Chapter 2

A week has passed since that incident in the ocean. The small fishing vessel has miraculously survived the storm and was able to regain its functionality. The crew happily continues fishing in the South China Sea and now with a new member. Since the woman did not know who she is, the group decided to call her Yun Rong.

As the net is being lifted by the derrick, three men and a young woman are assisting the net full of small fishes.

On the bridge, Mister Ji has a look of displeasure in his eyes while watching the beautiful young woman. His eyes slowly darted on the hand which was pierced by his scalpel last week. For some unknown reason, the wound on her hand has already healed and does not show any scar. This made him feel baffled, confused, and resentful.

The reason for this is because one of his arms is still broken while it is wrapped in a bandage. This was the same arm she broke a week ago when he tried to hit her with a wrench. At that time, he did not know what happened next as all he saw were stars as his world suddenly whirls around. It was as if he was send hurtling in the air and then his face was planted on the floor of the mess room. Then the bone of his arm came cracking before he lost his consciousness.

The fall made him pass out and when he woke up, his arm is already bandaged and his bones set. It seems that the woman was the one who set his bones after the captain seems to have been able to talk to her. For some reason, she seems to be good at bone mending, as if she has already experienced it.

The captain was able to communicate with her through signs and facial expressions. It was not easy, but the captain was able to convince her that they are not a threat to her.

According to the captain, the young woman seems to feel a bit sorry and decided to help him mend his arm.

She was a bit confused at that time and seems to not know what to do as she did not know who she is. But after a day, she finally calmed down.

She seemed normal on a day-to-day basis besides the loss in her memory. The crew did not bother with her more and instead began to busy themselves trying to figure out how to fix the broken sea vessel.

Two days have passed at that time and the crew began to feel desperate once again. The fishes they've caught inside the tanks would soon die and rot if the engine and the electrical of the ship would not be repaired soon. They desperately tried to read the manual but to no avail no matter what they tried to do.

But then they suddenly saw her walking to the engine room and began checking and familiarizing herself with the huge engine of the ship. Then after a while, everyone suddenly heard the sound of clanking and banging.

They were afraid that the engine might have been broken by her, so they ran inside the engine room. But they suddenly heard the sound of the engine running and this delighted the whole crew.

What baffled the group besides that is that, is that the young woman suddenly was able to talk in Chinese, 3 days later.

And with her help, everything went back to normal in the fishing vessel. The crew took highly of her skills and has treated her as one of their own ever since then. She is not only a beautiful and talented woman, but the crew also discovered that she is as strong as them and is able to work as efficiently as they are.

They truly like the young woman's quiet attitude and the rest of the crew treated her as their young sister, calling her little Rongrong. Everyone likes her except for one person, and that is Mister Ji.

Unknown to them, Yun Rong was able to discover something about her suit. Ever since she stayed in the boat she has not removed the suit on her body. She learned that the suit is called 'Shape-Shifting Bio Computer Suit' or SSBCS.

This happened on the second day from when she woke up. The SSBCS was able to communicate with her when she cups her left hand on her ears while sleeping. From there she learned a lot of things about the ability of her suit.

She was also able to learn about the basic language prerecorded in the suit as it listens to the people around her. She also learned that the suit can copy any clothing design she touches. The learning ability of the suit is truly awesome.

From then on, she began gathering the only books on the ship. That's why she is able to even repair the ship's engine. But she also seems to know how to repair electrical equipment which seems to have baffled her at that time.

However, she kept this secret from the crew.

At this moment, after helping outside, Yun Rong is laying on the lower bunk bed in the cabin.

Knock! Knock!

The knocking sound got her attention.

"How are you feeling?" the captain asked while looking at the young woman who slowly puts down the book she is reading.

"Fine I guess…" she replied with a shrug.

"You still could not remember anything?"

"No… All I could recall is the seawater as I desperately swim to the surface. Besides that… nothing. Not even fragments of my memory…" she replied.

"Hmm… This is going to be hard. We will have to go to Sanya fishing port to unload the fish. Since we have veered off from our previous location because of the sudden storm last week, it would take us around a day more before arriving. Take some rest…" the captain said while he turns around and left the cabin.

Left alone in the cabin, Yun Rong looks out of the small window and into the vast horizon. She did not know what the future holds as she knows nothing about her past. Without any memories, she is just a blank slate with nothing to think back or recall. Everything around her is new, and she might not admit it, but she likes the feeling of learning the many new things in her life right now.

