Dinner

After going out that day. Wang Chen has been very buys with the matters of business but there was finally feedback from the lab about the beauty pill that he got from Kai.

He wanted to know how to manufacture it and what ingredients are required to make it. He went to the lab accompanied by his father and the news they got made them very upset. 

The team could find all the ingredients and they can't take the credit for that because it was done by the machines in the lab. However, the team has thoroughly failed to find the right combination of these ingredients that will produce that same pill.

Most of them are even doubting if this pill works. This place is one of the pill factories under the Wang family. As the second most richest family in the country, they also have pharmaceutical companies as well and if they manage to make this pill, they will be at the very top of beauty production industry.

The Wen family is the leading family when it comes to wealth in the city and in the country. That is why Wang Chen as the true son of the Wang family was betrothed to the first daughter of the Wen family Wen Fang. However, Wen Fang does not like this fiancé of hers because he was practically raised by commoners. 

As the country's princess and the most desirable female partner that all the bachelors are lining up to propose marriage to, she has a high opinion of herself. When she found out about the engagement she made a scene and the media was there to capture the drama. 

The man in question did not even glance her way or try to coax her at the banquet where their engagement was announced. They have a scheduled dinner once each month to get along but they don't seem to get along after so many years. It has gotten to the point that they get to the appointment and stay on their phones until an hour is over. 

Wang Chen has a goal to make his family assets and influence many times larger than that of the Wen family so that he can break of the engagement without fearing the repercussions. This beauty pill is the step in the right direction so he will beg Wang Kai if he has to. 

A while later..

Kai opened the door to see his brother and father standing there with awkward faces. He let them in. Father Wang looked around the villa that he has only seen in the videos and quickly found the large wolf sleeping in front of a couch.

"Are you not scared of having such a large animal in the house?"

"June will not attack unless I give him instructions or if I am in danger." Kai said. He is not a fool, he can see they are not too worried about the wolf. He just doesn't know how much they know.

"How is your wound?" Wang Yan asked kindly. 

"I can speak now but it is not ideal." He said with his mouth. A raspy voice came out. 

"Does it still hurt?" Wang Chen asked looking at the scar on the neck. That cut was very deep, He clenched his hands thinking if he ever finds out who was it that tried to kill Kai..

"Yes but I will be fine soon." In essence he doesn't want them to stay for too long. He wants to upgrade the wolf next and as his own creation, he wants to ensure that everything goes well.

"I came to check up on you." Wang Yan said suddenly.

"Why?" With his still hoarse voice, Kai asked. His eyes clear without any blame, just curiosity.

"Look, I know I was negligent before but you are not innocent son." Wang Yan said. It is clear he is not use to apologizing. Kai became displeased hearing him. 

"I also know that I am only turning 15 next year. Which means you are the adult in our relationship." Kai typed calmly and the butler spoke for him while he looked at Wang Yan without any emotional fluctuations in his eyes.

"You are right. I could have handled things better. My sincerest apologies." Wang Yan said while inside he is very uncomfortable having to lower himself like this.

"We will see." Kai said and looked at Wang Chen. "Why have the two of you come?"

"Do you remember that pill you gave me?"

"Did you find a wife to give it too? When is the wedding?" Kai asked shocking the two men.

"You wanted me to use it..." Wang Chen didn't know how to finish the statement. 

"To make your girlfriend look pretty. Why? what did you do?" Kai frowned. Hearing him, Wang Yang busted out in laughter. This little son is adorable.

"I thought you were joking. I tested it and it really works and so I sent it to the lab and they can't figure out the formula." Wang Chen explained.

He expected him to be disappointment that his family only came for money but the boy just went up and came back with a recipe formula. He handed it to them.

"I didn't think about selling it, I was practicing my herbalist talent." He smiled and the two dimples showed on each side of his cheeks. They sat and chatted about many things, a while later Wang Yan and Wang Chen left the villa with smiles on their faces. 

Wang Yan became thoughtful as they exited the villa. Kai doesn't seem to see the value of his formula. He just gave it away with a smile like that? How easy will it be for others to fool him in the future?

In the past, he had thought this son of his was too greedy and wanted his other son's inheritance but now he can see the boy had probably just wanted his attention, now Kai doesn't care about his attention anymore.

A week later the Wang family launched a new beauty product that left others in the dust, the main competitor in this specific industry being the Wen family. The efficacy was reduced by 60% so that they will have constant sales but it is still too magical. This took a large chunk of the Wen business away from them. 

Since when did the Wang family's pharmacy produce such high quality products? But they had the patent for the formula and all the rights. The stock price of the Wang corporation increased and a few months the pill was launched internationally. 

The pills are sold in five units and can be taken once every night. Many people soon praised the product and the sales increased steadily.

