Chapter 39

Vajra watched her try and stumble away, watched her legs give out and watched her collapse into the snow. He couldn’t move, his head was ringing with all of the emotions that she’d stymied and buried and was now packing into the bond with fury enough to knock him flat. Eventually he managed to push past the emotional storm and go to her. She was curled up in the snow and sobbing like her heart was being torn from her chest. The sound hurt him almost as much as the feelings ripping through him did so he did the only thing he could think of and dropped to his knees in the snow to gather her to him.

“Hey, it’s ok.” He rose with her shaking, sobbing body in his arms and carried her back to the house. “I’ve got you.”
