Chapter One

It was a normal day for me. I was headed to Melbane cafe. I've worked there for two years now. It is probably the nicest cafe around. It pays well enough for me to be able to pay rent. I live in an apartment complex, it's small but manageable. And it's only me and my cat living there. I open the door to Melbane cafe and Hayden waves to me. I smile back as I head to back behind the counter to clock in my shift. Hayden is my best friend, well my only friend. Hayden comes to meet me at the counter after serving a costumer. "Hey" she says giving me a hug. "Hey yourself" I reply. She opens a cabinet door and reaches in to grab a blue shiny paper bag. And hands it to me, "Happy 17th Birthday" she says. I open the bag and pull out a card and a book. The title reads "Murder Mystery volume 3". I smile and give her a hug and tell her "thank you." She responds "I know how much you like the series, now go out there and take some orders." I laughed and went to take some orders. I walk over to the booth by the windows to meet a group of friends. As I walk up to the table four guys talk amongst themselves for a minute before they realize I am standing before them. "May I take your order?" I say. One of the guys glares at me with his piercing blue eyes and silky curly brown hair. As he looks up at me he orders cappuccino's for all the guys to go. I head back to the couter Hayden grabs my arm and pulls me to the back. '"Do you have any Idea who that is!?" she says. I reply "No, and let go of my arm." "sorry. Thats John Jones". I give her a puzzled look. "His dad is in jail for murder." She whispered."Really? I didn't know. Well I'm gonna go give them their drinks." as I head back to the counter I start to make the drinks. I glance back at the table where the boys are sitting and I start to feel bad for John. It's not easy to go through High School with rumors about you. I finish the drinks and put them in a cup holder for them. I walk up to their table and place the drinks at the center of their table. One of Johns friends grabs the drinks and heads out the cafe doors, the other two follow. John places cash on the table without even looking at me and walks out the door.
