Cold Drinks & New Year

The doctor came out of the OT, speaking to the nurse.

Beomgyu stood up, the others following his actions while Hannah layed knocked out on the seat.

"Choi Y/N's family?"

He asked, looking around.

"M-me."

He said, raising his hand a little and stumbled to the doctor.

"Who are you to her sir?"

The doctor asked, taking the notepad from the nurse.

"I'm her brother. Is she fine now?"

He asked frantically.

"The stab was a bit deep but she's out of danger. She'll wake up tomorrow or the day after. Stay strong. You can visit her now."

The doctor patted Beomgyu's shoulder with a smile before walking away.

"Excuse me, Ms.Y/N's room number is 448."

The nurse informed before walking away.

Yeonjun, Soobin, Taehyun and Beomgyu rushed to the room number while Huening kai bought a water bottle from the nearby vending machine.

He opened it while walking to where Hannah was sleeping and sprinkled it on her face.

"Wake up you lazy ass, we gotta go see Y/N."

Huening kai said before walking away.

Hannah, dumbfounded, sighed before getting up and walking behind him.

Fast forward to a few days later,

Y/N fluttered her eyes open, scanning the same environment she had been in for the past three days.

Y/N had woken up two days later like the doctor has said but with that, her stressed out side took over her and she has been sleeping often.

Too often that she doesn't remember what she had been doing before falling asleep.

"H-huening?"

She asked, sitting up and looking around.

"Huh? Y/N? You're awake! Finally, you slept for like sixteen hours ago."

Hearing that from Huening kai, four heads popped out from the bed's left, looking at Y/N.

The other four had been lying on the floor on a blanket before Huening kai yelled that Y/N was awake.

"Hyung? Taehyun?"

She asked, rubbing her eyes and opening them wide.

"Since you're awake, today's January one."

Soobin informed, giving her a sarcastic smile, showcasing his dimples.

"Oh....Wait what? How long was I knocked out for? It was christmas when I shot Haewon."

Y/N asked, looking at the calendar.

01 January 2024.

"Honey I'm home~"

Lea joked, entering the room with a chuckle.

Ara awkwardly followed behind and waved at Y/N once she saw that she was awake.

Y/N waved back and saw Bahiyyih's eyes go wide.

"Y/N!"

She squealed, fast walking to you and side hugging you, hoping she wouldn't hurt your wound.

"Flowers?"

Hannah asked, holding a bouquet of black roses.

"You do realize that black roses symbolizes death right?"

Y/N asked, her voice a little raspy.

"Oh.....be back in five."

She muttered, running out of the room with the bouquet.

"Y/N guess what!?"

Beomgyu started, running to Ara's side.

"What?"

She asked, chuckling.

"Ara is apparently a leading mafia too! Right before Hannah's place."

He said excitedly, jumping a little.

"Yayyy! More insane people!!!"

Y/N cheered with fake enthusiasm.

After catching up on what had happened in the few days of her constant drowsyness.

She realized the group had dyed their hair twice in a matter of 4 days.

Taehyun alone dyeing it thrice.

How could she have not realized.

"Y'all are killing your hair."

"That's exactly both of us are black haired right now."

Taehyun and Soobin said in relief.

Y/N looked to her left and took her phone in her hands.

Y/N smiled and looked up at the boy who mouthed a 'see it.'

It was pictures of the boy in his pink, mint and blue hair.

And two extra pictures in black hair.

Y/N then read the text that said 'You forgot didn't you?'

Yup. Sorry man, My sleep schedule is messing with my brain.

It's okay, I get it. It happened to

me when I got hospitalized for

a whole week too.

year, do I not get to count down ten

Taehyun chuckled to himself while looking at Y/N's red ears. He put his phone in his pocket before walking out of the room to pick up the americano with six extra espresso shots he had bought for Y/N.

Y/N, who saw the latter leave, thought she had ticked him off by not replying.

Everyone else hadn't noticed a single thing, being too immersed in what their doing. Yeonjun and Soobin flirting; Beomgyu and Ara talking with blushed cheeks and ears; Kai, Lea and Hiyyih bickering.

Getting more and more anxious by the second, she jerked her head up when the door clicked.

She looked at Taehyun giving her a warm smile which she couldn't help but mirror. Soon, her eyes trailed down to his hands that held a transparent coffee cup.

Taehyun walked to her and offered the drink to her but Y/N had a sad pout on her face.

