Chapter 12

It was three days before he heard anything about Ardala. He was out walking on the beach to try and see if he could find any traces of her. He seemed to be drawn to one spot on the beach and stood there. Staring out at the waves with something akin to longing. He just needed to know she was safe. But no one had seen her. Until he did. She came walking up to him like she was in a trance and there was something wrong with her eyes. They were devoid of their usual sharp intelligence and as she reached him, she collapsed bonelessly into the sand with an airy noise that sounded like her soul escaping.
