Story 17 Cursed to Infinity Chapter 3

For a moment I actually thought I was in Attack on Titan, as the main city of Kyoto was surrounded by a forty-meter tall, and twenty meters thick solid stone or something wall with Kamo telling me how the wall was famous for having some of Tengen's bones in it.

Her bones actually creating a barrier that would keep cursed spirits, devils, and demons out of the city. However, the barrier wasn't that effective for enhanced animals.

And dealing with the wild animals that got into the city was the main job of the Hunter's Guild. But regardless, I was basically convinced to stick around in Kyoto's Jujutsu Tech Branch.

"Anyway, we are going to bring you to our Vice-Prinicpal so you can hash out some kind of deal on what your responsibilities will be." Mai said as she closed her flip phone with a snapping noise as I was watching out the window of the humvee and taking in Kyoto's state of being.

As within the city... Well, it was a lot like looking at an ultra-modernized South American city, some really nice parts in the mountainous terrain, but some parts were ragged, destroyed apartments that looked unfit to live within even disregarding how they got destroyed in some battle. But as for the people I saw passing by us.

It didn't look like they were starving or facing major malnutrition or something so the food shortage probably wasn't too bad yet. 'Actually could I use shouts to enhance crop growth or something?' I thought before shrugging as I responded to Mai. "Alright, who will I be meeting?"

And all three in Mai, Kasumi, and Kamo gave me weird looks before Kasumi snapped her fingers and said. "Ah! He is from the boonies so he doesn't know haha!"

I blinked and Kamo coughed saying. "Ah, that makes sense. Anyway, yes the Vice-Principal is famous as one of the few Special Grade Sorcerers in the world. He crippled the Youkai Devil and enslaved it to provide the walls with its spiritual power and magic!"

I leaned wondering who this guy was. Was it someone new to the setting? Hell could it be a Chainsawman character who instead became a sorcerer like Kishibe?

Dear gods Kishibe would be fucking overpowered with Cursed Energy. But instead, Kasumi actually blushed as she said. "Yeah even without any cursed energy, cursed technique or even a devil's contract. Toji Fushiguro is the fastest and strongest sorcerer!"

My mind flatlined hearing the name Toji Fushiguro and then it hit me! If Tengan had been dead for more than thirty years at this point. That meant that there was no mission for the Star Plasma Vessel meaning that Toji would never die against Gojo there.

And Kasumi with stars in her eyes gushed about how great, how awesome, and how... Handsome Toji was. "Oh Toji is just so great! He is a good but stern father to his handsome son who is in our same year but he went to Tokyo Jujutsu Tech to spread his wings. And he is an inspiration to everyone without a cursed technique or just a weak one! As even without one he crafted his body into a weapon and then rose up through the ranks in the Hunters Guild to provide for his son before retiring when he killed the Spider Devil but got poisoned by the Devil."

I nodded with respect at hearing that as I realized that the Spider Devil with the fear humanity had for spiders... Was going to be a very, very strong devil honestly. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised to hear if the spider wasn't at the primal fear devil level like the Darkness, Death, and other such devils.

Either way with that thought done I said. "So he is a major badass. So what is he like though?" I asked wondering if his personality changed.

All three of the sorcerers shared a look of consternation before Mai said bluntly. "He is a scoundrel... He drinks, gambles, fights, and has civilian women join his bed with his wife, when she allows it... But besides his vices, he is a rather relaxed person. So long as you aren't trying to bully anyone in front of him."

My lips twitched at the depiction of Toji but then again. That was basically him. So I nodded and the rest of the ride was silent as the trucks behind us peeled out of our convoy line and went their separate ways.

Kyoto Jujutsu High was utterly beautiful honestly. The school was built atop a mountain surrounded by forests on the edge of the Kyoto walled-in section with the back part of the school reaching the wall itself where there was actually a heavily guarded exit into the main world where students would leave to do animal hunts in the surrounding mountainous forests. 

The school itself was built in a mix of an ancient Japanese castle and a more modern school and the air itself... It just hummed with life, no hummed with spiritual energy.

Seeing me taking a deep breath to fill my body with that wonderful spiritual energy Kasumi chuckled and said. "Yeah both Kyoto and Tokyo High have the remaining soul shards of Lord Tengen, and their presence in the barriers that surround and reinforce the school. Will attack enemies, and help the Jujutsu Sorcerers in the school recover their cursed energy and vitality to help them train!" 

Noritoshi Kamo added more seriously as they led me through the almost empty hallways of the school. "That. And the barrier will heavily suppress and target devils specifically meaning that even Devil Contractors won't try to pull any of their games in our area."

Then Kasumi split off as she got a text saying she was needed by someone and then Kamo looked over to Mai and said with a 'smile' "Mai, you go and take Jake to the Vice-Principal. I have clan duties to take care of." Mai's face became pained and awkward at his order, but regardless she nodded while Kamo nodded his head respectfully towards me before turning on his heel and going down a different hallway.

'I wonder why Mai looks like she bit into a lemon instead of an apple.' I thought wryly seeing Mai's sour expression as she led me to the Vice Principal's location while I considered things but in the end, it wasn't my family drama as I certainly wasn't a Zenin.

Once we reached his office however, before Mai could even knock, we heard a bored voice draw out. "Come in." And as Mai all but kicked the door in after twisting the knob. I got to see Toji Fushigoro.

And he looked a bit older having actually lived for an extra decade longer than he was supposed to in canon with his muscular form laid out lazily across a couch with a literal face mask with the words [Super Dad] written across the eyes covering face mask that he had moved atop his head to look at me.

"Huh... Yeah, his ass is as green as it comes." Was his instant evaluation making me smile wryly before I shrugged and walked into the office as Mai silently left without saying a single word.

Toji with a groan sat up and cracked his neck loudly as he spoke plainly. "Alright, so Jake right?" At my nod he continued. "So, I am going to keep this shit as simple as possible as I hate complicated things... You can heal yourself and others right?" 

Once again I nodded and before I could explain anything he held up a hand with a yawn escaping him as he said bluntly. "Like I said before! No complicated shit, you can heal, I will keep your ass alive and make sure those new psycho hunters don't make your soul meltdown from overusing your technique or whatever."

Then his face became sharp as he looked at me seriously as he basically outlined our entire contract. "Now along with an allowance to the school cafeteria, you will also have an apartment and a teacher's salary for the time you heal students and graduated sorcerer mercenaries who come in for missions and healing. Any questions?"

His face clearly looked like he most certainly didn't want me to ask any questions but I naturally had some but seeing my face he sighed and with some annoyance he said. "Alright fine! You drive a hard bargain, here." He said pushing a book... No a thick photo album into my arms making me blink in surprise as he then tossed a smartphone atop it as well.

"There, pick one of the civilian girls in there to be your servant... We need more sorcerers and they obviously don't want to get eaten by a fucking ghost in the poor unmonitored civilian side of Kyoto so it all works out when everyone impregnates their maid! Anyway, get out before I decide to see how well you can heal yourself." 

'That wasn't a fucking idle threat!' I thought shivering as my flesh erupted in goose bumps along with my hair raising as his intent to fucking whoop my ass made me want to puke at how strong Toji was.

I took a breath as I calmed down and Toji chuckled but I still heeded his words as I ran out with a literal waifu catalog of girls who were apparently selling themselves to get away from having their souls eaten by spirits that were born inside the barrier and thus were not controlled by the walls barriers.
