“I think you’re doing the right thing, though.” He smiled, hoping it was encouraging. “You got out to explore your neighborhood. You’re pursuing your music. Things can only go up from here.”

“That’s what I tell myself every morning. I hope I have a regular paying gig before my money runs out. I’d rather die than crawl back to Utah.”

“What about finding part-time work to tide you over?”

“I’ve tried but it’s a little embarrassing. With no experience and no degree in this economy, I don’t have a lot of options.”

“I’m an option.”

Gage blinked. “What do you mean?”

“Working for me. There’s plenty of times I need an extra set of hands moving furniture, or extra eyes at a sale, or just someone to watch the store for me when I need to run out at the last minute. It’s not glamorous or anything, but it’s there for a back-up if you’re interested.”

“Are you serious? You’d want somebody who doesn’t know anything about antiques and has never worked in a store before?”
