A new beginning Part 2

Zander POV

"Damn"

While I was frustrated, one of my men says:

"Sir, you have a call"

When verifying who it is, excited I answer.

"Hello General, it is a pleasure that you contact me but I am currently not available to attend to you, since some criminals are attacking the base"

Zander told this to the person who called him, with the hope that helps him, but what the person says, leaves him stunned.

"You are a bastard Zander, because of you all our plans have come to light and public opinion is eating us alive, they want us to give them an explanation"

"What happened General?" I ask while feeling a bad premonition.

"Stupid, your dirty dealings are being broadcast on national television and you still ask?"

"Everything related to the mutant children has come to light"

"I'm sorry but you're alone" Saying that, the other person ended the call.

I look dazed at the phone. When I recover, I ignore the chaos in the building and turn on the TV.

Looking at what is being broadcast, I understood his words.

On the news there's a video narrated by that Sarah Kinney and everything she found out about the base.

When the video ended, I stopped watching the news, then I understood that I was finished.

Alex Wayne POV

Arriving at the penultimate floor, Laura and I stop, looking around I understood that the place is an office floor.

Laura begins to sniff the place having caught something, she walks towards a desk and when she arrives, she opens a drawer. In the drawer there is a lab coat and a photograph, the person in the photograph was Sarah Kinney.

When Laura sees the photo, she picks it up and keeps it.

Ending this matter, we continue on our way.

When we've dealt with the last men in the place, we open the door to the main office.

In the place there is a man who seems lost in his thoughts.

I recognized him.

Zander.

Looking at his condition I'm confused, he gave up too quickly. But looking at what was being broadcast on the television in the office I understood.

The video that the newscasts were broadcasting, of course, was provided by me. And with a little help from Fury, it became public.

Zander raising his head asks me:

"Why did you help them? Don't you realize that they are an abomination? Why worry about something created in a laboratory? They're just a freaks that will attack you from behind."

Finishing speaking, he throws a look full of madness and hatred in the direction of Laura.

I raise my gun and as I point it at his forehead, I tell him:

"You'll never know because a pathetic man like you don't need to know my reasons"

I pull the trigger.

Bang!

With the sound of a gunshot, Zander's body falls to the ground.

Without worrying about Zander's lifeless body, I leave the place with Laura.

As we leave, seconds after, the building is engulfed in flames after an explosion.
