Chapter 27| Proposal

3 months later

These past months had been the best in my life, although there is still this hole in my heart that refused to be filled up. It was as if something or SOMEONE was lacking to complete it. Cavill and I had fun, and he lived up to his promise to treat me like a queen. One day we rode to the markets, and he got me a tiny, elegant hairpin. He was upset because the vendor was almost too scared just by taking the bag of gold that was on Cavill's hand. After that, we went back to the palace, and it took a full hour to calm him down.

"Are you okay, my dear? You seem to be thinking of something," Cavill whispered in my ear as he gripped my hand and gave it a light squeeze.

I gave him a smile. "Yes, I am, but what I do not understand is that why did you throw a grand feast for tonight? Did guests arrive?"

And by the meaning of 'guest', I hoped that it was Julian. Lively Music rung throughout the hall, and in front of us were a group of entertainers. Different assortments of food were laid out on the table, but I paid no attention to it as I drank the mead on my chalice.

Different Colors decorated the hall. The Flag of Risalam was hung at the center, and the rich laughter of the townspeople reached my ears. Everybody seemed so carefree- like they did not think of what was to come tomorrow.

Cavill sighed and shook his head. He leaned in and kissed my cheek. "Aurora, I have to tell you something, but please don't be mad. I can't afford you to be upset at me, my love."

"What did you do this time?" I faced him mischievously, my brows raised as I waited for his answer. He scratched his nape and avoided my peering eyes.

"Promise me that you won't be mad." he looked at me straight in the eye.

"Cavill...." I frowned, "What did you do?"

He squeezed my hand tightly and kept on looking at me. He had a serious look on his face, which meant that this was either important or that he made a grave mistake.

"Promise me first."

I sighed. "Okay, Okay. I promise I won't get mad at you. Now tell me what's on your mind or else," I threatened.

"I invited Karill and Julian over. I have an important announcement to make and... It was inappropriate seeing as she is my sister and- mmpphh" I cut him off by crashing my lips on his soft ones.

I withdrew and cupped his face. "It is okay, you don't have to worry about anything. I chose you, and I will stand by it."

He released a relieved sigh. He pecked my lips once more. "I'm so lucky to find a woman like you,"

We went back to eating our food, but the beat of my heart just got faster. Julian is here? I did not dare to look up, afraid that if I did, I would see his eyes and I'll run into his arms.

Cavill rang a bell that was given to him by a servant. He stood up in all his glory, emitting a strange aura of power. The music and the laughter stopped as all the guest's eyes were trained on Cavill. He did not seem to think much of it.

He cleared his throat. "Thank you for coming here tonight, it is truly an honor. As all of you know, I found a woman. A queen, perhaps, who is more than capable to rule this kingdom by my side," he looked over to me.

I blushed but kept my head high when the heated gazes diverted to me. Cavill took my hand and asked me to stand beside him.

"All of you must be wondering about when the wedding would take place. Sadly, I, myself, do not know because I still haven't asked her about it. But now, I see this opportunity and I would gladly take it."

I gulped.

"To the woman who captured my heart just by a single glance, to the woman who made me a better person," Cavill exhaled, " Princess Aurora of Desrakil, will you marry me?" he took out a ring that has a tiny, blue colored crystal at the center. It was beautiful, but then I froze.

My hand covered my gapin mouth as I looked at him in shock. He is kidding, isn't he? Is he actually proposing to me?

Gasps echoed the room and it was pin-drop silence. It was deafening, as they waited for my response. My eyes roamed throughout the room, but it was then locked by a pair of amber eyes looking at me with pain. It was Julian. He changed drastically, a scruff of beard decorated his jaw and he looked more mature. He was pleading me with his eyes to say no, but I cannot do this to Cavill.

A tear slid down my eye as I tore my gaze away from Julian. My eyes centered on Cavill, who was looking at me expectantly.

I smiled down at him. "Yes."

A full-blown smile made its way into his face and the room erupted in cheers and applause. Cavill wasted no time in putting the ring on my finger. It fit snugly, but my mind wandered to the ring that Julian gave me.

Cavill crashed his lips against mine, kissing me with happiness. He cupped my cheek. "Thank you."

I nodded, but then a feeling started making its way into my heart. It was the feeling of dread. How could I marry another man if my heart and mind often wonder to another? This was bad, very bad.

Karill and Julian walked up to us, hand in hand. A noticeable bump was on Karill's stomach, and I froze. Is she- oh god. I felt sick as I kept staring at her bump. I almost laughed. Here I was, worried about what Julian's reaction might be. Turns out he already moved on.

"Brother," she gave Cavill a smile. Her hair grew, but mine was longer. Cavill took her in his arms, as hugged her tightly but then he was slightly pushed by Karill.

"Careful brother, you might hurt the baby," Karill scolded Cavill.

He gave out a laugh and pulled me in his arms. "Congratulations! I see that Julian already has an heir to secure the throne,"

Julian just kept looking at Cavill's hand that was on my waist. He was stiff, and Karill squirmed beside him. His hand was gripping Karill tightly that I knew it was going to bruise. He snapped out of his reverie and just gave us a nod.

Karill attempted to lighten the tension. "So! We just wanted to congratulate you brother. I didn't know that you could be so romantic when all you did was annoy me since we were children,"

Cavill let out a laugh. "Well, I did not know either. It seems like this woman over here brings the best out of me," he pecked my lips and I smiled over to him.

I placed my hand on Cavill's chest. I smiled over to Karill, my eyes never leaving the bump on her stomach. "Trust me, it is not hard. Not when he showers you with kisses every time," I leaned my head on his shoulders.

They all laughed, except Julian. He just kept on glaring at Cavill. "Excuse me," he stormed out.

"That was weird, you know what I should follow him," Karill curtsied and ran after Julian. It made me wonder. How did Julian treat her? Was she treated like a queen? or something else?

A yawn escaped my lips causing Cavill to look over to me. "Are you tired, my love?"

"Yes, I think I'll go to sleep now. You don't need to escort me, just enjoy the party, okay?"

He looked like he was going to insist but then I did not give him a time to reply because I dashed out of the hall. I was super tired, and all I wanted was to lay in bed.

Not a single soul could be seen in the hallways as I walked. It was eerily silent, but I found it comfortable.

Suddenly, I was pushed on the wall, a hand clamping over my mouth to prevent me from screaming.
