Magnus let out a snort at his remark while an arrow deflected Bjorn's sword which made his heart sink. He raised his head to look at Freyja who was still holding her bow with a calm expression like she anticipated this.
" What a magnificent family?! I never believed that rumor where people said your wife was the reincarnation of a goddess but apparently, it wasn't far off from the truth."
Bjorn admired the talent of this family, thinking it was too wasteful to kill them. Maybe they could accomplish what he failed to do so, thus, he quickly crafted a plan inside his brain where he could pave a path for them. No, it was for his people and this might be a chance to get out of the grasp of the empire.
Although he was a powerful leader, his army was much smaller than the empire's and it was a bet for him. Whether Magnus could make it out or not depended on his wisdom.
" Grit your teeth, Magnus. This would be our last fight."
Bjorn didn't say anymore before he pushed himself to Magnus's dagger, making him stab in his abdominal area. The heavy coat coupled with his muscles didn't make it easier for Magnus who lost one arm.
Crash, break*
Yandal blocked incoming arrows with his sword and wood from the ground while Bjorn dragged Magnus with his hand. He threw the weapons from his reach, holding his sword on his throat to show his dominance toward his people.
" Listen. Your leader is in my hands and I demand you to leave this land. Never return here again."
The warriors put their weapons down, looking at Magnus with various expressions but all of them were willing to die for him. He was their pillar and the only leader that allowed them to live freely without war.
" As a leading warrior, I will accept your demand and leave this land."
Freyja stepped forward despite Magnus's dismay. She looked at her husband with a soft face while raising her dagger to show her sincerity.
Cut*
She cut her long hair, throwing it before Bjorn along with her trusted bow. The remaining warriors also accepted this humiliation, throwing away their pride.
" What are you doing? My life isn't important. You have to leave me and get revenge."
Magnus said hoarsely as his hair drifted between his eyebrows. The blood was still oozing out from his injuries but he paid no heed to it.
" You are more important than this honor. Remember what you said before, you said that we are one big family and family doesn't abandon its members."
Freyja smiled gently while her short hair proved her loyalty toward him. Bjorn silently looked at this drama, not saying anything to them because he accepted their deal.
" Go. I don't need you anymore and don't appear in front of me again."
Bjorn pushed Magnus as the latter walked toward his people with shame but at least he saved his son.
" You know my people will return even if it isn't us."
Magnus whispered under his breath while Bjorn laughed off with a shake of his head, telling him that he knew. However, he didn't care for it and it was all in his expectations.
Revenge made people stronger in the end after all and he knew one push was enough.
" Also, I will take this girl with us."
Yandal picked up Helena who was struggling to get free as Ingrid ran toward him with her all might, yet Yandal didn't blink before knocking them out easily.
" I promised that I would look after them and you know this is for the best for them because you know almost half of your people would die during your movement."
Magnus bit his lips until drops of blood squeezed out from it. He let out a roar from his mouth, freeing his heart in the wind but nevertheless, he couldn't do anything since it was true.
" Promise me, you will take care of them."
Bjorn and Yandal nodded while the people left with a complicated expression. The promise was already valid and they had no choice but to leave now. Time wasn't waiting for them and they had to honor their words.