"What happened? You like it right? Did I get your order wrong?"

He asked frantically, sitting next to her and looking at the order.

"No....."

She said, looking up from the cup and at the boy.

"Then what's wrong?"

He asked, looking at the girl's almost tear filled eye.

"The doctor said I can't drink coffee because it will give me a sugar rush."

She spoke, a pout evident in her voice.

"Awwwwwww, it's okay~ I'll buy you one after you're discharged. Okay?"

He cooed, hugging her while still sitting.

This action paused everything that was going on aroubd them.

Yeonjun and Soobin stopped flirting with each other.

Beomgyu and Ara stopped talking.

And Huening, Lea and Bahiyyih stopped bickering about who's the better sibling.

Y/N nodded slowly. But soon, a question struck her head.

"But who will drink this one?"

She asked, breaking away from the hug.

At this question, everyone went back to what they were doing, pretending like they didn't even know what just happened.

Taehyun looked around the room of traitors before sighing.

"I will."

He said, opening the lid of the cup before closing his eyes and gulping the whole drink with a slight grimace.

Y/N looked at the boy wide-eyed.

"You didn't have to do that..."

She muttered, having a slight smile on her face.

"There's no turning back now is there?"

He asked, opening one eye and seeing the girl giggling.

Keyword : giggling.

He slowly opened his other eye before realizing the cause of the girl's mood swing.

The meds.

Nonetheless, he still giggled with her before turning around and looking at the Huening siblings who each gave him a thumbs up sign.

The boy nodded pathetically, the bitter aftertaste haunting his tastebuds.

Soon, everyone had left the hospital room except Yeonjun who said he wanted to talk to Y/N.

"I am expecting progress."

Y/N stated eagerly, clapping her hands in tiny.

"Okay so first, we made snow angels."

Yeonjun said, sitting down beside her on the bed before giving her a glass of hot chocolate.

"Ohhhh did you guys kiss under a street light or in the rooftop while talking? That is literally the most romantic thing I've seen."

Y/N asked, sipping on the warm drink her friend has made for her.

"We did! And thennn, when we were watching movies in my room, he closed the laptop and just laid down on my chest and started played with my shirt buttons!"

Yeonjun exclaimed, sipping his drink like a child talking about his field trip.

"I am hoping he didn't unbutton it?"

She asked, eager for him to continue.

"He did-"

Before he could finish, Y/N gasped loudly, slapping the man's shoulder.

"W-wait let- let me finish!"

He yelled, chuckling a little bit.

"He unbuttoned it accidentally but then buttoned it back and slept....WHILE LYING ON MY CHEST! He was so adorable- like the way his mouth wasn't fully closed and I could see his bunny teeth and he would murmur something in his sleep- I didn't even want to sleep, I just stared at his face until I fell asleep and then- and then when I woke up, mysteriously, I was the one lying on his chest like how does that happen!?"

The boy rambled on. Y/N rested her elbow on her folded leg and rested her facr on her palm, listening to what the older had to say about his love interest.

"Okay enough about me, any progress with Taehyun?"

Yeonjun asked, covering his head and body with a cozy blanket.

"He texted me- look at this!"

She said, showing him their chat from earlier.

"Dayum! I bet he's gonna be your new year's kiss."

Yeonjun predicted, sipping his drink that had got from hot to warm.

"Nahh I don't wanna jinx things."

Eventually, Yeonjun fell asleep on the floor to Y/N's bed's left and Y/N fell asleep in the middle of her bed.

New year's eve.

Happy couples.

Happy families.

And a happy Y/N who entered Choi Yeonjun's mansion to celebrate new years.

"I got the smores!" -Ara.

"I got the drinks!" -Bahiyyih.

"I got the chips!" -Hannah.

"I got the ice cream!" -Lea.

Y/N and the rest looked at each other before looking back at the four girls.

"We got ourselves!"

They yelled, making jazz hands.

Taehyun smoothly walked to Y/N and smoothly slung his arm around her shoulder and smoothly pulled her closer while smoothly taking out his phone and smoothly clicking a selfie and smoothly winked at her before smoothly walking away.

Y/N, dumbfounded by what happened in a matter of fifteen seconds, looked around to find a place to sit in the rooftop. She found an empty spot between two people so she went and sat there. But soon realized she had seated herself in between Yeonjun and Soobin.

"Sorry."

She smiled awkwardly before standing up.

