Rees pauses next to me, but he is not looking at the sight below like I still am. He is looking at me.
"I looked for you yesterday before Transfiguration, but you did not show up for your class," Rees says, and its curious because he doesn't talk like he hasn't seen me all week. It was just yesterday when he was looking for me and inconvenienced when I was nowhere to be found. I have not seen Rees since I broke through the seal on my own, so he is not aware that I have been able to shift.
"I needed a break from being stared at," I say, which is true. It's just not the only reason I missed classes yesterday. If he is only asking why I wasn't around yesterday, then he either didn't care or didn't notice that I have been avoiding him all week.
"And you?" I ask and turn to him. "Where have you been?"
