Life had settled into a new normal for Finn, Jake, and Xander. With Xander joining them on every adventure, things had become more thrilling, and Ooo seemed even bigger than before. However, there was still an air of mystery surrounding their new companion, especially since Finn still couldn't shake the shock of meeting another human for the first time.
One day, as the group relaxed in the treehouse, Princess Bubblegum sent a message—a royal scroll delivered by Peppermint Butler—requesting their help with something important.
"Looks like PB needs us again," Finn said, holding up the scroll for Jake and Xander to see. "Says it's something serious this time."
Jake yawned, still half-asleep. "Man, I hope it's not another science thing. Last time I got stuck in one of her traps for like three hours."
Xander, leaning against the wall, raised an eyebrow. "Whatever it is, we should check it out. If it's serious, it could be important."
Finn nodded, feeling the familiar rush of excitement at the thought of another adventure. "Let's go!"
When they arrived at the Candy Kingdom, Princess Bubblegum was waiting for them in her lab, surrounded by bubbling vials and glowing machinery. Her face was more serious than usual, and Finn could tell right away that something was up.
"Thanks for coming, Finn," Bubblegum said as they entered. She glanced at Jake and Xander with a nod of appreciation. "I'm going to need all of you for this one."
"What's going on, PB?" Finn asked, stepping closer to her workstation.
Bubblegum sighed, adjusting her lab coat. "I've discovered something beneath the surface of Ooo—an ancient structure. It's deep underground, and I've never seen anything like it before. The technology is… advanced, far beyond anything we've seen."
Xander's interest piqued. "What kind of technology?"
Bubblegum pulled up a holographic display, showing what looked like the ruins of a massive underground facility. "These ruins date back thousands of years, but they're still active. There's something down there—something powerful. I need your help to investigate it."
Jake squinted at the hologram. "So… it's like a big, spooky dungeon?"
"More or less," Bubblegum replied. "But I don't know what we're going to find. The energy readings are off the charts, and I can't risk sending anyone else down there. It's too dangerous."
Finn grinned, excitement growing. "You had me at 'dangerous.' We're in!"
Xander crossed his arms, studying the hologram closely. "If this place is that old and still active, there could be something protecting it. We should be prepared for anything."
Bubblegum nodded. "That's why I called you guys. You're the best adventurers in Ooo, and I trust you to handle whatever's down there."
The entrance to the underground facility was hidden in a remote part of Ooo, far from any of the familiar kingdoms. After hours of traveling through dense forests and rocky landscapes, the group finally reached a cave that led deep into the earth.
As they descended into the darkness, the temperature dropped, and the air grew heavy. The walls of the cave glowed faintly with strange symbols, similar to the ones they had seen in the Fire Kingdom's volcano.
"This place gives me the creeps," Jake muttered, stretching himself into a protective bubble around Finn.
Finn, holding his sword tightly, glanced at Xander. "You feeling anything weird?"
Xander's glowing tattoos pulsed softly as he walked. "There's definitely something down here. I can sense it. It's powerful, but I can't tell if it's hostile yet."
They continued deeper until they reached a massive metal door, covered in the same glowing symbols. The door seemed ancient but untouched by time, and as they approached, it slowly began to open on its own, revealing a dark corridor beyond.
Finn's eyes widened. "Whoa… this place is huge."
The corridor stretched out into the distance, with dim lights flickering on either side. As they moved through it, they realized the facility was far larger than they had imagined. Strange machines lined the walls, their functions unknown, and the entire place seemed to hum with an otherworldly energy.
"I've never seen anything like this," Bubblegum whispered, her eyes darting around in awe. "This technology is beyond anything we've developed in Ooo."
Xander moved ahead of the group, his senses on high alert. The deeper they went, the more he felt a strange connection to the place, as if it was somehow familiar to him. His glowing tattoos reacted to the energy in the air, pulsing more brightly with every step.
"I think we're getting closer to whatever's powering this place," Xander said, his voice steady but tense.
As they rounded a corner, they came face to face with a massive chamber. In the center of the room stood a colossal machine, its core glowing with the same energy that pulsed through the walls. But what caught their attention was the figure standing before the machine—a humanoid figure, covered in the same glowing symbols as Xander.
"What… is that?" Finn asked, his voice low.
The figure turned slowly, revealing a face that was eerily similar to Xander's. Its eyes glowed with the same light, and its expression was cold, almost mechanical.
Xander stepped forward, his eyes narrowing. "This… this is impossible."
The figure spoke, its voice hollow and emotionless. "You have returned."
Finn looked at Xander, confused. "What's going on? Do you know this guy?"
Xander's expression was unreadable. "Not exactly. But I think I know what he is."
Before Finn could ask more questions, the figure raised its hand, and the room began to shake. The machine behind it roared to life, and the air crackled with energy. The ground beneath them trembled, and cracks began to form in the walls.
"We need to get out of here!" Jake shouted, grabbing Finn and stretching toward the exit.
Xander, however, remained calm. He stared at the figure for a moment longer before turning to the group. "Go. I'll handle this."
Finn hesitated. "But—"
"I'll catch up," Xander said, his voice firm. "Trust me."
Reluctantly, Finn, Jake, and Princess Bubblegum ran toward the exit as the facility began to collapse around them. Xander stood alone in the chamber, facing the figure who had once been part of the same power that now flowed through his veins.
"You were not meant to return," the figure said, its voice distant.
"I wasn't meant to stay away," Xander replied, his glowing sword appearing in his hand.
As the machine behind the figure roared with energy, Xander raised his sword, ready to confront whatever ancient force lay beneath the surface of Ooo.
