Chapter 24| Moving on

"Your Highness, his Majesty requests for you to have breakfast with him," A maid that was combing my hair told me. I nodded and smiled before looking at my self in the mirror. I wore a blue dress that made my crystal eyes pop out, and my wavy brown hair was slicked back and let down.

I smoothed out my dress as I looked for any wrinkles. The dark circles under my eyes were gone, and what was once tear-streaked eyes were now replaced with lively ones. I changed drastically. Julian and Karilla already left last week, and I stayed whole up in my room since then.

I decided to go out now because I did not want to disappoint Cavill. I chose him, and I told him that I would give him a chance, so why not live up to my promise and give us a try. Besides, I felt bad for the man. Every night, he knocks on my door to make sure I'm okay, but I was into my moping around that I did not realize his effort.

Going out and walking towards his private chambers, I felt my heart hammer in my chest. Was this it? I sighed. I was escorted in, and there he was, his broad back turned to me as he stared outside. When he noticed my presence, he turned around swiftly, with a swish of his waist-length blond hair. It looked so soft, I was tempted to hold it.

Cavill looked at me with happiness and a huge smile was on his face. I can't help but gaze down in an attempt to hide the blush that was making its way into my cheeks. What was happening to me? I can't move on that fast.

Seeing his smile made me remember the rumors about him. It was said that he was viler than any creature, yet the man standing infront of me said otherwise. He looked so carefree- so good. But then I remembered Julian. He was rumored to be the 'Sinner of Kashmir', and I was so naive to think that he was a good person just because he was good to me- at least before he cheated on me.

I was about to curtsy to Cavill when he shook his head. I looked at him confused.

"You don't need to bow to me; We are not equals, I am below for a goddess like you." He gave me one of his charming smiles as he bent down, took my hand, and kissed it. The kiss lingered for a second before he stood back up. I felt like a tomato when we just gazed into each other's eyes.

I snapped out of our trance. He seemed too because after a while he avoided my eyes and scratched his nape. A red tinge was making its way into his cheeks and I laughed. His blush deepened as he looked at me, confused.

"What?" he cocked his head to the side.

I cackled. "Awwwwww, are you blushing?" I gushed. It was rare to find a man of his power to blush. It was iconic.

"No, I'm not. What makes you say that? Anyway, let's eat. The food is getting cold." The blush on his cheeks turned redder. I laughed even more.

"You're adorable." I chuckled. He looked at me momentarily before a dark look passed his eyes. Ooops, did I say something? He sauntered towards me in a predatory manner. A smirk was making its way into his face, and the blush on his cheeks was gone.

He growled. "What did you say?"

"Uh, y-you're adorable?" It was more of a question than a statement. I cautiously stepped backward as he kept stalking towards me. I have a feeling that something bad was gonna happen.

I cautiously held my hand out for him in an attempt to make some distance. "Cavill, w-what do you think you're doi- AHHHHH!"

I screamed when suddenly he picked me up and threw me on the bed. He rolled on top of me before his hands snaked to my side and started tickling the hell out of me. I laughed to the point where there were tears in my eyes. I thrashed, but he just kept on.

"Who's adorable now?" he taunted, not even stopping for a second.

I took it as a challenger as I wheezed out. "Y-You."

He growled and tickled me harder.

"CAVILL S-STOP IT!!" I screamed bloody murder. He dismissed me by moving to my neck and resuming his tickle there.

"Tell me I'm not adorable." He stopped, finally. He looked at me, waiting for my answer. His hands were slowly going back to my sides, and I knew that if I said something wrong, I'll end up dead from being tickled.

"You are not adorable." I cautiously said. He rolled off me and stood back up, smoothening his clothes. "Good."

It suddenly dawned upon me. This was the first time I laughed- truly laughed since we came here. Sadness crept up to my heart when I thought about Julian again. It was too late to realize that I loved him, but I can't do anything about it now that I chose Cavill over him. I guess I would have not realized it either if I did not do this choice. Although I wished that I did not know.

I suddenly remembered Meredith. God, how am I supposed to do this now? I have powers that I don't know how to control and know that there is a slim chance of seeing her again, I doubt it would be much help. Oh, and Freya! How come I forgot all about it!

"What is the matter? You look a little pale," Cavill asked me, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I cleared my throat. " Yes, errr.. Yes I am."

"Are you sure? If you want to rest, you can always tell me. I'll be there for you."

My heart warmed as I heard those words. I gave him smile before nodding my head. He did not seem to buy it, but instead, he motioned to the seat he took out from me. I walked over and sat there, immediately going for the water that was placed infront of me and drinking the contents of it. I sighed.

We started eating. My plate was full of fruits, as per Cavill's request. It was filled to the brim with sliced mangoes, oranges, grapes, and apples. A goblet of mead was to my right, and I reached for it. I released a satisfied groan as bursts of flavor shot on my tongue. This has to be the best Mead Ever!

I clicked my tongue and faced Cavill. "Well, I got to be honest. Your kingdom has the best mead in the whole world. Even Desrakil can't complain about it."

"I can't really deny that. If you want, you can have mead every day, but I'm afraid that it will keep you bloated till you can't walk." He joked. I laughed.

He then looked at me with those same emerald green eyes. "I love hearing you laugh."

I did not know what to say to that, so I kept quiet. An idea popped in my mind, but I was afraid to ask him about it. He seemed to notice this as he put down his utensil and stared at me passively.

"Something is on your mind. Tell me about it," he said.

I hesitated for a second before answering. "Are the rumors true?"

He stiffened and I was afraid that he would lash out on me, but fortunately, he did not. He just sighed and leaned back on his seat, his right hand holding a goblet of wine. His green eyes turned a shade darker as he stared into my blue ones.

"Only if you make them out to be," he finished the wine, stood up, and left.

I emptied the contents of mead in my mouth as I thought about what he said. What does that mean?
