A Little Romance

The heat from Varis' hands was palpable. In the distance, above the stone ceiling, he could make out a glowing orb. On the cot, he was wrapped in a heavy blanket, and Miya curled up to sleep clutching his right palm.

When Varis woke up, the nurse questioned him. "Oh, you're awake? What do you feel, Son?"

"Feel great."

"Nice to hear that."

Nurse Mary was decked out in a bulky sweater with long sleeves. Tonight, she was stunning, and she even smells nice. She set the medication bottle and glass down on the table.

"Get some sleep after taking your medication. Tomorrow or tonight if you feel good, you can go back to your dorm room."

"Thank you, nurse." It wasn't lost on Varis that Miya was snoring a little. For some reason, he found it amusing.

After tucking Miya in, nurse Marry sat on the edge of Varis's couch and admired the way Miya slept with her arms crossed on the other side of the couch.
