Chapter 2

The chirping of birds woke Itennu, he brushed off his hair that got in his face and he covered his eyes as the beams from the sun blinded him. He ignored that he was in the forest and only slept because he thought it was a dream. But now his back was numb from sleeping on bark and a strong desire for hunger, and water said otherwise.

He climbed off the tree still maintaining the dagger in hand. He needed to find a river, so he climbed the large tree again and scouted all around him. All he could see was green, trees were littered all over the place, but then he spotted a number of trees opening up to what seemed like a swerving royal carpet, he dropped down and started his way making sure to not veer off his path, by climbing large trees.

Itennu was joyed after hearing the sound of rushing water and his eyes lit up as the river came into view. The river was fairly large and rocks were lined on either side of the river. The river was very active and the blue-ish green water seemed to be untouched and pure. He sped up to it and got down on his knees scooping water with his hand and drinking it after he had a satisfactory amount he washed his face.

He paused as he saw his blurry reflection in the running water, his hair was long and straight dropping down to his shoulders, it matched what seemed like a bob cut.

His eyes were fairly big and he could see his large pupils were a vibrant purple, he also could see his tan skin but everything else was just a blur. He could see vague features that hinted at a feminine face, but couldn't discern exactly how he looked due to the nature of the water. He tried to remember how he looked but even that came up short, Itennu sighed. He washed his feet and hands and continued moving, close to the river, but out of sight, inside the forest. He needed to find food, and animals usually come near bodies of water.

They would provide him with food and fur, and Itennu needed both for clothing and for hunger. Itennu felt eerily calm about his situation, his mind although empty of his past memories felt a sort of familiarity that prevented him from panicking. It was as if his body had the experience, but his mind couldn't remember.

He came across a few berries, that were colored red with orange spots, his body wanted to eat them and he felt drool on his lips, but he forced himself not to as he felt they were poisonous due to the nature of their color he recited the quote "Anything with polka-dots on them...is dangerous," but he couldn't recall where he learned it from.

As he walked through the forest he caught sight of a creature eating grass quietly. He came upon the small furry creature which his mind recognized as a 'Rabbit' carefully not disturbing it as he approached

Itennu felt something come over him as without even a single thought he started moving quietly behind the rabbit, not making a sound as he avoided touching past bushes that would've caused him to be exposed. He stayed on the tips of his toes as the rabbit stayed still, only looking around slightly.

Itennu's mind was perplexed as to how he was doing this, but he didn't have time to think as was now positioned behind the rabbit and just needed to approach it. He started his slow creep towards the rabbit, his body tense, and his senses on edge, as the 'rabbit' stayed absolutely still. Itennu was now in reach as he took another little step towards the rabbit, he elevated the dagger slowly over his head and swung. The dagger shrieked in the wind and before the rabbit could respond it was struck cleanly in the head.

Itennu took a deep sigh, he couldn't remember having experience hunting animals but he must've of his must've been very good. He had successfully approached an animal known for its sensitive senses. He pulled the dagger from the rabbit, and then went on to try and skin it. At first, he was awkward not knowing where to start, but a few seconds in, and his body moved like a master, cutting the rabbit down the middle and then using his hands to rip the skin from the rabbit. He cleaned the blood with the river nearby and placed the dark brown fur over his shoulder.

He looked at the raw rabbit and felt he should make a fire. He thought about those green creatures and wondered if that would be a bad idea, but a grumble from his stomach said otherwise. He started his awkward adventure of retrieving differing sizes of dead branches and scouring the forest for something he did not know of but knew he needed, although his memory was gone his instincts guided him. He spotted a cobweb-like set of very thin and small branches and recognized it as the item he needed.

He then started to get to work, this time there was no awkward pause, Itennu recognized his body's knowledgeable instincts and let them guide him. Using a long branch and a piece of flat wood he found from a dead tree, he made a thin hole with his dagger. He then placed the long branch into the thin hole quickly started to rub the branch, going down as he rubbed it and going back up when he reached the end.

Moments later the smoke started to appear, and the wood started to grow black. He then retrieved a small dead branch and placed it in the smoke, the tip of the branch started to smoke too, and he carefully placed the small piece of wood in the cobweb-like branches.

He folded it into itself, and blew into it, and shook it up and down, the smoke grew and grew until red tongues danced from the center of the branches. He then started to add the nearby wood he collected and pierced his dead rabbit with a sharp, sturdy stick that he cleaned in the river and started to roast it over the fire. After his food was cooked he quickly destroyed the fire, as he didn't want to draw too much attention in this unknown forest, especially with those creatures lying about. Itennu squinted his eyes as he looked up to the sky, the sun shining brightly through tree branches and leaves.

