Experiment (Cathode Ray)

"Today we are going to do an experiment." Said Lim Zhen Cong who was standing at the front of his students.

Tan Han Sheng raised his hand and stood up like a normal student so he could tell Lim Zhen Cong: "Yes sir, we are going to do an experiment today!"

With a blissful smile and thoughtful nod, Lim Zhen Cong told his students that what he just said just now is correct.

Then Lim Zhen Cong remembered who he was talking to and tells himself to expect this experiment turning into a messy horror comedy written by a guy named #$@#%_%#**#@.

He pulled out a fairly large cathode ray tube and placed it on the table for all to see.

Soon the students stared in awe at the contraption, seeing this Lim Zhen Cong merely laughed and pulled out something else from underneath the table.

"This must be something you kids had never seen before." He said proudly and points at the object.

It was an old television.

Lim Zhen Cong then started to explain that cathode rays are streams of electrons observed in vacuum tubes.

The electrons ejected from the ionisation of the gas travel towards the anode. These rays are actually electrons produced from the ionisation of the gas inside the tube.

"Sir, this thing won't explode right?"

Koh Zi Hong asked as he warily looks at the cathode ray with fear.

Lim Zhen Cong thought about the question for a second and came to a conclusion. He then told them: "Under normal circumstances, a cathode ray will never explode, but JJ Thomson who performed the cathode ray experiment never met the five of you…"

"So the cathode ray will have a high possibility to explode in your hands."

Group by group, the students stood up and performs the experiment using the cathode ray until it was Lee Kai Wen and his friends' turn.

Lim Zhen Cong who saw this pulled out something else from underneath the table the thing he pulled out was a suit of armor used by the special force.

They all glanced at Lim Zhen Cong with disdain. As a teacher, Lim Zhen Cong felt that his actions had hurt his students feeling and prepared to take off the armor until…

"Sir, we also need a suit of armor."

"We think it will really explode."

If you listen closely, you could hear the disappointment coming Lim Zhen Cong thoughts.

With a pure smile like an angle, Lim Zhen Cong told his students in a calm and happy voice…

"Sorry, I don't have a spare. So let it blow you five into dust."
