Chapter 8: Gregory Trinidad

After getting permission, Lance gentle opened. the door.

Bowing a little, he gestures to Lucius to go inside who had no choice but to simply comply.

Lucius nervously enters the room as he was about to meet the richest person in the world.

There he was, standing in front of the CEO of the whole YG Corp, Gregory Trinidad.

Gregory possesses an attractive face for his age which Lucius recalled he was about 58 years old this year.

He was emitting a serious but kind atmosphere due to his large-built and crude but pleasant face.

Just like Lucius, he also possesses sharp narrow eyes similar to that of the Chinese folks.

"Why don't you sit down?" Gregory proposed while pointing at a couch on the other side of his table.

"Ah! yes!" Lucius flusteredly said due to nervousness as he hastily sat down with tension all over his body.

"Hohohoho, no need to be so wary, I'm not gonna eat you." Gregory release a small chuckle and told Lucius to relax.

But it doesn't seem to work as Lucius just got more nervous.

"Ah! I'm sorry!"

Lucius was feeling uncomfortable at his behavior as he himself didn't know what was happening to him but he felt like a five-year-old kid who was nervous facing his father knowing he did something wrong.

Seeing that Lucius was still tense, Gregory didn't pressure him to calm down any longer as he decided to start their conversation.

"Well, Lucius right?" Gregory changed the topic and ask which Lucius answered by just nodding.

"I heard that you visited the School Inventory Shop in the UMM right?" The tone in Gregory's voice turned serious as he stare right into Lucius's eyes.

"....that's right," Lucius replied before a few seconds' pause.

He raises his guard and was ready for whatever was gonna happened even though his back was already soaking wet in sweat due to nervousness.

His fist clenched as he was ready to charge at Gregory if he ever planned to plot against him.

This didn't escape Gregory's vision as he release a small and relaxed smile.

"Don't worry, I'm not planning to mess with you, im just here to talk and give you some offer." Gregory lightly said while leaning his back on the chair.

"...what offer?" Although he was hesitant at first, Lucius couldn't help but ask partially due to curiosity.

"Straight to the point I see."

"Well, I also heard you redeemed a Gift Code is that right?"

As soon as Lucius heard what Gregory said, his eyes widen in shock as he thought that he was sneaky enough that no one noticed him and also because the employees in the store were Azaktan followers instead of the YG Corp!

"How do you know?!" Lucius coldly said as his eyes were fixed on Gregory.

"Well, you could say I have my connections." Gregory mysteriously said with a small grin on his face.

Lucius stared at Gregory with his fierce eyes as if wanting to skin him alive but after a few seconds, he gave up and release a sigh.

"Sigh...that's right." Lucius helplessly said knowing that it was his loss.

The grin on Gregory's face turned into a smile as he seems happy at Lucius' reply.

"Good good" Gregory excitedly said while clapping his hands.

After a few minutes, he stopped as his face turned into its usual expression.

"Well before we get down to the offer I'm talking about, first I want to ask how much you know about 'Rebirth" so far." Gregory asked with his usual expression.

Lucius' brows raise hearing Gregory's question.

"Well from what I read, isn't 'Rebirth' a free world game where Sword, Magic, and Monster are prominence?" Lucius earnestly answered using the basic knowledge he collected in researching while cautious enough not to spill some words that would make him suspicious.

Gregory nodded hearing Lucius blabbering some basic knowledge everyone who knows 'Rebirth' knew.

"That's right, even though everything you said was just some basic knowledge, All of it was correct."

"....but what if I tell you that 'Rebirth' would be the game that would change the world?" Gregory mysteriously whisper but was loud enough for Lucius to hear.

"Isn't that what all the news said? Did you seriously take me here just to flaunt in me?" Lucius said in a sarcastic tone but deep down he understood what Gregory was implying.

"No-no, that's not what I mean" Gregory embarrassingly waved his hand as he denied Lucius' allegations.

"What I mean is that 'Rebirth' would change the way our society works!" Gregory proudly stated.

