Gustav Reveals Another Slice of His Past
"Oh, if that's the case..." his father seemed disappointed, but smiled nonetheless. "Right, we have to take care of our first such big customer. But isn't Mr. Meiden taking too much advantage of you?"
David twitched. The words 'take advantage' had a broader meaning in his situation than his father thought. David recalled today's scene in the Norwegian's office.
"No... Not really. It's just a little difficult for him to adjust to the new conditions."
"Well, yes, alone in a foreign country and not in some crowded place, but in such a dingy province. But now we have a new assignment, so after Sunday you won't be able to devote as much time to Meiden."
Right, thought David. A new job means new responsibilities in a different place. Perhaps they will take him eight hours a day, or even more. And that would mean that he actually won't see Meiden as often. That's a good thing. That's a very good thing.
That's... good, right?
