"So you're saying your father left Tae-Joo... sorry, Calvin, in the woods and took me to the orphanage? Didn't it occur to him that those men could have seen my brother?" Brad asked as he moved from one end of the living room to the other, trying to make sense of all Star had just said. 

"Yes, he left Calvin behind. And yes, it must have occurred to him that they would probably see Calvin. But I guess he figured it was best to save one of you and go back for the other later," Star said, giving him a look that dared him to question her father's judgment.

"Why didn't they kill us the first time? Why come back for us when they had the opportunity to kill us the first time they killed our father?" Brad asked thoughtfully.
