Chapter 3

  Yvette's POV

"I feel like someone's staring at us."

Alice's voice suddenly sounded in my mind while I was running. Startled, I almost fell.

I slowed down my pace and responded to her, "What are you talking about? Who would do something like that?"

Few paid attention to me in the Silver Lake Pack. It didn't bother me, though. In fact, I even felt comfortable with it.

"I dunno. Just smell danger somehow," said Alice.

"How's that possible?" I knitted my brow. "The guards are not just for show. They wouldn't allow a rogue into our pack."

"Maybe it's not a rogue," Alice reminded.

Perturbed, I suddenly felt like someone was actually fixing his gaze on me.

So I sped up and ran back to my apartment.

When I was going up the stairs, I nearly lost my balance. The pain between my legs was so intense that I grimaced.

I quickly leaned against the wall and covered my abdomen.

  It was so weird.

How could the pain of sex in a dream linger on in reality?

  In discomfort, I returned home.

Then I collapsed on the sofa, gulping for air. After I adjusted my breath, I turned on the TV.

  Alpha Black's image appeared again.

'Why is he everywhere?!' I wondered.

On the screen, he walked out of a building and got into a luxury car, his face deadpan.

Before getting in, he suddenly glanced at the camera. The look in his eyes was haughty, condescending, as if he got the world at his feet.

He looked exactly like this when he flung me to the bed in my dream.

Not daring to take another look, I immediately turned off the TV. My face was burning, my heart racing, and my mind in turmoil.

Suddenly, there was a knocking at the door.

Puzzled, I walked over. The minute I opened the door, several burly men in black suits barged in.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

They didn't smell like members of Silver Lake Pack.

"Miss Schwartz, Alpha Black demanded to see you."

To my surprise, they bowed at me instead of being rude.

  "What?" I was stunned.

'What does it mean? So they came for me?'

All of a sudden, they dispersed and lined up on either side of my room.

Then a tall young man strode in.

His Alpha aura was so overwhelming that I dared not lift my head.

The short hair framed his flawless face. As he darted a glance at me, there was disdain in his eyes. He oozed superiority from every pore.

  Alpha Black.

  Again.

Right in front of me was a man that outshone everyone, but I wasn't in the mood to appreciate his charm.

I was simply struck dumb by the sight of him.

So that was not a dream.

  It did happen.

What I had been through in the mysterious, unfamiliar room last night was all real.

Since I noticed my discomfort in the morning, I sensed that something was wrong. But I refused to believe it, lying to myself that it was nothing but a nightmare.

But now, I had to face reality. 'I was raped,' I slumped to the ground and thought.

The idea hit me like a ton of bricks!

But shouldn't he feel guilty? How could he show up so composedly as if nothing had happened?

Black stood still with disgust and mockery in his eyes. Then, he slowly raised his right hand and pointed at me, commanding, "I wanna talk to her in private."

He gave an order as if he was an emperor.

  "Yes, Alpha Black!"

The men in black suits lowered their heads and left one by one. When the last person went out, he closed the door.

Only Alpha Black and I remained in the apartment.

He was eyeing me with contempt, a hint of enjoyment on his handsome face.

A few minutes later, I finally managed to collect myself. Getting to my feet, I headed to the door in a daze.

'I gotta go', I told myself.

The strong aura emanating from Black along with the embarrassing memories were killing me.

When I passed by, he suddenly reached out and gripped my arm.

"Yvette, you think you can just walk outta here without saying a word? Do you think I'm dead?" Black's voice was icy.

Numb with terror, I just wanted to shift and escape.

I tried calling Alice, but she gave no response as if she had disappeared.

  "Say something!" Black roared.

After taking a deep breath, I said, "I don't see why I should talk to you now. I'm gonna report you to the Council of Elders."

"Report me?" Black shouted, "You bitch! You wanna prevent me from seeing my own child?"
