Resurrection Arc 8

"WHAT?! You're going to let the prisoners go?!" said Suhani in disbelief.

"Yes. I managed to be a member of the Umbran Society. To be on the Umbran's good sides, I need to release the Umbran members that we've captured," said Kaizo.

"Are you insane?! Those people were trying to kill innocents!"

"I know," Kaizo replied calmly.

"And you're still going to release them?!"

"Ardyn said they're not going to do any sacrificial ritual until the next full moon. They won't be killing anyone for a while," said Kaizo. "He promised to let me meet with the Apostles. It will take a while until I can meet with them. Until then, we are not to engage with anyone in the Umbran society."

Suhani went silent.

"I'll do what I can do to finish things before the next full moon," said Kaizo.

Unable to say anything back, Suhani strode out of the room. Fang flustered. He looked at Kaizo before he decided to follow Suhani.

"So it's real? The magic," said Lahap.

"Ardyn is capable of sensing the magic inside the crown. I think he knows something," said Kaizo.

"How far are you going to chase?"

"As far as it takes…." Kaizo replied with determination.

Suhani strode through the beach in frustration.

"Suhani!" Fang called. "Wait…." He chased her and pulled her hand.

Suhani harshly brushes off his hand.

"Look, I know you're upset. But the captain has a plan," said Fang.

"His plan is to let go of those murderers and join them instead," said Suhani.

"It's called an incognito mission. The Captain is an expert at it. You know how it works. The captain needs to spy the Umbran from the inside to put an end to the Umbran Society for good," said Fang.

"Your Captain is insane! Don't tell me he actually believes what the Umbrans said! He's losing his mind going after his dead girlfriend. We're following a mad man," said Suhani.

"That's not true," Fang objected. He looked at Suhani. "He's my brother. I'm sure he has his reasons."

"Your love towards your brother can make you blind and might get you killed one day," said Suhani coldly. She turned and left Fang in his own thoughts.

Kaizo heads to the prison bay. Followed by Lahap. He looked at the prisoners coldly before he gave Lahap a nod. Lahap pressed a button on the control panel and the prison's door opened. The Umbrans seemed confused.

"I've met one of your messengers. You can leave," said Kaizo.

One by one, the Umbran mages walk out of the prison. The middle-aged man looked at him with a wide grin. He's satisfied that Kaizo joined Umbran society as he expected him to be.

"At last… Welcome to our society," said the middle-aged man.

Kaizo looked at him in disgust.

"I hope you find what you're looking for. And perhaps, you can find us what we're looking for…."

"I wouldn't get over my head if I were you," said Kaizo.

"We'll see…."

Kaizo watches them walk off the ship. The Middle-aged man looked back at him and smiled.

"That man is insane," Kaizo thought to himself.

"Are the trackers ready?" Kaizo asked.

"Yes," Lahap replied.

"Good. Keep an eye on them. I want to make sure they're not planning anything funny," said Kaizo.

"Roger," Lahap replied. He walks back into the ship.

Kaizo went to the beach. He stood at the edge of a cliff facing the sea. He pulled a cigarette and lit it. He slowly breathes in the addictive smoke as he stares at the horizon. Valerius slowly approaches him from behind. He stood beside Kaizo.

"I heard you involve yourself with dark magic," Valerius began. "I saw you with Umbran mages."

"Yeah," said Kaizo indifferently. "What about it?"

"You know dark magic is not something you should tamper with," said Valerius. "I thought you were going to put them down. But when I saw you releasing those mages, it looked like it's the other way around."

"So you were watching all along and decided to do nothing. Heh! Typical," said Kaizo.

"It wasn't my role to act…"

"Like it wasn't your role to save her?! Or at least not kill her?!" Kaizo yelled slightly. His voice shows pain. "It was your sword that went through her, Valerius!" he said in anger.

"Look, I know you hate me for what I did. But this is not how you should spend your life…"

"Oh? How am I supposed to live my life then, oh the great archangel of heaven? Killing my own sibling like you did?" Kaizo asked sarcastically.

Valerius is slightly taken aback by his words.

"Listen to me Kaizo. Don't look for dark magic. It will corrupt you."

"Like it corrupts her?" Kaizo asked. "Or you're just trying to find an excuse to make yourself look better." He looked at Valerius with a painful gaze. "I can't believe they let you roam free while she's dead. They should've sentenced you to death."

"If you insist on staying with the Umbran society, you will end up fighting us," said Valerius.

"Might as well! I still haven't paid my revenge for her death," said Kaizo. He stepped closer and looked Valerius in the eye. His gaze is menacing and full of hate. "If I can at least kill you, then I'll follow any demonic cult to the depth of hell."