Even with no clothes on he still felt relatively warm and he concluded that it was probably summertime. Itennu measured the length of the rabbit fur and estimated he needed to kill at least three more rabbits to make a loincloth for himself, but before that, he climbed a tree laying on the rough bark and basking in the sunlight, he wanted to get comfortable for this meal, and he started to eat away the juicy rabbit meat. Its taste was familiar to him and he happily chowed it down to the bone.

As he finished his final bite, he heard a quiet rustle of bushes, his body started to get goosebumps, as he felt someone was watching him. He heard a faint sound closeby that made the hair on his neck stand. He looked around, and heard a chilling whistling sound behind him, he quickly and instinctively ducked dodging a makeshift spear, he recognized the long wooden handle and the small pointed blade at the tip and recognized the weapon as a spear.

The spear became lodged into the tree, he quickly looked down to see where the spear came from and spotted a furious green creature, much like the one before, staring back at him.

The green creature angrily started yelling at him speaking what seemed like gibberish to him. Itennu tried to take the spear off from the tough bark it was stuck in, and he cautiously still kept his eyes on the creature as he did this. The creature who was quickly moving towards Itennu abruptly stopped as he got the spear free from the tree.

It snarled at him, its eyes gleaming with hatred, as foam started to overflow out of his mouth. Itennu adrenaline pumping in his veins let his body do the work as he slowly stood up from his position.

Spear in hand he let his body lean back as he brought the spear at shoulder level he instinctively tried to take a step back but he stopped himself as he felt nothing but air. The creature seeing his movements knew that he was readying to throw the spear, the creature immediately stopped throwing a tantrum at this sudden realization, and started to fall back to the bushes clumsily falling while doing so. Itennu breathed out as he threw the spear with all the strength he had.

Using his arm strength and a little momentum, the deathly sound of the spear piercing through the air, made the creature more erratic, it couldn't help but take a quick look behind itself. Itennu could see the creature's eyes widen as the spear landed squarely on its head.

The creature ran for a little more but soon fell over its legs giving out. The spear sticking squarely out from its head made Itennu shudder. Itennu shakingly breathed in, another life and death experience that he prevailed. Itennu didn't know what these creatures were but they were smart enough to make spears, daggers, and loincloths, but they were definitely not human and had what seemed like a toddler's brain.

His body didn't feel any remorse as he killed these creatures, they obviously weren't human and they only seemed they wanted to kill him. But if he could kill these humanoid creatures without remorse would he have any remorse killing a human too? As he pondered this the branch that was holding him gave way.

Night fell and Itennu was still rubbing his backside, by this time he had traveled far from the dead creature. He retrieved the creatures' loincloth, which was made with leather and fur, washing it into the nearby river, regretting not taking the other one from the other creature he killed but didn't give it too much thought.

He would use this loincloth but first, he would have to increase its size as his hips were too big for it, he would cut the loin cloth on the sides and use two rabbit furs to do this. He retrieved the makeshift spear and held on to the dagger also. He found another tree to rest on and sighed as he sat down on the branch, his backside still ached but for now, a bed of bark will do.

Itennu, woke up late into the morning, rubbing his tired eyes. He was awakened multiple times throughout the night by noises he deemed at the very least....suspicious. He would move to a different location when he heard those sounds and moved a couple of times throughout the night. The bright night sky gave enough light so that he wasn't walking around in the pitch -black.

He followed a routine of hunting the next morning, his back still ached but his butt wasn't so sore anymore, he followed along the river, making sure to not stray far from it. hoping to find some other civilization but so far trees covered the horizon and beyond. Itennu found and killed one more rabbit and using the previous rabbit's fur and the creature's loincloth made his own loincloth by tying them together and letting them rest at his hips. Itennu now felt somewhat refreshed and more secure in this large forest with his new piece of clothing and continued on the path of the river.

He placed his dagger at his side using the leather strings of his makeshift loincloth to trap it between his hip and the loincloth. He stopped as he heard a big rustle of bushes. He silently moved closer to the sound out of curiosity, and came upon a large creature, it had a large snout, small legs, a fat body, and had two large tusks. 'A boar' Itennu said in his mind, and as a sort of confirmation, the creature snorted. It was munching on grass and no other boar's seemed to be in sight. Itennu noticed his body seemed to know these animals usually stay in groups.

He thought of just passing by it and leaving it, but something in his head told him not to, something compelled him to attack the large creature, you could call it a "hunter's instinct" whatever that was needless to say he couldn't resist, he shadowed the boar, moving around it and behind it, readying his spear.
