Chapter 27

Tara

THE memory of being locked here was still fresh in my mind. Dark Mountains’ prison cells were my nightmare. It was so eerily dark inside, you’d think sunlight never graced the earth. The solitary lightbulb in the hallway was the only source of light here.

I looked at Leo as he led me to Charles’ cell. I can feel the tension from him because Connor doesn’t know we were here.

After Charles admitted to killing Philip Graves, Connor had him immediately sent to prison. He mind linked Luke to get Charles out of the house and I saw the betrayed look on the Beta’s face. It was almost painful to watch as Charles was pulled away from Connor’s office. No one said a word and yet the silence was so loud.

“Five minutes, Luna.”

I looked back to see Leo stand a few feet away from the cell where Charles was in. I nodded at him. I knew Connor would be mad if he found out I went here. He would be madder if he found out his head warrior allowed me.
