Chapter 6 - Lovely Cube

All my body felt warm, and I could feel countless particles rushing through my whole body toward my heart and something being created there. It's a strange feeling where I can perceive the object but not actually see it. 

Eventually, the shape of the object became clear. A 3x3x3 rubik's cube with six sides, one of which is golden and the other are silver. Knowledge about this cube instantly appeared in my head; it felt like something I had known before. 

This Rubik's cube had a cringy name like "cube of order." However, I'm okay with that because it got tree traits just after my awakening. 

Usually, an artifact doesn't give anything to the user after the awakening, but in some cases, the artifact brings something called traits with it.

Trait is a unique characteristic of the artifact; it appears randomly and doesn't measure the strength of the artifact itself, but it is undeniable that a trait gives the artifact an upper hand against other items of the same rank. For example, a more common trait like "sharpness" enhanced the weapon's cutting power. 

Somehow my artifact got three of them, and any one of them is an overpowered one. 

The first one is "pure body," a trait that also effects the user. It gives the owner immunity against negative states like curses, poisons, and debuffs. 

While the second trait is called "cube's spirits," where the user can summon a cube's spirit, it is really useful because the cube's spirit is an all-rounder; it could attack, defend, and even support. The cube spirit got half of the user stat; unfortunately, I can't summon any of them right now. I need to wait until I reach level one to summon them because they need soul energy to be activated. 

The last trait I got is called "Nine Pillars." There's no further information about it yet because it's still sealed, but I have a hunch that I can unlock it after reaching the first level. 

My awakening has gone really smoothly, and the light is probably going to disperse any time soon because the suction of the soul particle has begun to shrink and the cube is already shaped. But, then, strange things happened, and suddenly, in the midst of light, a black path appeared in front of me. It looked dangerous, but somehow it attracted me to walk on them, as if they were calling me. My curiosity got the better of me, so, of course, I tried to walk on them. Every step made me experience a thrill; it's the best sensation I've ever had, and the more steps I took, the stronger the calling was. Just as I was at my third step, a hand was touching my cheeks, and somehow, I felt so secure. 

I closed my eyes and enjoyed this moment, like I was going to lose it again, and yeah, it didn't even last a second for me to hear a commotion, a lot of gasp, and some screams from the girls. 

Those voices are so disturbing that I can't help but open my eyes, only to see a gorgeous face emerge into my view. One of his hands is holding my cheek right now, right in front of the class. It's not that I hate it, but it's just that he did it at the wrong place. 

This is so embarrassing! I forgot about my crush, Adrian, because of the awakening. How could I end up in this position ಥ_ಥ?And why the heck his hand didn't flinch after all those commotions? Also, why does he keep staring at me? 

To make it worse, seeing him hold my cheek electrified my whole body. My hands and legs lost their strength, and I just stand there like a dumb statue. My stupid brains stopped working, and the only thing I could think of was "I am dead."

Thank God, Mrs. Smith finally entered the room. I had never been so happy to see a teacher enter the classroom. She then told us to get back to our seats, and I hurriedly rushed to my own seat. 

At the time when I passed Adrian, I heard him mumbling the word "cute." And my brain just exploded like a volcano. 

Luckily, my seat is quite far from his, if not my little heart can't endure it anymore. I don't want to die of a heart attack; what he did before already gave me enough shock. 

The class is starting, but my mind can't stop thinking about him. Everything that happened feels like a dream to me; maybe I'm still dreaming right now. It just feels unreal; the usual cold Adrian would never do any of that to me. I began to doubt that I had accidentally taken drugs. 

I've tried to meditate to calm my brain and stop thinking about him gently holding my cheeks in front of the class with his left hand while his deep black eyes sucked every tiny bit of my soul away. Oh sh*t, I'm thinking about him again.

I'm already hopeless right now; even in the middle of the class, I heard him calling my name. His hand also touched my shoulder, and he called me again, saying the principal wanted to meet me. Wait, what???
