Adiria exhaled deeply as she tried talking to the soldiers but none of them were listening to her and she gritted her teeth and clenched her fist as they took her into a room then closed the door behind them and she scoffed.
"What is the meaning of this?" She asked as they placed her on the ground then she turned around, punching one of them in his face and the other one gasped.
"Hey, I told you to put me down, didn't I? What do you think you are doing? As a matter of fact, why did you bring me here?" She asked as she noticed a few people looking at them from behind and her brows furrowed as she turned around.
"Hello, miss," A woman said as she stepped forward and Adiria's eyes widened when she saw it was the woman she helped earlier.
"It's you..." She mumbled.
The woman smiled before nodding and approaching her, she was tall, slim, was dressed elegantly and had long curly dark blue hair with shimmer blue eyes and a slim face.
"I am sorry, I am the one that told them to find you and bring you to me earlier, but I didn't expect they would do it in this way, please forgive them for being blockheads," She said and Adiria chuckled as she glanced back at them.
"It's okay, it's nice every once in a while, to have blockheads around you, ma'am," She replied as she bowed her head, knowing that the one was one of the emperor's women.
"There is no need to bow your head, take a seat, let's talk for a bit," She said and Adira nodded then sat down on a chair, opposite of her.
"My name is Anyel, I am a lady of the palace and the emperor's, nice to meet you," She said.
"My name is Adiria, I am the daughter of a sword master and a normal commoner, nice to meet you as well, ma'am" She replied with a slight smile on her face, as the woman stared at her features.
'Why on earth is she staring at me like that? She isn't into women, is she?' She thought as she felt a shiver run down her spine and she flinched at the idea.
"I know I sent them to find you, but I didn't expect for you to be here, what brings you to the palace, Adiria?" She asked.
"I am here for a job, it's time I learn to make a living for myself, so I can help my family when they need it," She responded and Anyel smiled at her.
"Is that so? What kind of job do you want?" She asked.
"Any as long as the pay is good," She responded with a grin and Anyel chuckled.
"I like you, I will make sure you get a good job here, but you will be working for me, is that okay?" Anyel asked and Adiria glanced at her.
"It's okay but why are you helping me?" She asked and the woman got up for where she was sitting and approached Adiria.
"Because I like your spirit, the energy that comes from you makes me feel at ease, plus consider it a thank you gift for earlier, you will be moving into the palace after the job is given," She responded as she moved a strand on the girl's hair from in front of her eyes, to the back of her hair
Adiria glanced at her and blinked then she felt a shiver down her spine and she swallowed with a blank expression in her eyes, knowing that she couldn't back out and had a bad feeling about that.
"You will be my caretaker, don't worry, you won't have to wear any sort of uniform or so on, you will be given a nice chamber here as well since you are not a servant, it won't be in their quarters, relax, so will you accept?" She asked as she leaned in closer to the girl, with sparkling and excited eyes.
'Damn, I think I am in trouble now and there is nowhere to run,' She thought with a slightly nervous smile, when she felt the gazes of some of her maids, piercing through her and Adiria's eyes narrowed.
"Fine, I accept the job offer," She said and Anyel hugged her tightly and she flinched.
'What's with this situation? Are the gods against me? Can't I have a normal day in my life?" She asked then exhaled deeply before standing up.
"Can you start tomorrow?" Anyel asked and Adiria looked at her.
"Sure, thank you for the job, my lady," She responded and Anyel glanced back at her.
"It's okay, you can go home, tomorrow morning, these two will be there to get your things, you will also meet the emperor's right-hand man here, so don't be shocked when you do and one advice, don't get on his nerves, " She said and Adiria sighed.
"I will be sure to do my best not to even bump into him, don't worry, I will do my job well," She replied and Anyel smiled at her.
"Good, I am glad to hear that, it's going to be night, run along home, I will see you tomorrow," She said.
Adiria bowed her head to Anyel, then she turned around and left the room, exhaling deeply as a few thoughts ran through her mind.
"I am doomed now," She mumbled and one of the guys that brought her to Anyel heard her and he chuckled then she left.
Just as she was about to leave, she felt a strong gaze on her and her eyes narrowed then she turned around but saw no one nearby and she exhaled deeply.
'Am I imagining things now or was someone just passing by? I think I am going to need a vacation, too much has been happening, I might go crazy soon enough, whatever,' She wondered then shrugged.
The girl left, while the person who was looking at her, eyes narrowed and a smirk appeared on his face as he left within the shadows of the night and a little while after, the girl returned to her uncle's home.
