"How was your exam today?" Burn asks me whilst I rearrange the products on the shelves. Today I have a half time at work and I already skipped yesterday.
"It was so so. I guess I'll pass."
"Don't be so disheartened." He joins me in arranging the products. "I used to be like that too when I was your age."
Reverie from the other side of the shelf asks me. "You have mathematics next, don't you?"
"How do you know?!"
"We go to the same school. I've seen you before."
"Seriously!" I stand up. "I never saw you before."
"Because I'm your two years senior."
Burn uninterestedly speaks. "Woah. Co-workers from the same school."
I breathe a sigh of relief. "Then that's good."
"Apparently there's a lot of rumours about you in the school."
"Really? About what?"
Before she replies, a group of men enter our store. They are wearing the local police uniform.
Burn stands up and attends them. "How may I help you?"
"This store has a pharmacy department?"
"Yes."
"Who attends it?"
Chaste walks out of the counter and replies. "I do."
The police raise the bottle in his hand. "Did you sell this medicine to Eilin Mins?"
"That's calcium supplements. She used to always come to our store to buy this."
"You sold this bottle to her?!" He grumbles and Chaste shrinks.
"Ye.. yes. I did."
The police asks his subordinates to take Chaste with them. "Also search the store."
"Wait." Says Burn. "Please allow us to call our manager before searching. Maybe we can settle this in the store."
The police halt. "Tell him to hurry up."
The manager of our store comes rushing inside the store. Fortunately he was just nearby so it didn't take him long.
"What's wrong?! Did my employee cause any trouble sir?! Is there anything wrong in this store?!"
"Your employee sold poisoned medicine to his customer. And we suspect drug temperament in your store."
We all are taken aback. Surprise is visible on our faces.
"What?! That's not possible!" Chaste refutes. "I'm sure I sold her a sealed bottle!"
"Yes." Replies the police. "You can tell us the details later. Come with us first."
"That's right!" Says the manager. "Our store only purchases sealed medicine. There's no way it could be poisoned!"
"If that's the case, let us search your store."
"That's…" he looks down.
"Heey!" He asks the other officers. "Search the store if there's more poisons here. Take some drug samples too."
"Yes sir!"
The rest pull Chaste into their jeep.
"Why'd I even sell her a poisoned bottle?! I've known her for quite some time. Why'd I even do that?" Chaste argues but they take him nonetheless.
Reverie shifts her sights at me and finds me trembling. "I'm sure Chaste has done nothing like that." She says.
"Ye.. yes. I know him.. he.. he wouldn't do that. The.. police.. they didn't even hear him and took him away!"
"That's just their nature. I'm sure they'll release him once they find he didn't do it."
Burn follows the officers that search the store. After finding nothing wrong they leave with drug samples.
"Seriously. They came in and left like a storm." Burn scratches his head and sighs. "The manager looks devastated."
"After all it is his first time witnessing such an incident."
Reverie emphasise. "I'm sure its just a step of their investigation. They don't have any solid evidence that it is the same bottle she bought from here. Or that she used that specific bottle."
"I'm sure Chaste will come back soon."
I say nothing and listen to their conversation.
"Oh crude. We've to arrange the store again."
