Magical Ascencion Chapter 5 Commissioned by Wrath of Vajra and Asuna

My mother rushed into my room first with her having the higher cultivation and as she came in, I could see her mana roiling as she obviously was prepared to attack any kind of beast that had come in... But seeing me just sitting there on my meditation mat with the gaping hole with my own form still leaking out the golden mana of my first astral element spell she figured out real quick what the issue was.

"You decided to use an untested, unknown, never-before-seen spell in the middle of your bedroom didn't you..." Her voice drawled and yeah I could only shamefully nod as she visibly took a breath before shaking her head.

"Congratulations Jake..." My mother said as my father and two siblings peeked around the corner she looked at Taihou and she smiled evilly. "You have been in high school for four years and yet you haven't ever brought home a girlfriend so you get to room with Taihou for the next couple of days while we fix this room. Can't have you eaten by any random minion tier monster after all." My mother said vindictively at my fuck up.

Now I wanted to pout and say that a minion monster wouldn't kill me... But monsters here in this universe were hilariously stronger than humans, even with magic. As it typically took five mages versus the same tier monsters to win if the mages didn't have special talents or elemental spirits blessing their elements to make them stronger.

Because monsters would naturally form mana cores within themselves that would strengthen their entire body and give them access to the element they were aligned to without needing to use a cumbersome spell that a human would need to create within themselves. They simply were stronger than humans in all cases with the only exception being that humans were obviously more intelligent until the mid-stage of monster evolutions and then the monsters matched humans in intelligence leaving us completely in the dust.

"I would further say you are grounded, but you will be too busy working on your magic and dealing with Taihou attempting to molest you and getting me that grandchild I wanted..." My mother shook her head clear of her baby's crazy thoughts and even my father's face twitched at my mother's one chink in her cold demeanor in wanting kids to spoil.

"But either way come with us and show us what your magic is in the training room." My mother finished and her long blond hair trailed behind her as she left while my father inspected the hole through the armored wall.

Alice actually walked over as well and she flicked the jagged metal edges of the hole and she spoke. "It was a pure force that drove your spell through the wall. Unlike lightning or fire magic there was no heat involved nor was there any magical residue from other elements I could recognize." Alice spoke much to my father's approval while Taihou being the perverted goblin she was had already nabbed my blankets and my pillows for her to be helpful and take to her room...

"Well let's get going to the training room guys," I called out wryly as I felt my mother's mana pulse down the hallway telling me to get our ass moving. So my father snorted before he glowed with dark yellow light as he raised up his hand and dark obsidian-like stone covered the hole into my room so in fact no monsters that felt all the mana pulses come check out for an easy meal.

So with the exception of Taihou who ran off to take my bedding over to her room and quickly rejoined us we all just made our way to the training/experiments room.

More for testing out magical weapons and tools to make sure they would only explode when they were supposed to, the test site was deep underground and even more thickly armored with special nonmagically conductive materials as we also kept the valuable materials down here as well.

"So Jake, have you discovered what type of element you have awoken?" My mother questioned as she folded her arms in front of me and I nodded unsurely as until I locked more magic I couldn't really be sure honestly.

For all I knew instead of Astral/Cosmic elemental effects, I could have actually awakened something weird like 'Fate' elements or something but either way I spoke out my thoughts as I glowed with the golden mana that formed when I connected the star map of my internal stars to make the glyph that acted as the system in which to summon the miniature planetoid to throw.

I held up my hand and at my mother's nod, I engaged the star map within myself which made the silhouette of Ishtar on her boat/bow form beneath my feet. "If I am correct my element is closer to those more esoteric advanced elements like Bless, Darkness, or Summon, as I believe my element is that of something like Astral or Cosmos." I started making my mother's eyes widen as I continued to explain "The ingrained spell allows me to shoot a compressed shadow of the planet Venus." I finished and my mother visibly closed her eyes and seemed to count to five internally before her typically cold ice-blue eyes focused on me.

My mother briefly glanced at my father and spoke up. "Dear, take out an Advanced Mage shield so we can see the damage it can cause." At my mother's request, my father raised an eyebrow but still took out a large ornate shield that was coated in thick sharp fish scales that formed an interesting design.

