Making Friends

Kai woke up the next morning and took a shower as usual. He went to continue with his research and upgraded the wolf to a successful attempt at creating something called a battle pet.

"June. Lets go out today so I can see how you do against a fierce opponent." The wolf followed behind him. The wolf, just like the two nannies can not take instructions from their master and execute them accordingly.

Recently Wang Chen is turning one of the mountains into some sort of residential area but the internet is not sure about his motives because they think the Wang Chen is looking to start a boarding school while others think it is a start of a security company with live in employees.

Kai didn't ask anything from Wang Chen and continued to do his own research. He thinks everyone has secrets. He also has secrets that he wouldn't like people prying into.

He rode the wolf as they ran in full speed towards the mountains. Kai smiles feeling the air against his skin. He had made account for when he rides the wolf, there are two handles that he can hold on to. He had to think about this since the wolf can fly.

A few minutes later the wolf took to the sky. It's metallic wings spread in the air with a mysterious look as if a normal silver wolf has grown wings. The artificial skin and fur also covers the retractable wings making nothing seem out of place.

The air in the sky is different from down below, it is sharper and colder but the view is better. Kai looked at the vast green land below and put on a small microphone on his top so that he can still send instructions to the wolf.

"Scan for a powerful enough enemy below. The wolf did as told. They found a mountain lion. Kai is happy he will get to see his would fight a beast.

The other animal is two times its size. Kai is squatting on a tree a distance away watching the two animals or rather one animal and a robot animal cycle each other.

The wolf doesn't wait time when he sees an opening and goes for the attack. It turned out the wolf is too fast for the real animals to dodge so they die in the first attack.

Kai is not disappointed but is delighted to know that he is safe with the wolf now that it is able to use the downloaded simulations to fight against different targets.

He flew back to the main road and then rode it as it whooshed passed in high speed to return him home. His phone rings while he is on the road. It is Paige calling.

They had met a while back and this is the first time she calls him. When answers but he can instantly tell by the sound of her voice that something is wrong.

"Kai, can you get me that detoxifying pill? It's my dad I think my step mom poisoned her." She sounds like she is crying.

"Send me your location." Kai sighs thanking this may get him in trouble if he is not careful.

It turns out she is in the hospital and since it its night, Kai uses the wolf to fly into the ward from the window while the bodyguards are stranding outside the door.

"Kai.."

"Shh." He signals for her to keep silent. "If anyone sees me here I will leave, do you here?" He asks sharply and checks the man's pulse.

"He is not poisoned. His heartbeat is too high he just needs to reduce the physical work and rest for a while." He tells her.

"No, I know she did something to him. He was fine when I came back from school. Then I come back to hear he is hospitalized?"

Kai looked at the man and noticed a few details. He smiles at the girl. "He's fine. You are overeating."

"You think so?" She looked at the relaxed look on Kai's face and is starting to believe him.

"He is fine. Besides, he is th3 one who chose to marry the woman. If he dies because of her, it is on him. You need to take care of yourself you have cramps, bad ones too, yet you still have the energy to stand up and cry wolf." Kai moves to the window preparing to jump.

"Hey what are you doing? Now that I think about it I am on 12 floor how did you get up here?"

"I'll be leaving now."

"Hey can I thank you for comin over with lunch as soon as my dad is discharged?"

"Sure. See you."

He left through the window but at least she got a date out of him.

When Kai got home he found an email from the same hacker who sold him simulations. This time he is asking if Kai has a better version of the Payne battery. When Kai saw this question he knew he has been hacked.

Knowing he has nothing to worry about since there are no cameras in his bedroom or the workshop in the basement so his secrets are safe and the only thing he would worry about is his terrible singing. 

"I can consider selling one that is functional for 5years but are you prepared to pay the price?" Kai typed.

"I thought we are friends." The guy had the audacity to say after hacking him.

"We are the best of friends but I need to be paid for my hard work or I'll starve." Kai typed nonsense.

"My apologies I didn't think. So, what's the price?" 

"I need a large supply of cleaning robots." 

"Ambitious. I can do it. I will contact you when I have them. As much as I can get right?" 

"Yes, If you Impress me I may give you more powerful Payne batteries." He typed. The other party didn't say anything else. 

From that day on, Kai started making the chips in large batches. Kai thinks he will sell these robots to the military if he ever ran out of money or his family goes bankrupt.

This is like a retirement plan, as for the place to store his would be army? He will put them inside his mysterious space and they will not rust if he decided to never sell them but they will be readily available if he is ever in danger. 

Kai is not delusional to think himself invincible with robots, he started thinking of possible weaknesses they may have like their sensitivity to a signal Jammer that will prevent them from being part of a network thereby preventing the robots from receiving orders. 

He solved this problem by preprograming them with different possible actions in different situation. Although the communication will be cut and the two parties may no longer pass instructions but the main task will be accomplished.

To ensure that his conjectures are true, he put together a signal jammer and tested it on the three robots. Kai has been busy that he was called out of the basement by the electronic butler informing him of a text from the Jane. It appears it has been over two weeks. 

She sends texts and Kai is only ever able to respond to her messages after he takes a shower to go to sleep. He has been very busy. 

"What do you do all day long Kai?" Paige's lively voice came from the speaker. 

"Its nothing special. Are you outside?" Kai changed the subject. 

"I'm almost there should I bring you flowers?" Paige asked teasingly only to hear Kai chuckle. 

"I Like daisies, white ones." Kai dropped the call.

"Are you challenging me Wang?

"Can this be considered a challenge too?" Kai chuckled. 

"If I do it? What will you get for me?" She teased.

"Let me guess, you a beauty pill?" 

