Adrian grabbed her jaw, squeezing her cheeks together, he made her shut her mouth. “Listen to me carefully, Brat,” he whispered, bringing his face closer to hers, “You better hope I don’t say yes to this proposal of your father. Because if I do, I will be shipping your ass off to a behaviour correction facility as the first thing.” Ignoring the sneer on her lips, Adrian patted her cheek forcefully, just for fun, before turning around and leaving her alone in the corner. “It’s on,” she vowed, “I’ll fucking set you on fire.” ***** Joyce O’Sullivan, 19 years old, a perfect age to get married and settled according to her family members, according to the church they went to, and according to the whole society that she did not give a damn about. Moments of love - I

There was this deep, uncomfortable feeling inside her chest that she had been carrying for quite a while now.

A week to be exact.

The feeling returned especially when she was in the presence of George. It deepened when she would notice how he would look at her. The amount of love and her eyes were something even her father did not share for her mother.

The way he would smile at her, his eyes would wrinkle the corners and laughter lines which show, how he would always ask her for the last bite and her favourite, how whenever she would check her Instagram in the morning, she would receive the text of good morning from him.

It did not matter if Joyce had not seen his messages the entire weekend. The three days would have the good morning tracks along with sweet messages day after day, undeterred by the fact that they were not even seen.

His love was blind, truly and she knew if she kept on carrying out this relationship, she might actually turn him blind and then eventually, dead.

"Hey," fingers snapped in front of her, making her jump out of it. "Where have you been the entire day? Did something happen at home?" Geogre asked, his forehead creased in worry.

Look at him, she could not help but think, she was the centre of his world and what was she going to do to him?

"It's nothing, George." Joyce whispered in a raspy voice. "nothing happened at home. Just worried about the upcoming exams."

"Baby," He leaned in and placed a small case on her forehand, "you know you are going to ask them. Don't worry, okay?"

She smiled and nodded before leaving and taking another kiss from him. She loved his kisses.

Joyce hid the grimace Coming up to her face when his lips met with her cheek. Maybe, because her family was present, he retrieved them just as quickly before starting in front of her with a smile on his face.

"It was lovely meeting you, joyce." Cal smiled. "Hopefully, we can do this sometime soon."

Joyce gave him a shy smile before nodding her head lightly. Just one of those dinners again when she had to meet her potential suitors.

Fuck her life.

Sorry god.

With a few more goodbyes and promises to meet again, they finally left the restaurant.

Thankfully, she was in the car with her brother who never left the opportunity to pull her with him. Declan knew very well that she needed a few moments of peace after meeting like these. Those moments with something she could never get with her parents.

They would go on and on about how she was portraying herself, how she could have done it better, what would happen if they said yes and what would happen if they said no.

No, all she needed was silence.

Declan swiftly parked the car into the garage before they both opened their Doors and walked into the house.

Her father was probably in his office and with a case of good night to her cheek, her brother walked into it. It was her mother who was in the kitchen, having an additional glass of wine.

"Is everything alright, Mumma?" She asked, lingering around the door and not walking around.

"It's good," Brianna huffed. "Everything is alright. Go to bed, Joyce. Tomorrow we will go to church."

Church. A place where she had loved to go until a certain period of time, where she realised that God probably was not even paying her enough attention to look at her problems.

God was not going to protect George if anyone from her family or the family that she would marry came to know about their relationship.

Nope, God would not give a damn.

"I have to go to the library tomorrow, mama. Hopefully you can take Aoife." That one was a bit personal.

Brianna huffed in annoyance before she waved her away. "Fine, go."