"Now Jake, as you know we in America call our magical tool ranks based on the level of mages that they are best suited to be used at." She explained and thus an advanced mage shield would be a rank 3 shield. So the treasure level would coincide with the human mage ranks with the numbers being the levels of Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Super Mage, and then finally the last rank for human mages was the Forbidden Curse realm.

"That shield won't attack rebound the attack will it..." I asked dryly and my mother froze and looked at her husband, my father who only looked sheepish before he changed out the shield for a different one. "Anyway, when it did blow past the walls I heard it explode," I warned him and he nodded moving away with a wry smile obviously not thinking much of my Novice spell.

So with everyone out of the way, I finished the star map within myself calling upon the spell of Ishtar's fury 'An Gal Ta Kigal Šè' in which she smashed the Sacred Mountain Ebih. But as I spent more time pulling at the spell I realized that the golden sphere of Venus didn't form purely out of my own mana. No, my mana instead seemingly opened a portal in which the planetary orb of Venus was gently ejected out of to hover above my hand.

Then I held out my hand and the orb shot forward at a blur of speed toward the shield. And with a loud gonging noise, the orb impacted the metal shield and then the golden planetoid violently exploded into purple light filling the back of the firing range with its purple flame-like light.

I couldn't help but grin as I realized how the spell didn't even cost me much mana though on the other end the spell formation in my star path was taking longer than I had seen other novice mages take. Even my father and mother John and Olivier were surprised as hell when they saw what happened to the metallic shield.

Although it wasn't pierced or otherwise destroyed, where the orb had smashed into the shield it had completely deformed the shield with the thicker metal stretching as it looked like a pillow that got punched with the spherical shape of the planetoid pushing out the back before it exploded.

"Well, I suppose you will in fact do well at the talented youth meeting this weekend." My mother spoke wryly as she took in the practically ruined tier-three shield that I had fucked over with a single spell. But at her words, I raised an eyebrow.

"What do you mean mother?" I asked as the whole teenagers fighting one another wasn't something unexpected, to say the least, but her expression made me feel like something was up. And I was proven right as she responded tiredly.

"Jake..." She said unsurely before continuing on when Taihou came over and stood beside me making her roll her eyes. "The noble families due to some issues are trying to force the younger generation to work together to collect resources for the future events to come. Basically, the pocket realms and main dimensional gateway that created the Great Lake are acting up and only weak mages can actually explore the unstable minute realms full of natural treasures like elemental spirits and such." She explained and I got what she meant.

Basically, the Great Lake was expanding again and thus as it expanded it would leave pits in its dimensional wake that was left behind at the edge of the lake's growth. Imagine a glacier ever so slowly going down a hill and gathering speed and in its grinding it would leave large fissures in the group that could be explored that would have valuable treasures.

"So the noble families as well as the other more important groups are putting together the stronger younger generations into teams to explore these short-lived pocket realms and looting them to the ground?" I asked wryly as I saw what she was getting at. As the Great Lake wasn't actually a lake anymore.

Sure there were in fact large pools of water within the Great Lake but it earned its name for being a large almost liquid dense fog of dense magical energy that from a distance looked like the reflective gently waving waves of dark lake water. But in reality, once you walked into the lake the 'water' would part around you and you could even breathe said water without issues so long as you were at least a Novice mage so you could handle the stupidly dense magical dense air.

At my words, my mother nodded with a frown as she explained in further detail. "Correct Jake. Instead of having the kids fight one another to see who is the strongest and will thus receive resources from the city itself to represent us in the US's tournaments around the state and beyond, they will instead have you pair up in trios to take on minion tier monsters as that will be what you are likely to run into within the short-lived pocket realms you will loot for resources." She explained and my face twitched as I realized Ai Hoshino already knew this.

"Yeah..." My mother drawled as she eyed me with a funny look. "That Hoshino girl already knew and got your ass locked down, don't let her or her family take an inch as they are shameless and will take everything they can before running off." She said dryly reminding me of the times members of that clan came to buy magic tools at our shop and would try to haggle our clearly marked prices for our magic tools.

Or more annoyingly they would literally come into the store with the looted remains of other mages or monsters to turn them in to get new magical tools.

