Chapter 4: First Combat Mission (1)
Tai Lung, Age 5
After discovering his current situation and his system, Tai Lung immediately went into training. But that was in secret.
He couldn't show his sudden change of behavior in front of his mother or father; otherwise, they would think that their child had been possessed by some evil spirit.
My dad was out at the port for his new job as a fisherman while my mom was left at the house to do the chores, which meant both of them were too busy to notice what I was up to. This gave me the perfect opportunity to sneak away and train.
"Mom!" I approached my mother.
Kersha, who was hanging the newly washed sheets, turned around to look at me with a smile.
"Yes, dear?"
"Can I go out and play?"
"Of course, my baby, just be careful outside and be back before sundown," she said and kissed my forehead before returning to her chores.
With her permission granted, I wasted no time. Instead of heading to the town square to play with other kids, I made my way to the forest near our village.
That forest is the only place where I can have some semblance of privacy for training, so naturally, that's where I'm heading.

For two years, I have been doing nothing but grinding my stats. Despite my system being called [Martial Unity System], I haven't learned any martial arts yet, which is pretty disappointing since I was really excited to learn one.
"Status," I whispered, and a floating screen popped up in front of me.

"That's a pretty good stat," I said to myself, proud of my achievement.
Considering that I only train two times a week to not destroy my weak body and give it adequate rest, that's still a good stat.
I've been training for two years. Considering there are 104 weeks in two years and I only train twice a week, that's 208 sessions.
Each session increases each of my stats by 0.1. So, that's 0.1 x 208, resulting in a 20.8 stat increase. Adding that to my original stats gives me a total of 22.8.
Is that correct?
Yeah, I think that's correct. I'm too lazy to double-check.
What's great about my stats is that they're well-rounded, which gives me a greater aptitude for a variety of martial arts.
"Yup, looking good as always!" I exclaimed. After admiring my efforts, I clenched my fist and said, "Time for the training!"
And so I started completing each of those sessions in the quest.
Completing them took about two hours, and by the time I was done, my stats had increased to 22.9. I was completely exhausted, my body going limp.
Sweat trickled down from my forehead and my back, soaking my clothes.
"Hooo!" I breathed out deeply, slumping on the ground, heaving heavy breaths.
As I laid there, staring up at the peaceful sky, I couldn't help but reflect on everything that had happened since I came to this world. It's been five years, and I still can't believe I'm in the world of Avatar.
The sheer craziness of it all sometimes hits me out of nowhere, especially in quiet moments like this. Time goes by so fast when you're caught up in something you love, and even though I've been training like a madman, it doesn't feel like a burden.
In this world, I have a complete and happy family, unlike the broken and toxic one I had in my previous life. It's strange how even though my past life was full of convenience, comfort, and luxury, none of that really matters to me now.
There's something about this place—the bending, the martial arts, the sheer magic of it all—that has completely captured me.
I'm willing to leave everything behind just to be here, to see what this world has in store for me.
Bending and martial arts. Just these two alone are enough to make me throw away everything I once knew.
As I drifted into these thoughts, I felt a renewed sense of purpose.
I'm still at the beginning of my journey, but I know that every drop of sweat, every aching muscle, every moment of exhaustion is leading me somewhere incredible. Somewhere I can truly belong.
As I was laying down on the ground, I heard a sudden rustle behind the bush. Immediately I stood up from my position and assumed a clumsy fighting stance.
I held my hands at the level of my chest while slightly outstretched in an awkward manner. The bush once again rustled making me tense up.
And then from it emerged a boar. A boar just half of my height.
DING!
[QUEST: First Combat Mission

]
My first combat quest. My first real fight. Despite the danger and the nervousness seeping through me, a sense of excitement was permeating in my existence.
The reward was especially enticing. Finally, a chance to purchase martial arts from the [Martial Store] and bein my journey through this perilous world.

The boar stood there, snorting and pawing at the ground, its beady eyes locked onto mine. For a moment, I just stared back, heart pounding in my chest.
This was it—my first real fight. My hands shook slightly as I tried to steady my breathing, but I couldn't help the surge of excitement that coursed through me.
I had trained for this, worked tirelessly to strengthen my body. But this wasn't just a training dummy or an exercise—this was real.
The boar snorted again, lowering its head as if it were ready to charge. I had seen boars like this before, usually from a safe distance.
