Damn the dinner

Lucia gave a chuckle and took it upon herself to remind her daughter. "Lisa, don't you know Christo-"

"Oh! Oh!" Lisa snapped her fingers, seeming to remember. "You're that guy right? The one who made a fool of himself at Trivedi's? Actually, your video is still trending, the comments are insane. How are you walking around and not embarrassed?"

Christopher's expression grew darker, silently seething in anger. In front such impressive people, what was this girl trying to do? Was she trying to ruin his future?!!

Lisa smirked at the expense of her father throwing more and more apologetic smiles at the offended party. She scoffed, how dare he look at her precious thighs?

"I apologise. She's young, she still can't tell right from wrong", Harold gave an apologetic smile.

"No, I apologise.... For my son, I...", Senator Kewl gave an awkward laugh, embarrassed on behalf of his son.

Yves shook his head mentally, already disproving the dinner that had yet to start. He would have been in his room with Kareena finishing their conversation and- Wait, she had yet to give him an answer. Damn this dinner!

"Alright, let's settle down. The food will get cold", Lucia cut in. Harold gave a disapproving gaze at his wife before settling down to do so.

Alex sat next to Yves followed by his son, Chris. Lisa stood up as soon as Christopher sat down and took her proud self to the other side to join her family, taking the last seat which was next to her mother.

'This b*tch, she's treating me like I have a disease', Chris' lips spasmed from suppressed irritation.

"Harold told me you like wine from Country F, I hope this is to your liking, sir", Alex spoke as he watched the maids fill Tom's glass and everyone's else's.

Tom took a sip and savored it in his mouth. He hummed in approval, "It is quite alright, Senator."

"Come now, what's with the formalities. We're all friends, aren't we?" Harold jokingly disapproved at the two. Tom raised his glass and chuckled into it before sipping on his wine.

"How's the food Claude? Better than what you had in Country F, right?" Lucia probed with a smile, watching him eat.

"You were in Country F?" Christopher's brows rose in awe. Could he be as famous there too? 'That means, international babes too!'

He heard a scoff to his opposite far right. Lisa shook her head as she stabbed a fork into her chicken fueling Chris's anger. What's the deal with this girl?

"...Yes", came Yves' reply after washing down a bite with some wine.

What was he responding to? Lucia's questions or Christopher's? The involved parties exchanged a look, confused. Lucia fought the urge to sneer and pushed on with her nosy self.

"What about a girlfriend? Do you have one Claude?" She gave a gentle smile.

"Lucia, leave the boy alone", Harold chuckled. "Don't mind your Aunt."

"Yes, you can tell Aunt. Do you have someone? If not, what do you think of Lisa?" Lucia pushed.

"Mom!" Lisa cried out in disapproval.

"Why? I think you would make such a beautiful couple."

"Lucia", Harold warned.

"What? Should I give him Sabrina instead?" She asked with obvious distaste.

Harold glared at her. This wife of his! Could she consider the time and place? And the people? On the other hand, Lisa's ears perked up hearing Sabrina's name. Sabrina with a man like Claude?

"I would be okay with it. Mm", Lisa nodded, throwing a beautiful smile at him and flipping her hair back to expose her alluring collarbone. "I mean, with daddy's influence and Uncle Tom's, I think we would make such a powerful couple. Age is a big deal to me but you don't look old to me. Plus, my Instagram would definitely blow up. I can already picture my follower count going up!!!"

"I'm seeing someone", Yves picked up a napkin and wiped the corners of his mouth before dumping it beside his plate, not caring about the slap in the face he had given the mother and daughter pair.

Lisa's smile froze, her dreams being shuttered before they were realized. Someone scoffed. It was Christopher's turn, his lips curved up as he enthusiastically devoured his food that suddenly became a billion times tasty. Only Lisa could see the mockery from his actions inciting anger in her.

"Are you done?" Tom asked his son who was getting up from his seat.

"Have some more. You barely ate", Harold egged on, gesturing at the different dishes served.

"I had a snack before I came down", he answered.

Cough!

The soft sound was heard from the other side of the doors. Claude smirked, "Excuse me."

The man exited the room with a few strides leaving an awkward atmosphere behind him. Harold felt himself grow red. His goal was to make the boy and his father feel loved and supported but his wife and daughter.... they would really be the death of him.

"Tom-"

"Don't worry about him", Tom gave Harold an assuring smile.

His son was a straight forward person, never to mince words or hold a grudge over trivial matters. His reaction tonight was enough and that meant there would be no more hard feelings after.

Still, Harold's hand that rested on his thigh trembled in a clenched fist. Sabrina glanced down at the hand from the corner of her eye. She mentally sighed, he was really angry.
