Everything about Werewolves had interested me ever since Layton and Zev had shifted in front of me for the first time.

"I had a mate. She’s gone now," Liam answered.

His expression hardened and his eyes turned cold in just seconds.

"She left you?" I asked, not believing how that was possible.

Even though I got angry with Layton, I knew I would never really be able to leave him.

"She was killed after we attacked Layton’s pack. It’s not a nice story," Liam told me.

His voice was a growl, and he seemed ready to attack anyone who was willing to go up against him. I wanted to reach out to him, ask him so many questions.

When I was about to open my mouth, Liam interrupted me.

"Don’t even ask me what I did after she was killed. I’m not proud of it," he said, getting a faraway look in his eyes.

"Can I ask you something?" Minutes had gone by without either of us saying anything.

"What?"
