Forcing to accept the idea that the show he once watched as a kid is not, in fact, fictional has taken a massive toll on him, torn as he is between the awesomeness of his new found powers as well as it's absurdity of how everything came to be, he will do what humans do best, he will overcome and adapt and greatness will follow. to read chapters ahead go to www.patreón.com/cornbringer.

———————————————————————

The very next morning, we embarked back to the mission at hand, and rushed to the Turtle Lion, with the most youthful bear as a guide, we arrived there before the night started to set.

The Fire Bear, with consideration to my mission of talking alone with the Lion Turtle, left me to go and talk alone with it, as to not disturb our conversation in any way.

"I'LL WAIT FOR YOU!" The Bear shouted happily.

Taking a deep breath I approached the ancient spirit halfway through. The spirit turns at me, fixing a sharp pair of eyes at me, giving me a scrutinizing look, as if sizing me down. The ancient spirit blinked slowly, as he hummed thoughtfully at my presence, puffing a big cloud of smoke out of his mouth.

"So you're the one the primordials have been talking about," The Ancient Spirit, rasped curtly. "Not exactly what I expected."

Trying not tell him, fuck you, I politely asked what he meant, not sure what the assholes above him had told him about me, maybe good things, maybe bad ones, either way fuck them.

"They said you are unique, an anomaly… but all I see is another human," The spirit added with disdain.

Racist much, "I came here to ask you something, if that's okay…"

"Verywell, ask away child," The Spirit said in a tired tone.

"What would happen if I merged with Vaatu, would he control me? Or would I be in control... would we fight for control?" I asked, deciding it was best to go straight to the point, apparently the Turtle didn't like me… so I wanted to get things over with.

"Vaatu… the spirit of chaos, that's an intriguing question," The Turtle chuckled, though there was no emotion behind it, "The answer would be… you, you would be in control, Vaatu would be merging with you not the other way around, but if your spirit is weak… he could corrupt you… and eventually take control of your actions, I suppose you want to merge with that child,"

"I was thinking about it," I nodded.

"Then… come closer," The Turtle said with annoyed sigh, "I will give you a piece of knowledge… that will help you with this plan you have,"

I eyed the spirit in shock, I was sure he didn't like me, and yet he was offering to help me, it was… weird, but I won't say to no to free help, "I thought you didn't like me,"

"I don't like you… and I never will, humans destroyed and killed my brothers and sisters for sport, and only a few of us remain, but I don't hate you enough to let Vaatu control you…" The Ancient spirit replied, "I will give you the tools to even the playing field… that way, it will be your absolute fault if you lose control…"

Well, I suppose that's a very valid reason to hate humans, I know would too, with nothing more to do, I did as I was told and approached the spirit, who slowly moved one of his paws, to touch me, with one claw on my head, and one on my chest.

Immediately after knowledge poured in like breaking a dam, it was… overwhelming, the principles of energy bending, "In the era before the Avatar, we bent not the elements, but the energy within ourselves. To bend another's energy, your own spirit must be unbendable, or you will be corrupted and destroyed… remember this… for if your spirit fails... or you have doubts, Vaatu will reign supreme over you,"

"Holy…" I gasped, as the turtle went back to its original position.

"Now… begone, I want to sleep, and your presence here is no longer welcomed," The Ancient spirit roared with enough strength to send me flying a few hundreds miles away from him, creating a portal just where I was going to land, avoiding a violent crash with the ground.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Landing like a sack of potatoes, I groaned as I slowly stood up, finding myself back to where I had started my journey, at Vaatu's.

"I take it… it didn't end well," Vaatu commented with something reminiscent of a smirk on his expressionless face.

"It went… well, I actually don't know how it went," I chuckled, "I mean… I got what I wanted… but I think I have been banned from the Fire Peninsula… not sure though," I shrugged.

"Have you come to a decision then?" Vaatu asked, ever so impatient.

"Yes, let's do this…" I nodded as I remembered what the spirit had told me, that to bend another's energy, my own spirit had to be unbendable, or I would be corrupted and destroyed…

"Very well," Vaatu said, trying to hide his excitement, and failing miserably, "Enter my prison… so we can become one,"

"Alright," I nodded, as I slowly walked towards the tree keeping Vaatu in place, wondering with each step if this was a good choice, was I perhaps being an idiot? Or was this actually a wise decision.

"Our merge will be unlike any other… I will do what the coward of Raava didn't do… I will show her once again who is the best!" God the inferiority complex on this guy is massive… but it will do me well, if that means more power for me.

"We will definitely kick their merged ass," I chuckled.

"A….. that's a way to put it," Vaatu growled in agreement, before he continued on his speech about how powerful we would be.

I was in the meantime walking, with each step weighing me down like a rock in a river, I wasn't scared… but even then, this decision felt like a big step in my life… that would change everything.

"Alright Vaatu," I said as I stepped through the barrier keeping him in place, without doing anything to the barrier in question… the barrier didn't even flinch, it just let me walk right through it… well, not that I cared why it doesn't work keeping people out, "Let's become the edgy version of the Avatar,"

"Yes we will…. The what?" Vaatu asked, shaking his head immediately after, "I don't care…. Let's do it," the incarnation of chaos glowed, and rushed at me without hesitation, disappearing out of sight as his body went inside of me, seconds later, I felt pain, and then… memories, or rather flashes of things that didn't make sense, as my body glowed in a dark colored energy, feeling by the second how Vaatu became one with me, as he fought for control of my body, but his torture was a breeze compared to what I had previously experience, it almost made me what to thank the Primordials, but no.

After the tug of war for control, that I had for now won, came a wave of power, lots of it… I felt nearly unstoppable, "So we are one now?" I asked myself, hearing a voice inside my head whisper, YES.

"Perfect," I chuckled, as I slowly opened my eyes, that now sported a glowing red color as raw power coursed through me.