It's really hard to like a clan when they regularly sell you back something you sold to an explorer two days ago and that dude's blood was fucking still on the magic tool and warm at that due to being instantly thrown into a space ring/bag once looted...

I shook my head before smiling wryly. "What's the exposure rate for this exploration?" I asked wondering what kind of escort we would be having as the Great Lake was almost a forbidden land with how dangerous it was in its deepest depths but the stupid excess of resources constantly forming and being shot out of its dimensional storms made it too lucrative and important to the United States's Mages.

At my question, my father actually answered gruffly. "All the noble clans will be sending a number of Advanced Mages, with the Raiden sisters both coming as well to make sure no pack or higher-ranked monsters will mess with you. As those two have some agreements with the Commander and some of the more local Monarch monsters." He finished with his face turning soul at the reminder of the two girls that fucked up our car for some petty dick-measuring contest.

So in short, I was going to be stuck with Ai Hoshino for a test to kill a monster and then possibly for several days as we loot little pocket realms of materials... 'Oh, fucking joy. I wonder who will be the other member of our trio of misfits?' I wondered sardonically and then I noticed my mother and father sharing looks making me raise an eyebrow in confusion.

But those thoughts were shut down as my mother ordered Taihou and Alice out of the room. "Girls we need some time with Jake for a minute step outside please." She spoke with uncommon kindness and both of my adopted sisters only blinked before nodding and leaving without any drama.

"Something up?" I asked wondering if there was some kind of issue coming up with the trip but my mother shook her head before biting her lip and looking at my father who finally spoke awkwardly.

"Son... This is a bit awkward but your mother has a special physique or talent." He said wryly my eyes dulled and my soul died a little as I tried to internally scream louder than my father's words. "You see, your mother has what she calls the Empress's Privilege and after having sex with her partner she can copy an element of the cultivation level of that person she slept with..." For a moment I literally thought he was going to ask me to sleep with my fucking mother but as he continued I couldn't help but loudly exhale in pure fucking relief making him snort as even he knew his words were sus as fuck!

"Anyway, I being the best magic smith of one of the most resource-rich areas in the world have gotten some interesting artifacts that have washed up from the dimensional gateways so with her copying my summoning element I never use, we extracted the copy from her into a forbidden magic tool." He explained and I frowned hearing his words as the term forbidden magic tool was no joke.

For to have one and be seen with it by the law-abiding people of the world was a death sentence... Literally, mages can and will you kill you on sight if they catch you carrying one as those forbidden magic tools were typically magic tool bombs that used cores of stupidly powerful or magic-rich monster cores to explode. But removing a mages elements was also forbidden.

"Dad..." I drawled out but he held up a hand as he looked at me seriously.

"Jake, monsters are breaking into the city more than ever with more and more civilians being just taken into the Fog above us. And only their remains are dropped when the monster is done with them..." He visibly took a breath that made his beard fluff outwards.

"I want you to be safe and this is a special magic tool. Yes, it captured my still Novice tier summoning magic copy but the magic tool itself will merge with yourself naturally so we will just say that we gave you a heavenly treasure we got while exploring the depths of the Great Lake and no one will be able to say anything." He finished and then he held out a purple orb that swirled with the darkness of spatial elements while also tinged with the gentle light of life itself.

So knowing it wasn't actually costing my father any element as he hated the thought of sharing resources with whatever monster he summoned as he needed the resources with his obsession in crafting magic tools. And that the magic tool already had an excuse ready for why I got a third element in being a heavenly treasure which although stupidly rare uncommon did have a precedent in the heavenly treasure the Raiden twins found that allowed them to merge their bodies together to temporarily reach the Forbidden Curse Mage rank as a singular being.

I nodded to my father who I could see smiling happily under his thick beard as I held up my cupped hands and as my father tilted his hand to the side to drop it into hand I saw the goofball-sized orb merge into my hand while my father spoke out wryly. "Well son, I will send in the girls so they can comfort you." I raised an eyebrow and as my father sent me a thumbs up I felt my body stiffen in an arc of agony that felt like I got fucking tased. As I went stiff and about to face plant my mother tittered as she helped me to comfortably lay on the floor so I could have a seizure of agony on the floor while the girls came in screaming seeing me flopping about like a fish out of water.