"Oh, how then?" Lucius asked, seemingly interested but for a completely different reason.

"Well because.....the power you gain in the game would be brought back the real world!" Gregory stated in a loud voice almost yelling.

Lucius' was shocked hearing Gregory's claim as his eyes widen!

He wasn't shocked knowing that you could bring back your powers in 'Rebirth' to the real world, he had long known that.

What shocked him the most is that Gregory confessed it.

'Why is he telling me all of this?' Lucius asked in his mind.

Silence envelops the entire room as neither of the two said anything.

"hahaha, you're crazy!" Lucius said after a few minutes of silence.

Even though he knew that what Gregory was saying was true, he acted like he was surprised and dubbed Gregory as a madman.

To Lucius' reaction, Gregory wasn't surprised as he himself would react the same way.

"Sigh...I knew what I'm saying might be crazy but believe me!" Gregory still hasn't given up and tried convincing Lucius to believe him but the next thing Lucius said surprised him.

"Whatever, I'll believe you for now." Lucius waved his hand and ended the topic.

"Really?! you believed me?!" Gregory excitedly asks.

"Like hell I would! It's just I have no choice okay?!" Lucius annoyingly said while deep down praising his acting skills.

Hearing Lucius, Gregory's mood fell as his excitement extinguish.

"Ehem! Anyway, let's just head straight to your offer, shall we?" Lucius fakes a cough and said.

"Yeah let's do that!" The old man suddenly became lively once again as Lucius was starting to feel uncomfortable at his attics.

'Is all rich man are like this?' He thought as he classified all the rich men just like Gregory.

If anyone who knows Gregory saw him acting like this, they might pass out due to shock!

"Mr. Lucius, I am here today to offer you my support." Gregory's face turned serious as he raises his hand forward.

"You're recruiting me?" Lucius confusingly asked.

"No, rather we're betting on you." Gregory rebutted while shaking his head in disagreement.

"We're giving you our support which means that we're working for you, not the other way around" He continues explaining.

Lucius fell into deep thought while nibbling his fingernail.

He knew having the support of YG Corp would Bd beneficial to him since even though a lot of people would transcendent and gain power, many would still rule over the world.

He was just being hesitant because he didn't know what's the reason why the YG Corp would support him.

Lucius gazes straight at Gregory's face for a few minutes before taking his hand and shaking it.

"I don't know what your motives but if I ever find out that you're planning a ploy against me, I'll kill you myself do you understand." Lucius' voice turned cold as he stated in a threatening tone.

To his threat, Gregory just gives a small grin.

"Tsk." Lucius annoyingly stood up and went to the door.

He was confused about what was happening to him as the nervousness he was feeling when he entered the room was replaced by annoyance just like how a teenage kid rebelled against his parents.

Nonetheless, Lucius reach out for the doorknob and swiftly exited the room.

He was greeted by lance who had been waiting for him outside and guided him outside the building without saying a single word.

After exiting the building, Lucius sighed and mumbled;

"sigh....so much question that was left unanswered"

After saying that, Lucius head back to his apartment by just walking.

|In the Building/Gregory's Office|

"Sigh....he already left." Gregory stated while staring at the silhouette of Lucius disappearing in the CCTV.

Longing and guilt could be seen in his eyes as he picked up a picture frame that was displayed on his table.

In the picture, was a beautiful woman with a cheerful smile.

Tears pour from Gregory's eyes to the picture frame as he couldn't help but felt sad.

"Margaret, he had grown as an outstanding man, I just wish that you are here to see it." Gregory said under his breath with a shaky voice.

He continues weeping while hugging the picture frame in his arms.

For an unknown reason, a breeze hit a folder in Gregory's desk opening it.

If Lucius were to read the content of the folder, he might be surprised to dead.

'99.99% compatibility!'

Nonetheless, this was unknown to him as he was enjoying his time walking back to his apartment while assuming in his mind every possibility of what transpired just a few moments ago.
