Jiang Shicheng's voice successfully captured everyone's attention. Ying Mo glanced at him with suspicion.
"Does this guy really know our master?" he wondered.
"Forget it, the Lord has arrived now," Ying Mo said dismissively. "Let's see what the Lord decides."
"The other party can't escape anyway. If necessary, we can deal with him later," Ying Mo added, signaling the others to pause their actions.
Under Jiang Shicheng's hopeful gaze, Orion finally stood up.
"Uncle Jiang? My nephew?" Orion asked, his expression one of confusion. "What? Do I know you? Or do you know me?"
Orion's sideways glance and puzzled expression indicated he didn't immediately recognize Jiang Shicheng.
Meanwhile, Ying Mo, with a cold demeanor, raised her dagger again, clearly displeased with Jiang Shicheng's attempt to deceive their master.
Jiang Shicheng, sweating and embarrassed, forced a smile. "Nephew, you must be joking. How could you forget me?"
"I'm a close friend of your father, Lu Qingtian! I was even a coffin bearer at his burial..."
Orion's expression shifted as a flicker of recognition appeared. "Oh, I see now. Uncle Jiang! I remember!"
"It's been so long!" Jiang Shicheng continued, trying to act familiar. "Remember when you were still a..."
But before he could finish, Ying Mo interrupted, her dagger still poised. She gave Jiang Shicheng a stern warning look, making it clear she wouldn't hesitate to act if he stepped closer.
Jiang Shicheng, now frustrated, glared at Ying Mo. "What are you doing? Can't you see that your master and I are acquainted? I'm practically family!"
"You've already fought me, and now you dare to stop me? Believe me, I can make you regret it!"
Yet Ying Mo remained unmoved, her gaze cold and unyielding. She was determined to keep Jiang Shicheng at bay until Orion gave explicit permission.
Embarrassed and with his dignity on the line, Jiang Shicheng turned back to Orion, adopting a lecturing tone. "Nephew Lu Shi, how can you allow your subordinates to act so rudely? If it were me, I would have disciplined them severely!"
Orion's face showed a hint of amusement and a trace of ridicule. Although Jiang Shicheng was indeed a friend of his father, Orion found his attempt to lecture amusingly out of place.
Seeing that Orion showed no sign of being moved by his words, Jiang Shicheng felt increasingly awkward. He was aware that he looked foolish and felt a growing resentment towards Orion.
Despite maintaining a smiling facade, he harbored a grudge, silently vowing to get his revenge.
Finally, after a few minutes of awkward silence, Orion spoke up. "Uncle Jiang, you must have known I was coming to Beiyang City for some time, right? And you must know why I'm here?"
"If that's the case, why did you attack my men? Do you also hold prejudices against me being a traitor?"
Orion's tone carried a hint of malice, questioning Jiang Shicheng's true intentions.
Jiang Shicheng, caught off guard, blushed with embarrassment and struggled to find words. He couldn't admit he had hoped to weaken Orion's forces and then leverage that to negotiate.
"Uh, Nephew Lu Shi, you misunderstand. I had no such intentions," Jiang Shicheng stammered, trying to salvage his reputation.
Orion's cold smile widened. "Really? So, this is your way of treating an old friend?"
Orion then glanced at the two other Half-Saints. "By the way, Uncle Jiang, who are these two?"
Jiang Shicheng, relieved by the change in topic, responded with a forced cheerfulness. "Oh, these are my two friends, both masters in the Semi-Saint realm!"
"Could you ask your men to lower their weapons? We're all one family here, why must we fight?"
Jiang Shicheng's tone was cautious, hoping to defuse the situation.
Meanwhile, Ying Mo continued to point her dagger at him. Orion ignored Jiang Shicheng's plea and casually asked, "So, my father doesn't know them?"
"They are just my friends, not known to your father," Jiang Shicheng admitted.
Orion's eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "Since they're not connected to my father, then..."
"Send them away!" Orion said with a smile, showing his teeth. "They're not family, after all."
Two Half-Saints were a significant asset, and Orion was willing to part with them without much regret.
