Chapter 11: Stay near, Mate

I would decide to blame it on my blinding anger or the fact that I had nowhere to stay and the night was already here, that I had just pulled into Alec's driveway, but either ways i was here and I had no intention of going back. Well, not now.

I got down from Leila's car, not forgetting to press the lock and trudged to the doorstep. My hands lingered on the doorbell as a rational part of me started to contemplate if this was a good idea. Well, my irrational self won and just as I was about to finally press the doorbell, the door itself swung open. Or rather, Alec had just opened it.

I took a step back as I stared at him with wide eyes, almost getting lost in his blue orbs that I had not realized he was shirtless until I accidentally glanced down. I regretted it instantly as I felt a burning heat creep up my cheek. I immediately stared back down fiddling with my fingers.

I have never been this nervous in my entire life, or I would say I was never one to be nervous but somehow every time I happened to be in close proximity with Alec, I start to loose my guard. I could feel his burning gaze on me, making the silence between us seem uncomfortable. I cleared my throat and asked, peeking through my lashes to stare at him. "Are you going to let me in?"

"I will.." He replied huskily. "After I do this.." He added and suddenly pulled me into his arms engulfing me in an almost bone crashing yet warm hug. I let out a gasp and tried to push him away but he held my hands and wrapped it around his waist, holding firmly. "Just let me hold you for a while, Bella."

It took a moment before I allowed myself to relax into Alec's embrace and I wouldn't deny that at that moment, I felt safe. I have never craved protection neither have I ever thought I needed it. But with Alec's arms around me, I felt like the most protected person at that moment. I could feel his heartbeat, mirroring mine which was beating just as fast as his was.

Call me weird, but it is what I felt and to be honest, it scared the shit out of me. Alec finally let me go after a while, but he still held on to my hands as he led me inside. The inside was just as I remembered, big, spacious and sophisticated.

"You left." Alec stated once I had sat down while he stood with his arms folded as he stared at me.

I shrugged "After what I heard, you really didn't expect me to stay."

"But you are certainly not going anywhere after now."

I scoffed with a roll of my eyes "Was that a request? Or an order?"

"Whatever you deem it fit. But you should know that you are my mate now and you have to stay with me."

"I am not interested in being your mate, so you cannot keep me with you."

Alec groaned at my statement, and then he lowered himself to my level, placing both of his hands by my side. "You have no idea what it means to be mated to a Lycan do you? It means you are mine Bella. Only mine." He whispered icily and I could swear his blue orbs flashed as he spoke and for an instant, it was like I was seeing two personalities.

"I am not a property, you can't own me." I managed to stutter out after taking in a large gulp.

He smirked and raised himself back up. "We would see about that."

He seemed so sure of himself as he spoke, making me scared a bit. One thing I have always been sure of is the fact I would never be owned anybody, any man to be precise, but staring up at Alec now I was starting to have second thoughts, not of my own accord if I might add.

"What would you like to eat?" He asked as he backed away from me.

I shook my head, "I am not hungry."

"Drinks?"

I shook my head again. "No, I just want to sleep."

"Well then, sleep you shall." He replied me and before I knew it, he had lifted me up the chair in a bridal style.

I shrieked in surprise as I clung to his neck. "Put me down Alec!"

"I'm sorry I can't mate, it is my job now to take care of you."

I scoffed... As if. But then I didn't argue and I let him carry into... "Your bedroom!" I exclaimed on seeing where he had brought me.

Alec grinned as he lay me down on his bed. "This where you belong, with me."

"You've got to be kidding me!" I snapped, sitting up. I was starting to get uncomfortable with his sudden niceness to me, because for the record I would prefer the Alec I had met when I first got here and not this sweet talk and acts Alec making my heart flutter.

Okay, he also did make my heart flutter the first time too.

"Lay back down Bella." He gently pressed my shoulders back until I was back down on the bed, he then climbed in with me.

Few minutes passed before Alec spoke up again. "Bella?"

I kept quiet and didn't reply him.

"Are you asleep?"

"You know I'm not." I muttered a reply.

He sighed. "Why did you come here the first time? "

"What?"

"I know you are not what you claim to be. Even Lee thinks that way. But I haven't found any explanation as to who you are and why you are suddenly here."

"Well, good for you. If you haven't found anything then that means there is nothing."

"You know that's a lie —"

"You wish. Goodnight Alec." I muttered.

Alec sighed and said nothing, instead he scooted closer to me and wrapped his hands around me. And as I drifted off to sleep, I could only think of one thing; Alec must never find out what I did for a living.