The captain walks to the bridge and saw Mister Ji sitting on the side while gnawing on a jerky.

"How is your arm?" the captain asks with a smile.

"I'll live…" Mister Ji replied with an annoyed expression.

The captain looks at the grumpy man and shook his head. He knew why this guy is mopping in the bridge. It was because of the incident last week. Although he did not believe that Mister Ji is a bad person, sometimes his actions would always demonstrate his feelings.

The captain has noticed that this guy has been glaring at Yun Rong for a while now. But other than the desire and anger, he could also see fear and resentment in his eyes.

The captain did not want to dwell on this guy's feelings, so he shook his head and looks at the chart on the table.

Suddenly, he noticed something.

"You… did you do this?" the captain asked with a sunken expression.

Mister Ji was a bit taken aback and looks at the captain with a confused expression.

"What do you mean captain?" he asked as he stands up and also looks at the map.

"We've been set off course… again." the captain said with a frown.

Suddenly, Mister Ji's expression changes as he has actually forgotten the captain's instruction a while ago. He was told to set the ship's direction towards Sanya. But it seems that his mind was a mess and they veer off to another path.

The expression on Mister Ji's face told everything. The captain felt helpless and then turns to face the steering wheel of the ship. He then turns the ship to the port side about 40 degrees to correctly set their course.

The fishing vessel then traveled the path while the two monitor the radar of the ship. The reason why the captain is worried right now is that he noticed in their navigation equipment and the map that they are in a dangerous part of the South China Sea.

In these parts of the sea, there are those scourges that plunder and kill to their heart's desire, the pirates.

Many fishing vessels have been reported missing in this part of the deep waters. Though the news told the people that those ships sunk because of the weather or some malfunction, the fishermen knew that it was not all true.

One of the most common reason are the pirates that infested these parts of the ocean. The authorities have tried to capture them, but they are as sleeper as a loach, very hard to find and very hard to capture.

Through the years, these pirate infestations have grown to such a degree that the coast guards are at a loss. They decided to set a boundary to warn any vessel not to enter these parts of the ocean.

But then it seems that their prayers would not be answered today. The two discover a blip on the radar which indicates that they have found another ship. With this, their hearts suddenly skipped a beat.

But they are still praying that the radar is wrong. But then, it still indicates that there is an incoming vessel towards them.

"Everyone! Get inside the ship right now!" shouted the captain in the speaker system.

When the crew heard this, they all showed a confused look on their face. But they dare not disobey the captain and quickly went inside the bridge.

"Captain, what's wrong?" one of them asked.

"We… we might have encountered something." Mister Ji said with an anxious expression.

Upon seeing his face, some of them could somewhat tell what the situation is.

"Pirates?" one of the crew asked.

Mister Ji nodded his head.

"We are not sure yet! But we need to be vigilant…" the captain tried to appease their worried hearts.

Then everyone's gaze landed on the only woman sitting on the bunk bed.

"Little Rongrong, wear a hat and thick clothing. We need to hide you…" one of the young crew members said as he handed her his hat and grabs a cotton-padded jacket from the side.

Yun Rong just looks at it with a frown. She has read about pirates in one of those books on the ship. And she knew how terrible those guys are. They would kill and plunder for no apparent reason and would do many evil things.

As of this moment, there are two things that are in her mind, how to escape and how to eliminate.

These two contrasting ideas are making her feel confused. One is telling her how to survive, while the other is giving her some kind of dark desire for blood.

She felt this same feeling when she suddenly grabs the arm of Mister Ji a week ago and broke it. At that time, she could clearly recall the exhilarating experience. But after doing so, her heart immediately felt heavy. At that time, she has the desire to kill the man.

"Kill… what an unfamiliar yet familiar feeling…" she thought.

In fact, she did not think anything wrong about it. It's just that her feeling would become heavy when thinking of such a thing.

Suddenly a question pops out of her mind as she glances over the window.

"If the pirates really threaten us… or me… What should I do then?"

She suddenly grabs a telescope hanging on the wall and quickly looks through it.

With the use of the telescope, her vision was further enhanced and she could now almost clearly see those people on the small ship's forecastle deck.

Then what she suddenly muttered send shivers running down the spine of the rest of the crew.

"The pirates are here…"