Yeonjun gave her a thumbs up before going back to his conversation.

YN looked around, every female air breather were in pretty dresses or skirts (except Lea who was in a fancy ass jumpsuit).

Y/N slowly looked down at her outfit, white tee shirt , black pants, leather jacket, leather glovelettes, and black boots.

A slow yet venomous inferiority complex started to form in the bottom of her heart.

She had found another empty seat and went to sit there only to realize Beomgyu had been sitting there with Ara and talking.

Ofcourse, she didn't want to thirdwheel and went to sit with the Huening siblings, who were bickering yet again about who had talked to their mother most recently.

Hannah, was on her phone, drinking.

Y/N sat down beside Hannah and looked around, She looked up and saw Ara walking to her with a shopping bag.

"Here, wear this."

She said, giving her the bag.

Y/N looked inside and saw a white turtle neck and a baby pink sleeve less short dress.

"Why?"

She asked, standing up.

"I saw you Y/N. You can wear dresses. We won't judge."

Ara gave her s smile and a pat on the shoulder before walking away.

Y/N took the bag and went downstairs to a random guest room to change.

She looked at herself in the mirror before undoing her bun and brushing her hair.

"Mm I guess this is fine...."

She said before walking out of the room and to the rooftop.

Once she was there, she looked over at Ara who smiled widely at her appearance.

"Y/N! You look great."

Lea complimented, holding the girl's wrist.

"Yeah, when'd you change?"

Bahiyyih asked, walking over to her.

"Oh...a few minutes ago."

She answered.

Hannah walked over to the group and noticed Y/N's change in appearance.

"Cute dress."

She said, before rummaging through her bag.

"What are you looking for?"

Y/N asked as Hannah took out a pink ribbon.

"This."

She answered before walking behind the girl.

Hannah took a small black claw clip and put the ribbon through two tooth before tying it into a butterfly knot. She took some of Y/N's hair and did a half up-half down with the claw clip.

"Done."

Hannah said before patting her shoulder twice.

"Thanks. Why do you have a pink ribbon in your bag?"

Y/N asked.

"Me and Ara sunbae planned it."

Hannah informed the girl before taking a sip from her soda.

"I'll be over there."

Y/N informed the group before walking to the edge of the rooftop and leaning against the railing.

The cold night breeze hit Y/N's face as she looked around the area, spotting another mansion far from where they were.

"All alone?"

A voice asked, leaning backwards on the railing and resting an elbow on it while one arm was behind his back, as if they were hiding something.

"Yup. I'm guessing you got ditched too Taehyun."

She replied, glancing at the boy.

"Iced americano?"

He asked, pulling out a transparent cup from behind him.

"Oh you remembered."

She smiled sweetly, taking it from his grip and taking a small sip.

"Caramel macchiato?"

She asked, turning around and leaning backwards on the railing like him.

"Oh?"

He asked, a little amused that she had one with her. And a little happy that she cared for him.

"Oh no I don't have it here."

She quickly said, and Taehyun could feel the lights drain out of his face.

The girl straightened her back and walked away, leaving the boy all to himself.

Before she returned with a caramel macchiato ofcourse.

She smiled and gave it to the boy who felt like the switches had been flicked on again.

"Thanks."

He said before taking a sip out of it.

The duo turned around and looked at the sky, snow slowly fell down and decorated the place.

"It's cold..."

Taehyun muttered, hoping to get some kind of reaction from the girl.

But no, Y/N checked the time on her phone, oblivious to what the boy had muttered.

11.59pm

"Let's do the countdown!"

Yeonjun annouced, standing up.

Everyone except Y/N and Taehyun counted down the numbers.

"Ten!"

"Nine!"

"Eight!"

"Seven!"

"Six!"

"Five!"

"Four!"

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!"

And so, the first firework launched into the sky with a hiss, ascending gracefully before erupting into a brilliant burst of light. Its dazzling red colour unfolded like a blooming flower, casting a mesmerizing glow across the dark canvas of the night. The initial explosion marked the beginning of the spectacle, capturing the attention and anticipation of the friend group to follow.

Y/N looked around. And ofcourse, she regretted it.

Yeonjun and Soobin were kissing, much to keeping it a secret.

Beomgyu and Ara had leaned it, hearing gasps from Hiyyih and Lea.

Hiyyih and Lea looked around

Huening kai put on headphones and started to dance, giving Taehyun a 👌 sign before closing his eyes and wiggling around.

