My life is a game. Not just any game, it's dungeons and dragons. Or that's what this blue screen seems to appear to me.
Dungeons and Dragons or d&d for short is a tabletop role-playing game that use dices to determine the success of the player's action.
Basically, it's a storytelling game, told by one person (the DM), while the rest of the players react to the story. And sometimes the players could even take initiative to some action in the said story.
The screen shows me a d&d stats format. While I had played some, I'm not an expert on it.
'I only ever played custom-made PC (Player Character) though, I had never created my own.'
But seriously WHAT THE FUCK IS A VOID ELF. There is no such race in d&d. There are so many questions unanswered.
While my status has some reminiscence of the d&d, I can't assume that it is the same. It's my life here, it's not just a game anymore.
As I got lost in my thoughts, I forgot that I am outside. Currently, I am in the park under the supervision of the caretaker, Miyomi. But from the look of it, no one realizes the blue screen in front of me.
Let test it out when I'm alone.
"Yuu-chan, why don't you go play with other children?", asked Miyomi seemly appear from behind me.
'Jesus when did she get behind me. Spook the hell out of me.'
"Uhhhh, ok?", I ran toward the playground as I replied.
The park was pretty big and It locates nearby the orphanage. All the pre-kindergartens kids come to play here mostly because of the playground in the park.
From what I saw it is a public park but because the orphanage was nearby. So most orphan kids play here. The caretakers change once every 3 hours in rotation.
From when I walked from the orphanage to the park, I saw many houses but no skyscrapers. No big apartment buildings either. Am I living in a semi-modern era?
I was trying to estimate what time period I currently live in right now. It looks urban but without any huge building.
Some houses were made of concrete, while some were wooden Japanese style house. Am I in the countryside?
Everything else looks like a modern society except for the flying ship I saw. There are even some cars running on the road. Or what looks like a car to me.
It had 4 wheels and it's a single-seat vehicle with only one door to the left it.
And I'm pretty sure these cars didn't run on fossil fuel. There is no exhaust pipe, so it must magic of some kind.
So magic-engineering is a thing, huh.
My life just got more complicated.
"Hey dude, do you want to play together?" The voice yelled from behind me.
I turn around and saw a bunch of brats, looking my way.
"Uhh, me?", I replied in confusion. My social skills definitely regressed.
"Yea, come join us. We were playing hide and go seek. Oh by the way my name is Taku."
The boy named Taku has purple hair and an ordinary face around my age. He seems to be the leader of the group.
"Oh, my name is Yuuji." 'Seriously he has purple hair, is this world still screwing with me?'
"Oh, on the right of me is Anna, and this is Kikyo. The big guy behind me is Junpei, while that guy by the tree is Shun" Taku pointed to the two other kids besides him.
Huh, I guess western naming sense is still around. Maybe she's a foreigner. But the rate of English-sounding names is really low in this country.
Anna is a young girl with white silver like mine with bright sapphire blue eyes to contrast her hair. She's looking very nervous, maybe she has a fear of meeting new people.
Kikyo is a young boy with black hair and eyes like typical Asian from my previous life.
Junpei is a guy who is very big for a child. Maybe he has giants blood running through him. Anyway, he has black hair that highlights with a blonde.
Shun is a quiet guy by the tree. He has blueish silver hair and a baby face that make him look younger than he was. He has red eyes is reminiscent of a certain chunibyo character.
"Ok, since you're new. You can start by hiding, while I count to 30. After I finished counting I will start to go find the rest of the group.", explained Taku.
"Ok, got it.", I replied.
"I'm gonna start now, ready... START." Taku starts counting.
I watched as other kids scatter into the nearby forests in the park. I guess I should go hide too.
I started to stalk into the forest looking for a hiding spot.
Let start by watching my steps and looking for a shady spot. I walked carefully and without disturbing my surrounding.
I then found one spot in a particular shade making the area appear darker than others.
I guess that's my hiding spot. I started to climb the tree carefully trying not to fall.
[ Athletics check: Fail ]
[ Athletics skill have been created ]
The blue screen flash in front of me. Shit... Are you fucking kidding me?
I slip from the lack of grip and fall from the tree on my ass. It's a good thing that I didn't climb too high.
*thud
- 2 HP
[ +1 Athletics proficiency point ]
*sign
I resolved myself to try to climb up the tree again.