The Wang family threw another dinner party just for family to celebrate, but Kai still didn't want to show up. Wang Chen didn't give him a chance to refuse him since it will just be their family this time. He went to get him personally to make sure he attends the dinner. 

"Let me escort you to the family dinner." Wang Chen came two hours before it was time for dinner.

Sighing, Kai went and put on a plain blue shirt and black jeans before coming out. "No jacket?" Realizing the weather is a bit chilly outside, Kai took a black jacket and they left for the manor. On the way, Wang asked him if he wants to have the shares on the profit made from the beauty pill because he is the one who developed it after all.

"No I'm good, I get enough money by doing nothing in this family anyways. I have all that I need right now." Kai said with his own voice this time. Looking at Kai who can now speak made Wang feel like it has been a very long time since he heard his brother's voice. 

"Father and I opened a trust for you to use once you want to start a business or when you get married and can not get allowance anymore." Chen said as if he was expecting Kai to decline the shares. 

"Thank you. Since this is a family dinner, is the Wang princess coming?" Kai asked because the internet said she doesn't like Kai. He wanted to be prepared if this dinner is going to be unpleasant. 

"Ning Ning is still not around, you will know when she comes." Wang Chen said thinking if he should call Wang Ning these days. She has been gone for a long time now. 

"Young masters are here." The butler said informing the kitchen. He is amazed at how much Kai has slim dawn. When the two brothers entered the lounge, two men and and two women are seated on the chairs casually talking.

The Wang family has a large manor where Wang Yan was raised. He later used the land a distance away from the manor to develop it into a villa area. He built his own large mansion for his wife after getting married. He didn't want to live with his stepmother and father whom he believed killed his biological mother.

"Is that Kai? When did he lose weight?" The old man asked with surprise. Although Kai had lost weight, it is not hard for someone who used to see him grow up to recognize him.

"Why is your hair and eyes so pink?" The old man asked with a sneer. As an old man of the Wang family, he places great value in the family blood line and this child is not of his blood. Kai didn't show any reaction to his bad tone and said anything. 

"Now that you have finished high school, when are you leaving my Wang family?" The old man asked Kai sharply. 

"Was it you who adopted me?" Kai asked. 

"No. Why would I bring a wild seed into my family lineage?" He said with disgust while looking at Kai as if he is some disgusting thing that should have never been so close to himself.

"So you are not my adoptive parent then?" Kai asked calmly.

"Absolutely not!" The man said in anger. 

"Then I don't have to bother with your questions, if you want be to leave, tell the one who adopted me to chase me away." Kai's voice is now cold and laced with indifference.

The other woman greeted Kai but didn't say anything to him. Dinner is served a while later and everyone ate in silence. 

"I want to make a toast, to Kai...thanks to you we are now sitting at the top of the cosmetics industry. The Wen family is eating our dust." Wang Yan said surprising the old man and woman who looked on in shock. 

"Son, did you make a mistake? Why are you toasting him?" Old man Wang asked looking at his son hoping he heard him wrong. 

"Kai is the one who developed the beauty pill that we are making millions out of. The foreign market is open to us at the end of this financial year, we are expecting billions of dollars." Wang Yang laughed in happiness. Just like his son, he doesn't like the Wen family. 

The old couple did not make any more comments for the rest of the dinner. Kai tried to steal a Champaign sip but his brother took it from him and gave it to the amused staff member to take it away. 

Kai went outside for some fresh air after a while. He happened to find a garden, the place is very pretty with flowers everywhere. It is obvious that someone takes care of them with great care.

"Are you going to hide the entire time?" Wang Yan came out for a smoke and saw Kai looking at the flowers in a daze. 

"I don't really fit in." He say while looking at the flower. "I am surprised there are lixy greens here." He pointed at a purple flower with green leaves.

"That small bush of flowers has been with my wife for as long as I can remember." Looking at Kai's unsightly expression. The cigarette in his mouth dropped to the ground. 

"Is something wrong with the flower?" He looked at Kai who seemed like he doesn't want to talk. Wang Yan grabbed Kai's shoulders and looked him in the eyes. "Is that thing poisonous?" 

"In a way. It disrupts the spirit and makes people confused. If they are exposed to them for a long time, their minds will deteriorate. A weak spirit plus a confused mind....I hope you have changed gardeners at least 8 times in the last decade." He doesn't see the worsening expression of the man next to him.

"My wife takes care of the garden herself. She has been doing it ever since we married." The cigarette in his mouth dropped to the ground and he rushed to the house. He lifted his stepmother by the collar and started bashing her face in.

The old woman couldn't hold on and passed out. Her teeth and blood on the ground. Hearing the noise inside, Kai went in and became dazed at the scene. The old man who had gone to the bathroom came back to find his wife on the ground and his son being restrained by his grandsons.
