CHAPTER TWO

"Your husband, the alpha requests your presence at his own Chambers" one of the guard of the pack said as he bowed to the luna.

"I would be there right away then" Luna Ashley nodded as she dismissed him. She was the great alpha Ferdinand Luna and mate. She was a very beautiful lady in her late thirties and was the opposite of her husband. Ashley was soft hearted, but not weak and cared deeply for her pack members.

Standing up quickly from the armchair, she went over to the mirror, combing her long hair briefly. After that she tied it neatly before going out to meet him.

Her relationship with the alpha was not like the relationship between other mates as she feared him greatly, even though she always tried not to make it look so obvious.

On getting to his chambers, she knocked briefly before opening the door as she entered into the large drawing room.

"Morning dear, you asked for me" she said as she sat beside him, fixing her eyes on his face.

"Yes, good morning dear, how was the night? He asked looking up from the book he was reading.

"Very fine dear" she answered wondering what he wanted to tell her that early morning. He had come back from a meeting yesterday's evening looking very gloomy and had refused to speak to anyone including her. He had only greeted her and had retired to his chambers and she hadn't seen him again until this morning.

"I wanted to tell you that you should be more serious on your duties as the head luna of the packs. I am always very busy and I have many trivial and important matters to handle and looking into the matter of a missing a missing child who was found is not one of them" He said his smile turning into a frown.

Only him could do this. Switch mood between seconds with the speed of lightening.

"The matter that come up every day that I have to handle is no child's play and I don't have time for these little things you could handle yourself" He continued looking back at the book he had been reading before she entered.

"Oh that, I would look into that today, you don't have to be bothered. Besides, I have been handling more strenuous matter than that minor issues" Ashley replied patting him lightly on his back.

After a little discussions with him, she returned to her Chambers.

A lot had happened lately. Her new friend who helped her back to the castle some years back, when she lost her way home and was stuck in the wood, had taken her own life.

The strange charming woman had thought her many things since they met and she had also learnt a lot from her. They seemed to be getting along so well until she discovered she was a witch.

Witches had existed many years ago and lived very far away from where the wolves lived. They lived in peace but never trespassed or came to across each other often. They were very powerful in sorcery and could change to any form they wished to.

The only time they came in contact was when they traded at the market square in those ancient times because the witches were rich in strong medicine flowers for curing any kind of disease and also tiger nuts which the wolves fed on, which gave them strength.

The tiger blossomed very much in the witch kingdom alongside other good crops, infact they were very prosperous in many different kind of crops.

It was very unfortunate it didn't do so well in the wolves world, that was why they bought it from them.

After some years, something terrible happened in the witch kingdom which was caused by one of thier ruling queen. Females were the dominant and powerful ones in the witch kingdom and ruled over thier husband's.

The queen had killed a werewolf that had strayed into her vicinity and it had brought about war between them and the wolves, and because the they were guilty, the wolves had travailed and won and killed almost every witch in thier city.

The rest were said to have died of a dreadful disease and that was the end of the witches. That was how the went into extinct and everyone believed there was nothing like "witch" in that part of the world anymore.

That was what everyone thought until Ashley, the Luna of black crystal packed had discovered one.

She had realized it in shock but kept it to herself because the witch was not harmful in anyway and had even saved her life. And afterwards they had become friends. What surprised Luna the most was that Miriam never had any strange or abnormal scent that could expose her and only Ashley knew she wasn't one of them.

They had been friends for years now until she had fallen in love with an alpha wolf whose mate was late, who only used her, her intelligence to build his pack and had abandoned her.

Ashley had warned her about the impending doom, of a witch falling in love with a wolf, as it wouldn't lead to anything serious, but it had fallen on deaf ears. And now she was gone, leaving a strange baby behind.

When the baby was brought to the castle by an elderly woman, Ashley had known immediately whose it was. It had a large grey eyes and striking resemblance with the mother.

She alone knew what the baby would grow into. Half wolf and half witch...a creature unheard of since history.

Her instinct had told her to kill the baby right away, but she couldn't. It looked so innocent and she wouldn't be able to forgive herself if she does that.

She was indecision and confused about it and asked Elizabeth to take her home and bring her back the next two days when she might have made up her mind on what to do.

"Oh Miriam, why did you did this to yourself and this child, if you truly knew it was an abomination" Ashley muttered to herself shaking her head, in deep thought.

"Mother, have you seen my painting? Adam said running into the room with a white drawing book on his hand making her snap out of her thought.

He was only six years old and the only son of alpha Ferdinand, who was going to be the next succeeding alpha. Adam was very smart for his age and always asked a lot of question because he was always curious to learn new things.

His father was very proud of him and always pleased with him.

"No son, let me see" she said stretching her hands to collect the drawing he wanted to show her.

"It's very nice honey" She said kissing him lightly on the cheek.

"Thank you mother, I have a lesson with Uncle Barnabas" he said smiling.

"Run along then dear" Ashley said kissing him lightly on the forehead as he ran out of the room. He was always running and never seemed to walk and was always impatient with dull people just like his father.

Adam was the only son of Ashley but he had two elder sisters who were much more older then him.
