Author : Mortals against gods

Have you ever questioned your existence? maybe we are just characters in a story or frankly just a spark between worlds of fiction. Daniel questioned himself constantly on the truth behind creation, ever since the uncanny scar had been imprinted on his life. Revenge wasn't an option, because the perpetrator behind all of it was far greater than anyone. He was the Author, and Daniel was simply a character within his story. A simple life was all he wanted, but reality had a different path for him. His world would later collide with another, bringing forth an apocalypse filled with suffering. His question had reached an abrupt end, and his morale filled with dents of revenge. He only thought of one thing, and I suppose I would serve it as a question. What if you had to go against the plot? What if you had to battle the creator of your world for peace?. There are many more to it, but I promise. This story answers it all.

Unwavering Sea

A call to greatness, an indisputable battle. Not of wits, but strength. Strength higher than all, and its mysteries near oblivion.

The masters of nature had set off against each other, and all the eyes could see, was a pending destruction—an unending disgrace which awaited their doom.

The shadows of death lurked nearby, awaiting the perfect chance to grab what is theirs back into the unknown depths of the afterlife. Knowing this, the two gods still stood proudly.

Each awaited the other's move steadily, for a mishap to cause their demise. However, their battle sense was too great, preferably concluding the order of strikes even before the battle began.

The humans had fled, thinking they were out of range. An impending disaster was set upon them, and all they could do was to run. Running like a mouse fleeing the wits of a cat, they hoped for escape.

But the forces of nature were too great to escape from. Each act was simply a futile desire for survival, and the humans on the coast of Hawaii found themselves caught within.

The tension boiled to the brim, each god stood with eyes of fury and hate for the other. Their origins were enemies from the creation of time, thus their actions followed in pursuit.

The god of the seas raised his chin proudly, for he was second to none. He wanted to rid the lurking boredom within, and a rare chance presented itself.

A new god who knew less of the strength of the old gods. Their power was ravaging and disastrous, each monstrous in absurdity. Wars were waged due to boredom, and the blood that spilled from nearby humans was seen as sacrifices for a great cause.

Son of Cronos, brother of Zeus. Father of seas and all living beings residing in them. The tamer of waters and the second strand at the beauty of life, he stood at the pinnacle of strength.

Greek gods they were, and each drew closer to immortality in strength. However, Poseidon grew faster than his siblings and rose to be the strongest. Since he had no care for leadership and politics, he delegated the seat to his brother.

Finally, a stubborn kid reared his face towards the menacing god. How rare a chance it was. Talents of power clash against each other. It sent a desire for blood through the nerves of Poseidon.

With a firm grip on his golden trident, he threw it at Loki. But the power of the wind was greater in control, slowing the momentum of the trident. Loki caught the trident in its course to strike his heart and scoffed at the futile attempt.

The wind still raged crazily, attempting to push the sea even further, but Poseidon held it at bay. With a revolving force, Loki threw the trident back at the sea god.

Poseidon laughed at the attempt but found his weapon struck into his chest. His smile turned into confusion, as he saw the trident stuck within his flesh.

"You could hold my trident? That shouldn't be….", Poseidon assumed.

To his surprise, Loki approached once more with godly speed and thrust a strong jab at the rear edge of the trident. It pushed the trident deeper, causing the sea god to cough up blood.

Cough!!!

"Blood? It's been long since I saw this. I knew it, you were worth my time.", Poseidon smiled shrewdly.

The body of the sea god fell with a slash into the curtain of water, and the thunderous crackles of the sea turned silent once more. Loki looked at the curtain of water in dismay, fueled with disgust at his enemy's weakness.

"Disappointing. How did he even live that long with those skills", Loki shrugged.

Although he was disgusted with the unsatisfying strength of Poseidon, he constantly debated for clarity. His mind was not at ease to that conclusion, and the power he felt was not one of myth.

Nevertheless, he could not change the outcome, for it was the right course. A god would protect his territory, and war was unavoidable.

Knowing this, Loki turned calmly and fixated his focus on the ropes of wind that surrounded him. In an attempt to take flight, his senses blossomed once more, and goosebumps streamed through his skin.

"Hahaha, I knew it was worth my time!!!"

Loki turned with a satisfying smile and looked at the curtain of water before him. Its crackles grew stronger than before, and the waves pouring from the edge looked chaotic.

Poseidon walked out of the curtain of water with his wounds healed and his aura tenser. He walked through the pressure of wind pushing the sea and stood right before Loki.

Their eyes met as the jaws revealed a senile smile, for words did not affect the upcoming clash. Poseidon brushed his air backward and pierced the trident through the earth. His smile sent shivers down Loki's spine, and the tense aura of battle was unsteady.

Loki had deduced that the sea could heal him endlessly, and that was a huge problem that had to be addressed. However, fright had no hold on him, since the forces of the sea had already been pushed back.

"If you are thinking of healing once more, I don't think that would work this time.", Loki smirked.

"Throw away futile attempts as such. Do you think you can stop me with that? The sea goes wherever it wills.", Poseidon affirmed.

With a crazy smile that lay evident on the manly face of the god, he opened his arms wide. The crackles of the sea rose higher, and each wave from behind was greater than the first.

The surrounding water brimmed with force, and heaped over the curtain. It was like a cup that was overflowing with water greatly, and Loki stood with a pale face as he watched the power of the sea swallowing the wind.

He didn't make a move but stood with great virtue and pride. His feet were calm on the ground, and the wind rolled once more around its master.

Nearby humans who caught the spectacle with their gadgets marveled at the power of the sea, and others who worshipped in tradition bowed down to the great god.

The curtain which stood high and silent from the mighty grapples of the wind, had finally escaped. It came down upon the new god with a reigning terror. Its crackles grew larger, and the dogs of death bared their fangs at the gods which stood in pride.

Loki smiled as he looked at Poseidon with a burning fighting spirit. His calm nerves were tense as the pressure of the sea drew forth.

"You finally stood up to your name"

Splash! Boom!!!!