"Actually I want a detoxifying pill. The one you gave me that time in the bar." 

"I will give you that one." Kai relented.

"How come?" 

"Because it will not alter your appearance and then bring attention to be and what I can do."

"So, that's what this is about? You want to be low key?" 

Kai is about to answer when he heard the noise from a outside his place. "You're here?" 

"Yep." Paige said. 

"Wait a minute." Kai put on his shoes and came out. A black Koenigsegg cc 850 parked with a running engine and a beauty with bright eyes and long black hair stood outside wearing a short brown dress and a pair of long sexy boots leaving a small gap to see her white legs. 

"wow, you look like a seductress. I thought this isn't a date?" Kai kept looking at the long legs swallowing. 

"I never said that." Paige looked amused at Kai's distracted expression. 

"You said Kai don't over think this, I just want to take you out and thank you for coming to see me in my moment of distress." He told her the exact words she had used when he hesitated to come out with her.

"It's not a date. I am just having a meal with a friend. We are friends right?" The girl blinked cutely making Kai want to hug and comfort her. 

"No, You're too sexy to friends with any guy." Kai blurted out. Then there is a long silence filled with tension. 

"What do you mean?" She widened her eyes. 

"Paige, even if I had thoughts of being your friend before they are gone now. Any guy who sees you in this outfit will not just want to be friends with you. If someone does they are lying to you." Kai explained softly.

"Are you confessing to me?" She asked.

"No, I don't know you enough to like you that much."

"Then what are you saying?" 

"Do you normally go out wearing like this?" That dress is really short. He is a guy even though he s very young he is a guy and this dress is putting pictures in his head.

"You don't like it?" 

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Kai suddenly asked.

"No." 

"Do you want one?" He asked with a pair of helpless eyes.

"I don't know." She bit her lip.

"No guy will want to have you as a long term girlfriend if you wear like that." He entered the car and Paige frowned. 

"But guys seem to like this style." She protested.

"I also like seeing it but not on my girlfriend. This dress puts ideas in the head of men." 

"Ideas?" 

"Of how you might look like naked, and the more they thing this way, the less serious they will take you. If you catch someone's attention one day, you don't want it to be because they are eager to see your body." 

"Ow I get it. But I like wearing like this, it makes be feel confident."

"That is okay then. Self happiness it the most important." Kai smiled.

"After you spoke for so long that is all you will say to my come back?" She is surprised he backed down so easily. People who advised her in the past would have tried to convince her with more words.

"I was worried you are one of those girls who wear like this just to get some guy's attention. If it's for yourself then I have misspoke." Kai looked at her with a smile.

She became stunned, do other people think the same? That she dresses like this just for some guy's attention? 

"I heard the prions in the lake restaurant are a treat, are we going there?" Kai seems excited.

"We are going to the Gaz night club." 

Kai widened his eyes. "I don't want to go there." He whined making Paige laugh. The pleasant sound made Kai forget about his dissatisfaction. 

"What youth doesn't want to go clubbing?" Paige sounded exasperated.

"I dislike the noise and the smells." Kai said sheepishly.

 The car arrived and they entered without any problems. She took him into a VIP box with some familiar and unfamiliar faces. Paige spent time on the dance floor with Kai showing him what to do. 

Kai indulged her and danced with her. He felt hostile gazes directed at him but he ignored them. Paige went to the table where her friends where waiting. Kai is thinking about leaving the dance floor when two people approached him. 

"You're cute, come dance with us." The couple didn't wait for his reply and sandwiched him. HE rather enjoyed the ordeal until someone yanked him away from the dance floor and tried to punch him on the face. 

Kai rolled on the ground and stood a distance away from the group. He doesn't know what he did wrong. 

"Who do you think you're dancing with boss Zhengyi's girl, you have guts of steel." Some one said and then Kai is surrounded by a group of thugs. Luckily for him, they are not carrying any weapons. 

"Oh? But I quite like the feel of that girl in my arms...." Kai smiled but his heart is thumping in his chest. He doesn't have any experience fighting real people, he has only practiced a few moves in his gym. 

The men attacked with a flood of punches but Kai can somehow see their attacks coming at him as if they are very slow. He dodged, parried and retaliated. The lights in the club are deem and flashing so it is not clear to the people what happened. 

The guests saw the people surrounding a good looking fresh meat and then all of them are on the floor in pain some are even passed out. Kai moved from his position and the crowd parted to let him through. He saw Paige in some guy's hold. He can't hear what the guy is saying but he can see that he is pulling on her and she is struggling to get out of his hold.

"Kai are you okay? If a hair is out of place, his family will cripple you." She turned to look at the man hatefully making him smile condescendingly.

"I have the Wen family as my in laws, do you think I am afraid of the Wang family?" Kai heard the man. His body is still running high on adrenaline so he touched the guy's wrist making it lose the grip on Paige. 

"You survived?" The guy asked in surprise but soon his expression became ugly when he saw his underlings sprawled on the ground with no energy to move. 

Kai took Paige from the club and they drove away. She didn't say anything and he also didn't ask for any explanation. Kai had used a pressure point to make that guy release her from his hold. She saw it and is probably wondering about Kai's extensive medical knowledge.

A week later, the long awaited message from the hacker came. The hacker sent a location of an old abandoned warehouse down town. Kai went to retrieve the boxes of 400 cleaning robots. He didn't take it all in his space the first chance he got but he first used the signal jammer to get rid of any recording devices that may be sending out video footage of his actions.

He knows that someone like that hacker is a curious person and may want to study him. So when he is sure nothing is recording his actions, he took all the boxes into his space and then left behind the 10 years Payne battery as payment before leaving the place.
