For two seconds, a chilly silence spread all over the warehouse, followed by a painful and heartbroken scream.
"AHHH!!!" Lu Ling shouted; he rushed inside the warehouse with a bleeding heart and rubbed his eyes three times. He looked left and then looked right; however, no matter how many times he looked around, the boxes filled with weapons did not appear.
Lu Ling didn't want to believe that he had been robbed! Thus, he continued to look around the warehouse, hoping that the boxes were hidden somewhere close but when he didn't—
He turned around and faced the guards before asking in an exaggerated manner, "BOXES!?" He screeched. "Where are the boxes? The hundred and thousand boxes? Where did they go?!"
The guards were also surprised. They did not see anyone last night, so how come the warehouse was robbed?
Seeing the dumbfounded expression on the faces of the guards, Lu Ling knew that there was no point in talking with them. He suppressed his anger and ordered, "Go and check the surveillance recording! Why are you looking at my face like idiots?"
"Yes!"
The guards rushed to the security shack while Lu Ling turned to look at Mister Clynton with a greasy smile. "I am sorry for the trouble, Mister Clynton—but don't worry. I will definitely supply you with the weapons that you have paid for."
Mister Clynton was also an old fox. He smiled at Lu Ling but didn't say any harsh words. Instead, he said to him, "There is no need to say sorry. We had so many dealings, Mister Lu; of course I will give you the time to locate the lost goods."
Though Mister Clynton said all kinds of flowery words, he did not speak a single word about paying for the goods.
Lu Ling also understood his intentions, and even though his heart was filled with anger, Lu Ling still continued to smile at Mister Clynton.
"Thank you for your understanding, Mister Clynton" Lu Ling lowered his head and thanked the man even though he would have loved to choke the life out of him.
Mister Clynton hummed before taking his leave.
Once the man left, Lu Ling straightened his spine and spat on the ground. "Bah, that bastard! I have given him so much face in the past; now he thinks that he can stampede on top of my head."
Though Lu Ling was furious, he knew that now wasn't the time to waste. He rushed to the security shack and pushed open the door; upon entering, he questioned immediately, "Who was it? Who was the one who stole my goods?"
There were so many surveillance cameras, of course one of them must have caught something!
"Mister Lu…. the cameras did not capture anything."
"What did you say?" Lu Ling felt his head buzz.
"The cameras didn't catch anything," the guard bit the bullet and repeated.
Lu Ling almost fainted when he heard the response of the guard. What did he mean by that there was nothing?
"Get lost," He pushed the guard aside and then rushed to the front, where he tapped on several buttons to rewind and forward the recording. But it was just as the guard said, there was nothing!
"How... how could it be possible?"
Lu Ling's eyes were filled with horror. Those were two hundred million yuan goods. His entire fortune!
His eyes rolled back in his head as the impact of his situation finally settled within his heart and mind.
**
Two days passed by in a blink of an eye.
Lu Ling, however, was yet to recover from the loss that he had suffered. He lay in the bed of the hospital with his eyes staring at the ceiling of the room.
He looked as if he were dead.
Bai Meiyue, who came to the hospital to see—show concern to Lu Ling—was quite amused when she saw him lying on the bed acting like the world was coming to an end.
She was filled with glee at the sight of Lu Ling's desperation. However, on the surface, she still showed the correct amount of worry and concern as she stepped further inside the ward.
Gu Zejun, who was sitting in the ward next to her husband's bed, raised her head and was quite surprised when she saw Bai Meiyue. As she was the last person, Gu Zejun expected to see.
"Miss Bai," Gu Zejun greeted Bai Meiyue with a polite look.
Even Lu Ling, who was lying on the bed without moving, turned his head and looked at Bai Meiyue with a frown.
'What is she doing here?' He thought but soon turned smug because he misunderstood Bai Meiyue's intentions. He thought that she was here to apologise to him.
"Madam Gu," Bai Meiyue greeted back. She then turned to look at Lu Ling, who was staring at her smugly and her lips twitched. She placed the bouquet that she had brought with her on the table before turning to look at Lu Ling. "How are you doing, CEO Lu?"
Lu Ling glanced at Bai Meiyue, with his eyes flickering. He thought of how he had lost more than a hundred million yuan and recalled how Mister Clynton had once shown interest in Bai Meiyue. However, back then Bai Meiyue was just a teenager and couldn't be sent to serve Mister Clynton.
But now—
Lu Ling's thoughts were clearly visible on his face, and Bai Meiyue curled her lips in disgust. She knew that this man was going to target her but that was only going to work in her favour.
"Meiyue, I am glad that you are here. Don't worry, I am doing alright," Lu Ling responded with a smile that was neither haughty nor servile. "By the way, how are you? After leaving the company, you must be having a hard time, right? Do you want me to offer you a job?"
Bai Meiyue spat in her heart. Haha, this man—even though both of his feet were dangling in a coffin, he was still struggling with all his might.
Though Bai Meiyue was filled with disdain towards Lu Ling, she still pretended to be filled with surprise as she took out a pill that she had exchanged in the morning.
"Ah, a job? Are you serious, CEO Lu? You are so kind!"
