Chapter 79: Completion of Filming and Post-production

Originally, Kevin had planned to stay at home and rest for a day without seeking any women's company. Unfortunately, Hayek didn't allow it.

The entire crew, along with some of the cast members who hadn't finished filming their scenes, gathered in the Caribbean pirate town near the port of San Pedro.

Rows of retro wooden buildings stood beside the port, creating a picturesque scenery. Many residents of the town dressed up as inhabitants from the golden age of piracy, strolling through the streets and adding to the town's vintage charm.

Captain Jack Sparrow, pursued by several British navy soldiers, dodged and weaved skillfully to evade capture.

Finally, after climbing onto a large crate that was difficult for the British soldier to ascend quickly, Captain Jack Sparrow twisted his body, raised his index finger confidently, and proclaimed:

"Children, you must remember this day forever. You were this close to catching the owner of the Black Pearl, the most powerful pirate king among the Nine Pirate Lords, Captain Jack Sparrow!"

"Cut!"

"Pirates of the Caribbean, that's a wrap! Well done, everyone!"

Kevin announced the end of the shooting loudly.

Everyone on set immediately relaxed.

Kevin instructed Zack Snyder to take care of the remaining tasks while he went to chat with Ronald, who had just arrived.

Ronald looked at the bustling pirate town, now filled with lively residents, and asked uneasily:

"Kevin, do you think Pirates of the Caribbean will be successful?"

"Of course! I worked tirelessly for you all, and that's why we were able to complete the filming of Pirates of the Caribbean so quickly."

"Considering the post-production time, Pirates of the Caribbean should be ready for release by the end of June."

Kevin smiled, looking at the pirate town before him, exuding confidence.

This seaside resort town only generates income for about three months each year, but in Kevin's eyes, those three months are enough to bring millions of dollars in revenue to Dawn Studios.

That's the power of intellectual property (IP).

As the owner of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Kevin shared a portion of the copyright revenue from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl with MGM and Warner Bros. However, he still held the key to the real profits through licensing.

This meant that the income from the Pirates of the Caribbean town belonged exclusively to Dawn Studios.

Of course, Warner Bros. and MGM would receive a portion of the profits from peripheral licensing, but Kevin remained the main beneficiary.

As for why MGM and Warner Bros. were willing to give Kevin such crucial rights, it was twofold. First, Kevin promised them at least a 20% share of the investment once the film became a blockbuster.

Secondly, Kevin's current position meant that he didn't rely heavily on MGM and Warner Bros. anymore. If they hadn't agreed, Kevin could easily find other partners.

That was the main reason they agreed—to keep Kevin satisfied.

And as for why Kevin didn't monopolize everything...

It all came down to the principle of cooperation and mutual benefit.

Monopolizing everything would mean having enemies everywhere, and Kevin couldn't handle that much pressure at the moment. The release of the film wasn't as simple as it seemed. After bidding farewell to Ronald , Kevin, along with the entire cast and crew, including the remaining members, held a wrap party at the best hotel in San Pedro as per tradition.

After enjoying a day of festivities, everyone boarded the car and returned to Los Angeles.

While the rest of the crew went on vacation, Kevin didn't take a break. In order to catch the peak of the summer box office, he brought Zack Snyder to MGM's editing room and started the initial editing of the film.

This time, there were no production managers or editors questioning his decisions.

With Kevin's current position, Pirates of the Caribbean was completely under his control. With Zack Snyder's assistance, Kevin spent only a week on the initial editing of the film.

The next step was to handle the post-production visual effects and soundtrack.

After expressing his need for a grand and majestic musical score, MGM used its resources to finally find a suitable candidate that satisfied Kevin—S.E.N.S., a Japanese music group.

Their name might be unfamiliar to many, but their music had been heard by many people, especially in the score for the Forbidden City in China, which was their work.

Listening to their compositions, which exuded a grand and majestic atmosphere, they were the perfect choice in Kevin's mind.

After assigning the task of music production, Kevin went alone to Industrial Light & Magic, where he once again met with Lucas and began working on the post-production visual effects.