Taehyun grabbed Y/N by the waist and pulled her closer, his hands gently resting on her waist.

Staring into those dark yet soulful eyes, Taehyun smiled at how they had gotten life in it, unlike the dull and soulless ones he had seen months earlier.

His stare trailed down to those very lips that probably taste like cold, bitter, coffee.

Those very lips that compliments him every morning when he sits next to her.

Those very lips that apologize everytime her right hand and his left hand crash into each other.

Y/N stared back at Taehyun.

His eyes that held so much lifes.

His eyes that sparkled under the fireworks.

His eyes that glint in excitement everytime she talks to him.

The girl couldn't help but glance back and forth frantically between his eyes and lips.

Without a word, he leaned in, and their lips met in a sweet, lingering kiss-a silent exchange of feelings that spoke louder than any words could convey.

The girl's hands rested on his shoulders, not knowing where else to place it.

'Caus if you haven't noticed, it's both their first kisses.

Time seemed to stand still as their connection deepened, a sweet warmth enveloping them. Y/N's heartbeat echoed in the silence, synchronized with the unspoken emotions shared in that stolen moment. When they finally parted, Taehyun whispered, "Found your new year's kiss?" and Y/N hid her face in her palms, flustered by what the boy had just done.

"My pure sister! Kang Taehyun!!"

Beomgyu yelled, walking up to them.

Ara smiled and gave Y/N a thumbs up before following Beomgyu.

Beomgyu put his left palm on Taehyun's chest and right one on Y/N's shoulder and gently parted them.

"Psst. Who recorded it?"

Huening kai asked, leaning downwards to Lea and Hiyyih.

Both the sisters showed the clip of the two kissing individually in each of their phones.

Before Beomgyu could interrogate more, Hannah yelled from her place.

"Chips anyone!?"

She asked, showcasing ten packs of chips.

"Me!"

Beomgyu diverted his attention, running to take one.

"Psst."

Taehyun whispered to Y/N.

"Yeah?"

She asked, turning around to face the boy.

"You tasted like coffee."

He whispered, smiling like an idiot.

"And you tasted like caramel."

The girl deadpanned, rolling her eyes playfully.

Taehyun grinned before placing a small peck on her cheek and walking away.

Once again, Y/N slowly reached to her cheek where the boy had just pecked.

"Did he just kiss you on the cheek? Again?"

Hannah asked, munching on a chip.

"Yup."

She muttered.

The only thing missing was sweet raven, but she's parked in the luxury garage of Yeonjun's mansion.

An hour later, everyone were fast asleep in the Choi mansion. Except four classmates in two different rooms.

Yeonjun and Soobin shared Yeonjun's room.

Huening and Taehyun shared a room.

Beomgyu shared the room with two beds with Ara.

Hiyyih and Lea shared a room.

Y/N and Hannah shared a room.

"So he kissed you."

Hannah said, sipping hot chocolate.

"Yup."

Y/N muttered, popping the 'p' sound.

"Was it your first kiss?"

"Yup."

"Are you falling in love with him?"

"I think it's a bit too early to discuss that, plus he might've done that just because he didn't have a new years kiss."

"Oh my god Y/N! Are you stupid? He literally looks at you with heart eyes!"

"You're just saying that."

"Because it's true!"

"So you kissed her. Finally."

Huening kai let out a sigh of relief before plopping down on the bed after a shower.

"Yup."

"Are you falling in love with her?"

"I think we both the know the answer to that."

"Oh yeah you've liked her since when we were like freshmen and Beomgyu hyung introduced her to us as his annoying little sister who's kinda rude even though she was such a sweetheart in your eyes and even though she flipped me over for a bracelet that she burned like a month ago."

Huening kai ranted, drying his hair with a towel.

"You actually listened to my rants."

"I'm your best friend dude, obviously I'll listen to you rant about yOur giRl even though yOuR gIrL is my best friend."

Huening said, throwing the towel to Taehyun's face.

"I never said she was my girl. I didn't even tell her I like her.....Oh my god what if she thinks I just used her as my new year's kiss!? Was it a bad move to kiss her without notice. I honestly thought she liked me back. Huening what do I do!?"

The former panicked, getting up and grabbing the latter's collar and shaking it back and forth as the latter had a done look on his face.

"Relax dude, she likes you alright? Just.....observe how she acts around you for a few days before asking the question."

"Okay...."