[ Athletics check: Success ]
[ +3 Athletics proficiency points ]
This time I succeeded. Good thing my grip was steady, or I would fall again. I don't think I can climb again after that.
My arms are sore now. Great, just great.
I hid in the shade of the leaves on top of one of the branches that are thick enough to support my weight.
"READY OR NOT HERE I COME.", yelled Taku.
I remembered from one of the books I had read before I died that regulating breathing make ones blend into the surrounding. That book also includes some basic tips on stealth.
I close my eyes and start to regulates my breathing, calming myself and proceed to blend in. It's a good thing I'm in a shady spot.
[ Stealth skill have been created ]
Uhh. Isn't too easy to create a skill?
Breath in, breath out, in, out. In, out. Repeat.
After a while, I open my eyes and focus. From the branch I'm on, I could see the surrounding area.
I saw Anna hidden behind the tree, 15 feet away from me. I saw Junpei that big fellow probing behind the bush 20 feet away.
I didn't saw anyone else other than those two, I did saw Taku bright purple hair in a corner of my vision. He was pretty far from here though. So I might as well chill here.
30 minutes later and they still couldn't find me. Taku got everyone else though.
This going to take forever. So I slowly climb down from my hiding spot as to not alert anyone.
Once I reach the ground, I regulated my breathing again. I follow Taku from the shadow. Even the other four didn't see me.
[ Stealth check: Succeed ]
[ +8 Stealth proficiency points ]
I guess hiding from 4 children is worth that much. I followed them around for a while.
"Ugh, I give up. Yuuji, where are you?", screamed frustrated Taku.
"Oh, I'm right here. Just behind you guys.", I replied from behind him.
[ You got 100 General EXP for completing the activities ]
Huh, why did get some experience point?
They jump up with a startled look on their face, they quickly turn around to see me calmly walking toward them.
"When did you get here?", exclaimed Taku.
"Ah, I had been following you guys for the past 5 minutes." 'That's a lie, I've been following them for 20 minutes.
"How was it? Pretty good for a first try right?"
"Yea, yea beginner's luck.", rebuked Junpei.
"Alright then, Jun you're it since you got caught first.", said Taku.
"Sure, I'll start when you guys are ready.", affirmed Junpei.
"Ah, Yeah.", Anna
"Okay.", Kikyo
"Got it.", Shun
When Junpei got the confirmation, he started to count right away. So the group scatter again.
Man, I'm got pretty good at being stealthy real fast. Maybe it's because I'm a half-elf.
" linebreak "
Round 2
[ Stealth check: Fail ]
[ +2 Stealth proficiency points ]
[ You got 75 General EXP for completing the activities ]
I got caught second last this round. Ah, why did I failed my check? Why the experience I got lower than before?
Round 3
[ Stealth check: Fail ]
[ +2 Stealth proficiency points ]
[ You got 75 General EXP for completing the activities ]
Same as the previous round, is it really just beginner luck?
Round 4
[ Stealth check: Fail ]
[ +3 Stealth proficiency points ]
[ You got 100 General EXP for completing the activities ]
I was the last one to get caught. It seems like I got more experience than the last two rounds.
Round 5
[ Stealth check: Fail ]
[ +1 Stealth proficiency points ]
[ You got 50 General EXP for completing the activities ]
Fuck. What the hell? I was on four depressingly, 'why did I keep on failing my check.'
Ah, this shitty game.
I got cocky, now look at these brats faces. Ahhh they look so smug, even Anna who was very shy before got a smug look on her face.
Ahhhhh, this is so embarrassing. Well, the experience was worth it though.
"Yuu-chan, it's time to go back.", yelled Miyomi as she rounds up the orphan kids in the playground.
Ah, it's time to go back. "Guys, I got to go now. I hope to see you guys again next time I come here." I told my newly acquainted friends.
What, being friends with kids of the same age is not wrong even if my mental age is that of an adult.
It's called blending it and adapting to my situation.
"Yosh, Yuuji-kun. I hope to see you again soon."
"Whatever, just come say hi next time."
"Uh Ummm, it was nice meeting you Yuuji-san."
"Let's play again next man."
"Hnn, until next time."
They replied at the same time. Man, they sure are nice kids.
I turn and I quickly ran back to Miyomi but not before waving a hand back saying goodbye to my new friends.
