“You’re right, we did. But you’ve had a lot of practice at all this, Bodie. I’ve been doing this for two weeks. I’m still trying to find my footing. I’ll make mistakes.”
“You think I give a fuck about mistakes? That’s nothing new. We all make them. All of us, except Mr. Perfect, of course. But he’s not. No matter how badly you want him to be.” With a snort of disgust, Bodie finally stepped back, angling toward the door. “I knew you going to work for him was a mistake. He didn’t want you until somebody else had you.”
The casually flung barb found its target, and Gage felt a twinge in his chest. “That’s not true.”
“And he didn’t leave you high and dry that night at Power? You might not have that much practice, but you’re not stupid. Think about it for two seconds. And try not to think with your dick.”
