Let's Go Magic

Author's Note: The end of the Beacon Academy Arc is getting closer and closer. still got chapters to go before the finale.

Ryder was back at it. Back at training but this time he was in a different location. Ozpin took him to the Emerald Forest so that he could truly go all out and not risk damaging anything vital. Ozpin decided to mix both Ryder's Semblance and Magic training into one so he can better use his magic and Semblance at the same time. Ozpin was curious if Ryder's amplification semblance can boost magic, time to find out. Ryder was currently standing before Ozpin who was instructing him on his plans for training. 

"It's time we merge your training." Ozpin said. "Your Semblance and Magic have the potential to project strength in unity." 

"What's first?" Ryder asks. 

"Let's try a basic magical attack without your semblance and then activate your semblance and try again." Ozpin explains. 

Ryder nods before he turns away from Ozpin. Though, how is he going to launch an attack with magic? He never got that far into training. Maybe Ozpin is testing him to see if he can evolve without some level of guidance. He then gets an idea he wants to try. He brings his hands up to the side and creates an orb of magic in each hand. He then expands the orbs into a ball, one in each hand. He then throws the orb in his right hand and then the left one. Both orbs hit a tree and exploded. The trees are obliterated. Ryder smiles. His first Magic based technique was based on a move from Dragon Ball. The basic, Ki Blast. Sure, it's nothing extraordinary but it's at least a step towards the right direction. Oh, the amount of Dragon Ball moves he can replicate with these powers. 

"Now, do the same thing with your semblance activated." Ozpin instructs. 

Ryder does as he's told. He activates his semblance making the green aura appear around him and his eyes turn green in the process. He creates one Magic Orb and throws it forward. When it hit a tree, the explosion was massive. So massive that it shocked Ryder and caused Ozpin to widen his eyes a little. Ozpin composes himself though shortly after. All that's left when the smoke vanishes is a crater and destroyed trees. Ryder looked at his hand. 

"Good. But remember from this experience, your magic can be used to cause great good and great evil." Ozpin said. 

"So, this proves that I can merge my Semblance with my Magic." Ryder adds. 

"Indeed. Though, I had no doubt." Ozpin states. 

They hear growling and turn to see a sizable number of Grimm. 

"It would seem we have uninvited guests. Would you mind taking care of them?" Ozpin asks. 

Ryder nods before he charges the Grimm and begins fighting them. As Ryder attacks the Grimm, a Beowolf sneaks up on Ozpin who didn't seem worried. Before the Beowolf dove forward a sword pierced it from behind and killed it. Qrow removed his blade from the now dead Grimm. Ozpin looks over his shoulder and at Qrow who sheathes his weapon. 

"Need something, Qrow?" Ozpin asks. 

"Nothing really, just came to see how the magical boy was doing." Qrow said. 

Ozpin turned his head and gazed back at Ryder who's still fighting Grimm. Qrow, now standing beside Ozpin, watched Ryder fight the Grimm. He then looks at Ozpin. 

"You think he can handle it?" Qrow asks. 

"Hm?" Ozpin looks at Qrow. 

"Handle everything with Salem. I doubt his world is as dangerous as ours." Qrow said. 

"I'm not entirely sure. Though, i have confidence he can overcome the obstacles ahead." Ozpin said. 

"That's not what i meant Oz. I mean can he handle all of this mentally?" Qrow asks once again. 

Ozpin was silent for a moment. 

"Like I had said. I'm not sure. The future is unclear, especially with the appearance of the Dragon Ball relics. The entire game has shifted and who's ever favor it shifted in is unknown. We need to tread carefully." Ozpin explained. 

"And letting Kairos and Ryder into the secret is being careful?" Qrow asked with crossed arms. 

"I made a calculated risk. One that paid off in the end. Both Kairos and Ryder have the potential to surpass even the Maidens. Combined, I believe they could even become unstoppable. But Salem is anything but predictable, which is why I urge our caution." Ozpin explained. "The road ahead is filled with uncertainty, but it is paramount that we step forward and face these uncertainties with determination and bravery. Only through our willingness to step up and face the unknown may we evolve." 

Qrow turned his head and looked at Ryder as he killed the last Grimm. Ryder let out a breath as he finished fighting. Ryder walked over to Ozpin and spotted Qrow who nods at the Earth born warrior. 

"What brings you here?" Ryder asks. 

"Figured I'd check up on you. Ruby and Yang speak rather highly of you and i wanted to see for myself what skills they were talking about." Qrow states. "You took care of those Grimm well, but from here on our it'll be more than just Grimm. Especially with Salem mixed into our problems." 

"I'm aware and am preparing myself to handle these problems." Ryder said. 

"Well, prepare faster. Cause I don't know how much time we have." Qrow said ominously. 

Ryder merely gazes at Qrow. Qrow ditches his ominous look and grabs his flask. 

"So just keep training and prepare all you can. But for your own sake. Take a break, never know when that precious time will vanish forever." Qrow said before drinking from his flask. 

Ryder thought about what he said. Maybe he should go to the Tournament, for a little bit. Take a break like he said. Ruby and Yang would be happy about that if he did. So maybe he should take a break for a bit. Perhaps he will soon lose his time off and could use all the free time he needs. That now gets him thinking, he's not yet prepared to fight other people truly. Sure, he helped take down Roman when he had stolen a Paladin mech, but he mainly gave his support and never took part in direct combat. So, the question remains. Is he truly prepared to face future threats, or is he going to falter and become a liability?