The walk back was uneventful, I walked along with other orphans with Miyomi in the lead. By the time we were back, it's already afternoon.
It's apparently nap time for the younger children. Which also included me.
*sign 'Being a kid is hard and humiliating sometimes.'
Well, I'll just use the time to investigate my golden finger then. I'm pretty sure nobody has it except for me.

Chemistry: 177/500 ]
Ah, it makes more sense now. At least all the study I did previously was not wasted. Man me being a mechanical engineer must have been a shock, huh.
From the look of it, I think I could learn how to combine magic and engineering. Just look at the possibility, giant magic mecha. Before I realize it, I was drooling at the thought of owning a giant mech. It's a man romance, riding a giant robot to fight that is.
Bring a revolution to this world, sounds like a great dream to have. Now I just to figure out, this world's technological level before proceeding.
Now let's check 'Skills?'
[ Skills:
[ Physical ]
| Athletic: 4/500
| Stealth: 16/500
[ Intellectual ]
| Mechanical Engineering: 347/500
| Programing: 123/500

| Chemistry: 177/500
Unspent Proficiency points: 25:25 ]
Everything seems to be in order but what the number represents. I casually tap the Athletic section in [ Physical ]. Ah, I got another pop-up.
[ Athletic: 4 / 500
At 25 proficiency points:
[ Stamina Management ]
15% stamina reduction involving these actions: Running, Jumping, Climbing and Swimming.
At 50 proficiency points:
[ Strength Bonus ]
+1 Strength attribute score.
At 100 proficiency points: ??? ]
Okay, this is good. More stats are better than having no stats, I guessed. But why stop at 100 proficiency points. I guessed I'll find out later.
Think of the bonus unspent attribute, I know I got 2 from the racial bonus but where did the other 5 points come from. I pull up my status window and tap the unspent attributes.
[ Attributes points: 7 = 2 (racial bonus) + 5 (age) ]
Well well. 5 points from my birthday, I guessed.
But do I get 1 attribute point every year? Cause Half-Elves' life expectancy was more than 180 years. That means I could get 180 attribute points just by living, that would be broken.
Also in the d&d perspective, 10 is average adult stats, and 20 is the peak mortals limit. But in this case, I could go over 20 in attribute score with my unspent points.
I'll check the age section.
[ Age: 5 years old
From 1 to 10 years old: +1 unspent attribute points every year.
From 11 to 20 years old: +1 unspent attribute points every even year. ]
So I got a maximum of 15 free attribute points to use however I want. My race would make me specialize in space magic. Agh, how many caster class there are in d&d again?
There is a [ Sorcerer ], who gets magic from the magical parents which usually a dragon. Used Cha score to cast spells. I don't know how to awaken the bloodline.
[ Warlock ], who made deals with otherworldly patrons to get magic. Used Cha score to cast spells. I don't really want to makes deal with an otherworldly being of great power in case I got fuck over by the said deal.
[ Bard ], who used music and magic in tantrum together. Used Cha score to cast spells. Dude being fucking bards suck ass yo.
[ Cleric ], the gods' men or women. They pray to their gods to borrow the gods' divine powers in form of spells. Are gods even real here? Used Wis score to cast spells. Same reasons as Warlock.
[ Druid ], the hippies of d&d but more dangerous. Basically got their magic power from nature or nature deity. Used Wis score to cast spells. Huh, I actually got no opinion on this class.
[ Wizard ], the nerds of d&d. Wizard is the greatest utility caster. They studied spells and magic to the extreme extent to harness its power. I dunno which era am I living in, so I don't know the extent of their magic power. They used Int score to cast spells. The only thing I can think of was, 'Yay more studying." In the dullest tone possible.
And with my attribute, the most suitable class would be Wizard. Well, I can't choose my profession yet. Welp, I'll just level up [ Reincarnator ] first and then think of a way to get a class.
[ Level up
Reincarnator lv. 2 [ 0/200 ]
HP calculation: 1d6 + Constitution modified( if the mod is lower than 0 applied 0 instead.): +1 HP
Proficiency points calculation: 10 + [(Wisdom modifier + Intelligent modifier)/2]: 12 points.

Hahahaha, who would have thought that dying and reincarnated would grant me a doujutsu.
*Yawn
I'm getting sleepy, I mean playing outside today did drain me more than usual. I guess I'll take a nap.
